Regular MFP users?

RoadRunner123 · 02/01/2015 14:54

Are there any regular committed MFP users around who would be my friend?!

I did MFP in 2011 and lost around 25lbs, I did couch to 5k and then did a 10K race. I felt good, fit, healthy and slim.

But, gradually, slowly, I have gone back to my old ways and now four years later, I am back up to a weight I'm not happy with and no longer run. I want to turn this back around, get back to my healthy weight and start running again.

I've got about 8 MFP friends but none of them use it regularly and I could do with some encouragement and pressure to keep at it!

I don't really want to post my username though as my profile on there has my photo and area I live and I like MN to be anonymous, so if anyone could message me or post user names, I will send a request.

Initial excuses though....it may take me a few days to get into it properly so I can do a healthy shop and get 'rid' (ie eat) of a few more Christmas chocolates!

Thank you!

Farmerslife, when I was doing the shred I added it as circuit training, as I still do with my bootcamp. it can't have been too far off as I was still going the right way on the scales! I didn't count the warm up or cool down times though, so I think it was approx 20 mins for the actual workout.

ROARmeow · 06/01/2015 19:20

hilly you can change your calorie allowance! I changed mine to 1500 to give myself a bit more 'room'. Usually I only eat around 1300, but it made me feel better knowing I was under my allowance, rather being over the 1200 they gave me and feeling that I'd failed.

I've lost 2kg in 9 days :)

WiseKneeHair · 06/01/2015 19:34

Ive set my allowance to 1400. When I did it before, I ended up looking into TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). There is a lot of info on it and lots advocate doing TDEE minus 10-20%. If you eat at TDEE, if it's correct, then you should maintain. My TDEE is about 2000 (only 5'2"), so minus 20% gave me 1600 calories. I was still losing good amounts eating that much. Ive done 1400 this time as im impatient, but I think once ive lost another 7lbs, im going to go back to 1600.

Thanks Kayne , think better to err on side of caution and then getter bonus benefit I think !

NeenaRibena · 08/01/2015 14:09

Ooooh can I join?

Got the final stone of baby weight to lose (baby is now 14months Blush) oh and another half a stone ideally....

MajesticWhine · 08/01/2015 14:20

My name is NeverMakeQuiche. Happy to be friends with any mumsnetters. I don't use MFP all the time, but certainly on there from time to time.

MajesticWhine · 08/01/2015 14:23

My tip is to add the food to your diary before you eat it, while you're thinking about what to have or preparing it. It makes me (slightly) less likely to scoff that extra helping.

HeavenKnowsImMiserableNow · 08/01/2015 14:30

Hi all,

Can I join too? My mfp name is TellyDoddrioni. I almost got down to my target weight last summer, became pregnant but then lost my baby and was using the Xmas season as an excuse to eating the pain away.

Anyhow I'm back on the mfp wagon now and have requainted myself with fruit and vegetables but could do with some support to keep it going. So please feel free to add me x

HeavenKnowsImMiserableNow · 09/01/2015 10:51

Hi again,

Just realised that I've given the wrong mfp username above, it is actually TellyDodd, doh!

sniffysnifferson · 09/01/2015 16:00

I do the same as majestic, add to my food diary beforehand.

I pretty much try to plan the next days food /calories which tends to stop the impulse snacking etc. and helps with portion control.

thobblywighs · 11/01/2015 09:12

I have been rubbish this week but have been shopping and am ready to go. My MFP is the same as my name on here if anyone wants to add me. I like the idea of adding to the diary at the start of the day. Off to do that now!!

newname1556 · 11/01/2015 18:26

My mfp username is acceberd if anyone wants to add me. Have only been using it for the past week but lost weight a few years ago using the app.
I've just started exercising for the first time in my life too so need some encouragement!

LadyStark · 13/01/2015 18:37

I'd love to join but can't work out how to add friends? I'm womblingfreeSW19

Offler · 14/01/2015 23:07

I joined MFP this week too, need to loose about 3 stone. I'm at my heaviest ever when not upduffed Sad at just under 13 stone. I weighed myself on Monday (at lunchtime, fully dressed with my knee high doc martens on, so knocked off a few pounds for those Wink).

Been doing well this week, and went back and logged what I'd eaten over the week before to compare. I walk 4-5 miles on most week days, so getting some good exercise there too! I'm doing 1200 cals, but usually go a little over that with my exercise allowance.

I'm going to try being quite strict in the week, and more relaxed at the weekends!

My MFP name is Mouseorgan if anyone wants to add me :)

zippy539 · 01/02/2015 10:40

Hi - I'm coming a bit late to the party. I hope it's okay if I friend some of you who have put your user names on this thread. I used MFP a couple of years ago to lose a stone then life went tits up and I put it all back on again, plus some. I started again in January and am being SO good. Logging in every day, eating around my allowance, getting big walks in - it's all going great except I've got absolutely no mates! I don't want to post my MFP user name on here because I might out myself to my nearest and dearest but it begins with 'Lady' so if you get a request from me, you'll know it's via mumsnet.
