Question for other breastfeeders with girl toddlers

Do all your toddlers breastfeed their dolls too? I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when my 2 year old first 'breastfed' baby Annabel But now I must say I'm very proud of the effect breastfeeding her brother has had.

Yes mine are 4 and 3 and BF dolls all the time.

They also stuff dolls up their tops and say they are pregnant and the best one was the other week DD1 was on the bed with a dolls head hanging out her top and DD2 was the MW telling her to push.

DD2 and 3 (8 months) were in the trolley and this old dear comes over cooing over them and DD3 was a bit gurny so the old dear says to DD2 "oh your wee sister is upset is she hungry"? DD2 shouting "she wants a BOOB"

whomovedmychocolate · 27/03/2009 20:11

Yep, Dd does this - she also invites them to 'have some mummy booby, it's nice' . Wouldn't mind, but I'm already tandem feeding, I don't think I can cope with her plethora of cuddlies as well!

noonki · 27/03/2009 20:19

DS1 did this he tells me that he is going to grow boobies so he can make baby milk when he is a mummy

DS bfs toys. And the other night we were in the bath and I had to pretend I was a cow being milked by a machine (bath crayons over my nipples in case you ask). Then he was a cow, and I got to be the milk tanker

dd2 (just 3) still does and this thread has reminded me that I ought to get some photos...

Incidentally, her brothers and sister also went through a phase of feeding their beloved bears and dolls.

I find it very sweet. It wouldn't bother me at all if they did it in public.

So glad my dd isn't the only stuffed toy breastfeeder. Don't get me wrong I'm not anti toddlers breastfeeding in public (wow that's a strange sentence to write) it was more the way she was trying to take her top off initially to find her nipples and spent some time positioning Baby Annabel (didn't really want her doing that in public she was 19 months when my ds was born). Now over 2, glad to say she has improved her technique so as not to expose herself during a feed, ahhhh mummy has taught her well

I "breastfed" my dolls and my little sister(!) when I was little. I also remember having a doll which came with 2 bottles - one filled with milk and the other orange juice () which disappeared when you tipped them up like it was being drunk so I think my dolls were mixed fed in my games, like my sister was in reality!!

I think it is good and helps normalise bf - I never considered bottlefeeding DS.

CherryChoc · 28/03/2009 15:07

Oh Grendle you just reminded me, when my sister and I played mums & dads I was convinced milk could come out of my tummy button as well, in emergencies, as how else would you possibly feed triplets??

giveusabreak · 28/03/2009 18:16

DD just been feeding her baby octupus toys in the bath. Just one at a time tho but she did use her belly button too. Not surprised at this as she is obssessed with my belly button

Actually both of my sons have 'breastfed' teddy bears or dolls. It's not just a girl thing.

kathryn2804 · 29/03/2009 00:25

My friend's little boy breastfed his dinosaurs. I just thought that was adorable!

Plus my other friend breastfed triplets, and they were at church when they were about 2 1/2. Another little girl was playing with her doll and the Mum said 'are you going to give her a bottle?' One of the triplets said 'we don't have bottle, we have booby' and all of them simultaneously lifted their t-shirts and started breastfeeding their various toys!
