Question for other breastfeeders with girl toddlers

Do all your toddlers breastfeed their dolls too? I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when my 2 year old first 'breastfed' baby Annabel But now I must say I'm very proud of the effect breastfeeding her brother has had.

Oh yes dd did that when she was around 2. I have a picture somewhere.

She was still being breastfed then.
But now all her dolls come with bottles she feeds them with bottles now.

My dd (2.5 years and still bf) doesn't play with dolls. She loves cars, and sleeps with a batmobile. She hasn't attempted to breastfeed any of her cars yet. However, she herself spotted that a pig has nipples (she has a giant farm jigsaw), and understands about a cow's udders, and says her word for bf when she sees animals suckling or babies being bf (in pics and on TV). She just doesn't apply it to herself.

No, actually my girls don't, they give their dollies a bottle, despite the fact that their baby brother has never been bottle fed.

DS is 2 and he has done it to his dolls even though I haven't BF either of mine. I am hoping to be succesful with no3 and he has accompanied me to the babybistro and watched/read numerous things online with me.

He keeps saying the baby is in 'mummys boobs'.

Ok maybe not cry... I didn't know whether to 'laugh or try and stop her from doing it because I was worried she might do it in public' But I agree it is the cutest thing.

What's wrong with her doing it in public? Breastfeeding is normal!

My ds has did it quite a lot when he was around 2ish. His doll must have had quite some suckling power, it only took about a second on each side!

Yes. Seeing me bf ds has made dd 'feed' her dolls that way too SHe is 4.5 and I hope will be old enough to remember it. I was 11 when my mum had my brother and sister and I am sure that it is because I remember her bf that I didn't think twice about doing it myself. She also carries her doll in a 'sling' made from an old scarf when we are out with ds in his sling. I do wonder what people must think

Ds does it. He has also been known to lift his top and offer 'boob' to dd

Oh God, I used to pretend to do this myself when I was 5 or 6 .

DS doesn't but he does bring me his giraffe for a feed in the morning (after his of course - pecking order!) and I once also fed a teletubbie - think it was La La.

Yep, DD1 BFs and babywears and gives out advice at breastfeeding support group, including trying to get the student midwives to BF the dolls too . I think boys do too though.

My ds1 "breastfed" his toy Winnie the Poo when he was about 3.5 and his little brother was still being bf.

Yep. Mine does this. We sit next to each other - me feeding DD2 and her feeding her Baby Annabel.

Yep, my little girl who is 3.5 BF's her dolls, stuffed toys, barbies while I am BF'ing her baby bro. She burps them too and says "well done, you are so clever, I am so proud of you"
Even better when she's doing it in front of MIL cos she doesn't approve heh heh

My DD1 does this - although when DD2 was first born, I don't think DD1 was too sure of the anatomy as she used to feed her dolls the milk from her elbow (Oh how easy would that be if it were true!)

Yes, both of mine have breastfed dolls (ds and dd). I have also pretended to breastfeed dolls for them... as well as breastfeeding ds's toes at his request on one occasion . Dd also claims she has 3 nipples and won't believe that the third is her tummy button.
