i am still feeding at 8mths...

so who else out there is a feeder at 8mths, and from those with lots of experience whats it like with teeth, as ds is cutting two presently!

my ds is sllergic to cows formula so i have kept the feeding going and its been fine really,
just cant be bothered expressing which if i did would mean a night out to the cinema or something!

fed my ds till about 10 months then finished off feeding him till 1yo by expressing as he was biting and laughing at me!

I fed for two years, and didn't have any problems with teeth. She bit me once, and my reaction frightened her so much she never bit me again. It really wasn't any different to feeding without teeth.

I's still feeding dd2 at 12 mo and intend to keep going for as long as she likes. I found the theeth a problem when she cut her first but sh esoon got used to them! They can be a problem when sh ehas a blocked nose (like at the moment!) but it's just a short nip - nothing too bad. She has just got used to drinking plain water from a beaker so I know I can always give her that if I need to.

Know what you mean about expressing though, I tried an avent pump and it made me sore. So atm dd2 and I are joined at the hip a bit. Plus she feeds for comfort at night, so going out afte rdark is a bit of a no-no really.

Hi. I'm still feeding DD2 at 8 and a half months, and she has 6 teeth at present. She's bitten me twice which really made me yell...the shock has stopped her doing it again! I've had a few nips from her, but they are usually when she is dozing off and don't really hurt. Ionesmum; it's so nice to hear someone else mention comfort feeding at night. DD2 does it, and it's not a problem for me really (except when she decides to wake evry half hour during the night!) but sometimes I do feel like I'm the only one who has this 'problem'. Are you co-sleeping? How often does your DD2 wake in the night?

i was just going to ask everyone how often they feed at this stage?

i stoppped ds and his comfort feeding becuase i was just too knackered, he feeds in the morn a bit anytime between noon and 2 and then at 6.30 and maybe 11pm, but he still wakes in the night - (current excuse : his first 2 teeth are neck and neck bursting thru presently )

I fed both my ds and dd till about 10 or 11 months and didn't find teeth a problem.

hi another one feeding at 8 and a half months DD now has 6 teeth and yes she does nip me from time to time but mostly it's ok. Once I told her no and put my boob away don't know if she got the hint though!

We are still cosleeping she usually wakes once in the night ar around 3-4 for a comfort feed of about 5 mins so not too bad as she has been asleep since 7.

I fed dd for 17 months, when one day she just gave up, teeth were never a problem.

I'm still feeding 12mo DS - he has seven teeth.

He feeds between two and four times a day - more often three or four, but occasionally morning and night.

yep i still feed ds aged 8.5 months. He does have 2 very sharp teeth but i have only been nipped (if you get the pun ) once or twice and my reaction did scare him silly so hopefully it won't happen again. He feeds about twice in the night and perhaps a few times in the day, although sometimes he doesnt want anything during the day... we'll carry on until he isn't interested anymore...

I fed dd to 22m. She vomitted cow's milk but was OK with the occasional bottle of formula. I started dropping feeds from about 18m. Have you tried Nanny? It's a goat's milk formula that you can get from health food shops.

Teeth were not a problem. IIRC, dd nipped me a few times, generally when the tooth was very new and not fully cut through yet (I suppose it must have been at its most irritating or painful at that point). Particularly if I was trying to get her to take a bit more. The best thing to do mid-bite is not to pull away but to hug the baby closer to you - it hurts less that way. A sharp "No" combined with putting the baby down immediately (on the floor or sofa next to me, not on my lap) generally did the trick. If she genuinely wanted to feed then she would settle down to feeding when I picked her up again after a minute, if she wasn't interested she wouldn't feed. If she bit again that was the end of the feed. I don't think it happened more htan a handful of times (though putting her back on the boob after a bite is mentally difficult - I cringed)

I know someone who feeds their 4 yr old. Not sure that is the response you are looking for though.

Still feeding at 14 months. the teeth were a problem for a few days but I just took her off and put her on the floor- she soon made the connection and didn't do it again

I'm still feeding DD who's 10.5 months. She feeds three or four times a day, plus comfort feeds at night. I can't imagine doing anything else... and certainly she can't... She is cutting her top two teeth and the odd nip as the bottom two came through made me shout, which stopped her.

Still feeding at 13 months and 8.1 teeth (she's cutting a new one now!) She bit me once or twice experimentally, and once or twice because she was crying and I didn't know what to do and I tried feeding her and she wanted to let me know that was the Wrong Answer. We both learned not to make those mistakes. Now she gets kind of chewy when she has an ear infection doesn't really bite me, but her latch is terrible and otherwise it's fine.

By the way, the bottom teeth were no problem at all, nothing changed in any way until the top teeth came in.

Still feeding ds (25 months), no biting since an early experiment with his teeth. I sometimes have teeth marks around my nipples, but he hasn't actually bit me IYSWIM.

Soon you will be able to have that night out even without expressing. Having water instead won't do your ds any harm.

pretty candles i tried nanny quite early on but i ll give it another go around 10mths i think,

just chatted with my dh last night about it and he was saying that it looks realtively easy/handy now as its so quick and ds is like clockwork for when he is hungry.

and i do get out....going to Kylie this week!!

Hermykne... I hope I didn't come across in the wrong way with my earlier post. If I do please forgive me; I have flu and am feeling very groggy. I meant to say it's nice to hear other Mums who still feed at 8/9/12/24 months..whatever age. Even a lot of health care professionals seem to think that we should stop bf at 6 months. As for me and DD2, I would think she feeds maybe four times a day, and also suckles for comfort at night. If she's well and not teething then she'll maybe wake twice in the night but if she's poorly then she'll be permanently attached to my boob. I'm extraordinarily proud of getting this far as I only managed a few weeks with my other children. God, I'm rambling!!! Sorry.

I still feed dd2 more or less on demand, esp. when she has a cold like atm. I'm not getting a lot of support from my hv for this but have got lots from here!!!! Also I started a thread on the benefits of bfeeding beyond 12 mo because of pressure from my g.p. which was really helpful.

Marmaladesun, yes, we do co-sleep part of the night. It varies as to how much dd2 wakes to feed, but it's usually at least three times. Actually the continual night feeding is one thing I 've had enough of - we all need some sleep - but I won't be doing anything about it until her cold is over. I've found a gentle plan in the Baby Whisperer for Toddlers book for someone in exactly this position which we will be trying.

Marmaladesun, I know how you feel about being proud, I only managed a week with dd1 and I was heartbroken when we stopped. I love bfeeding dd2 and it's been very healing for me. Well done you!

i am just curious really who, when i see other names being posted inthis topic or sleep toppic, whos a breast feeder or not, so its really for my mental pic of the scene on mumsnet as such.

i have him in his own room as i 'd be on the floor if he shared our bed, dh has to leave if i take him in the morn, he just pushes you out!

Still breast feeding at 13 months. She's only bitten me once, my response must have shocked her because she's never done it again!!! I can't even tell they are there now!

I am still breastfeeding at 8 months. I went back to work when he was six months and for a while I was expressing during the day for him, but I have stopped as of this week. Still feeding him in the morning, the evening and (sometimes) during the night. He's got two teeth but hasn't bitten me yet.

Fed DS2 until he was about 15 months. He did bite me a few times, but I survived
