I jokingly asked my hubby if he wanted to try my breastmilk and he didn't, he wasn't mean about it or anything and I had said it jokingly but I got really upset in privatew later and I can't really work out why. I have since explained to him that although I said it jokingly I was really upset that he seemed like he would never try it and why would he(not in a nasty way). He said he hadn't realised that I was upset and he hadn't realised that I actually wanted him to, he really thought I was just joking. anyway my 5 yr DD1 has justed asked to try it so I expressed some into a glass and she tried it, she was really eager to try but she said she didn't like it. Thats fine but I have some left (just a sip or two) shall I poop it in the fridge and offer it to my hubby when he comes in later??????? he now knows I'm serious so I would have thought that he would try it, idon't care if he hates the taste but trying it has sudden'y become important to me, Am I crazy?????

Have tasted mine and find it a bit chalky. Not particularly pleasant but preferable to cow's milk or formula - I agree with whoever said that tasted like cardboard. Glad it has been banished from our house now for several weeks.

TR really I agree with pfp's first sentence - think you are pushing it a bit.

I think its a sexual thing, and you have a right to be upset...

Ask your DH if some hot porn star was expressign milk , would he want to try it then???
(sugar, hun, hope that doesnt offend) the point is I think women think that its part of a male fantasy and that their dh shoudl want to...

After all, you swallow his 'fluids'....

ionesmum · 22/05/2005 20:35

Definitely read Germaine Greer on the menstrual blood thing.

trinityrocks · 22/05/2005 20:39

I like the reference to swallowing his fluids
I'm not pushing it if I ask him again, he thought I was joking the first time and didn't consider it properly he just laughed and say no.
I'm not risking anything, not even an argument if I ask him again so I'm going to. (might mention the fact that I've swallowed plenty of his fluids and my milk tastes better)

you guys have really made me laugh tonight thanks

There you are Twig, Ionesmum knows - it was in the Female Eunuch

dabihp · 22/05/2005 20:44

can u get him to take it straight from the source? that might help??

trinityrocks · 22/05/2005 20:47

dabihp, now I think he would def. disagree with that, a bit too much like those men who get their rocks off by pretending to be babies and doing the whole nappy and bottle thing, not our cup of tea

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

cupcakes · 22/05/2005 20:49

But not if he were to taste it whilst kissing the general area?
I asked my dh if he wanted to taste mine and he replied that he already had unintentionally during sex.
And he said it was fine.
So there

dabihp · 22/05/2005 20:52

I dont think its a perversion alongside that!

trinityrocks · 22/05/2005 21:23

oh sorry your right, I didn't think of it like that

quick update, he came home and I told him that our daughter had wanted to try it and then asked him if he would. he said yes and then drank the mouthful from the fridge. He reckon it tasted like very sweet milk. he said it was alright but he wouldn't put it in his coffee

I remember constantly shooting dh in the eye during bd. I was a bit of a human fountain for the first few months. I would be a bit grossed out if he made a habit of tasting it though, once is enough, in the spirit of enquiry.

I've tasted my breastmilk out of curiousity (sweet, didn't taste of much), formula (yuk, can't believe babies like it) and all the readymade babyfood that I gave to the ds's (mostly yuk again)

dh cringed abway from trying the babyfood, yet alone formula or breastmilk.

my mum (war generation) was scandalised at me 'wasting' a bottle of formula, which had touched my baby's lips, and offered to drink it - I warned her that she wouldn't like it, and I was right
