6 months today of exclusively bfing - never thought I'd manage it!

I've been very lucky and had an easy ride in general, but you know, - honestly, in this climate/culture/society, even with so many things in my favour (i.e. VERY supportive DH, iron nipples, hungry determined baby), it isn't easy is it?

I'm feeling a bit emotional today for having 'made it', particularly because despite having found it hard I well know that many many people have difficulties I could only imagine and they persist and persist and persist, perhaps not getting to six months, but pushing and pushing to go for as long as they can and I truly take my hat off to them.

Well done to me, but more importanly, well done to all of you for however long you have managed.

Good feeling isn't it

HumphreyCobbler · 09/03/2009 20:09

Congratulations!

I have a month to go, and I feel emotional too.

LaDiDaDi · 09/03/2009 20:10

Well done and what a lovely OP.

AitchTwoOh · 09/03/2009 20:10

well bloody done.

SnowlightMcKenzie · 09/03/2009 20:19

Aww, thanks everyone, and good luck HumphreyCobbler

It might not feel like it, but the last month is just 31 days long!

sazlocks · 09/03/2009 20:21

well done

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 09/03/2009 20:25

well done I have just done it too, and yes it was bloody hard at times. Got to 6 month and has now been on solids for a few weeks.
I feel sad in a way. bf poo has now changed obviously.
still bf on demand though.
I am proud of myself too

SweetEm · 09/03/2009 20:28

Well done, you should be proud!

And remember - now is when bf gets easy

SnowlightMcKenzie · 09/03/2009 20:59

Oh SweetEm it's a paradox though surely, because bf may well get easy but life overall must get more difficult, wot with carting around food etc.

Well done Starlight. Six months already! Wow.

I think it is only something like 1% make it to 6 months exclusive, so you should be very proud.

dizzydixies · 09/03/2009 23:19

Starlight, was just wondering about you a few days ago - well done you lady, well done

Mummyfor3 · 09/03/2009 23:19

Well done!
Congratulations from one who also did not find BFing always a total delight (it took me to DS3 to fully BF).
My goal was to make it to 6 monhts - and now he will be 1 year in a couple of weeks and we are still at it !!
I found 2nd 6 months flew by, so good luck to you; hope you can keep going as long as you want to.

LadyOfWaffle · 09/03/2009 23:22

Well done! Next 6 are easier

moondog · 09/03/2009 23:51

Brilliant!
You deserve champion lactator medal!

MamacitaGordita · 10/03/2009 08:33

Fantastic- can't wait til it's me writing that post! It's a tough journey at times (on third course of fluconazole now!) but MN has really helped me to carry on and posts like yours Starlight spur me on!

Hats off to you

noolia · 10/03/2009 08:41

Well done! You've done the hard bit now.

phdlife · 10/03/2009 08:47

congratulations - you deserve a TimTam

SnowlightMcKenzie · 10/03/2009 09:58

LOL phdlife, Sadly that biscuit eating thing is going to have to calm down or else I'll blow up when introducing solids!

Well done no1

Good luck Mamacita. Hope it works this time!

tinierclanger · 10/03/2009 09:59

Congratulations! I made it too but can't make a song and dance IRL as most people I know didn't. So can I also say I feel chuffed as well!

SnowlightMcKenzie · 10/03/2009 10:02

Yes of course tinierclanger! Join in and have one of my TimTams!

Congratulations btw! Know what you mean about RL.

Well done! It's a great feeling isnt it!

tibsy · 10/03/2009 10:25

congratulations and well done

SydneyB · 10/03/2009 10:31

Congrats Snowlight! I've just reached 5 months and posts like yours just spur me on when DS going through growth spurt. And yes agree about bics. Remember stopping bf DD at 6 months as had to go back to work (she had formula too) and I ballooned on my biscuit habit. Taking more time off with DS and am now wondering how long I will go on for. How long will you keep going do you think Snowlight?

mawbroon · 10/03/2009 13:23

Can I have a backdated TimTam please.

Like Tinierclanger, I didn't really make a big deal of it in RL at the time. I felt concious that people who hadn't bf, or hadn't done 6 months exclusive might accuse me of being smug

SnowlightMcKenzie · 10/03/2009 15:41

Well a lot of people can't bf until 6 months for very valid and varied reasons, but it doesn't mean that those who do haven't achieved something worth celebrating.

Help yourself to a TimTam mawbroon.
