Anyone else prepared to admit they actively wanted to bf in order to stick it to The Man!

Of course, breast is best for my baby, and all.

But - anyone else read 'The Politics of Breastfeeding' and think: no damn evil corporation is going to take advantage of my need to feed my baby, dammit. Those lousy companies, still responsible for infant deaths in the developing world, ain't getting a penny of my cash.

Etc. Etc.

Breastfeeding was as much a political issue for me as it was a bonding and nurturing one. I'm not afraid to admit it!

In your face, The Man!

i mean, obviously i know HOW... but tell me more

mawbroon · 02/01/2009 21:54

None of this was my motivation with ds because I didn't know any of it at the time!

But it will definitely be a factor in choosing to breastfeed any subsequents that I might be lucky enough to have

TheFallenMadonna · 02/01/2009 21:56

No.

And I feel as though I missed a trick now.

I do like a bit of bolshiness.

NotBigJustBolshy · 02/01/2009 21:59

Nope, it was just about me and my child and my pride at it all being my own work. Was a bit crabby about ever having to give them any real food, tbh.

BoffinMum · 02/01/2009 22:00

Not continuously!!!!! It's just I have had three children with big gaps between, and have another on the way.

I am far too lazy and tight fisted to bottlefeed.

LittleBella · 02/01/2009 22:02

oh yes

Penthesileia · 02/01/2009 22:05

Yes, well, laziness may have played a part, too.

But that is, of course, much less heroic than sticking it to The Man. Damn him.

AnybodyHoHoHomeMcFly · 02/01/2009 22:07

Yes , not at the start but as time went on I felt more and more strongly about it. Will def be an issue for DC2 (due apr). I too have been sadly lacking in tuts in cafes, blardy right on west london. Have had my rant allll saved up!

ThePlanningCommittee · 02/01/2009 22:15

Has anyone ever worked out the carbon footprint of FF? I bet its massive.

BoffinMum · 02/01/2009 22:53

That's fightin talk.

AnarchyAunt · 02/01/2009 22:56

Ecological impact

WilfSell · 02/01/2009 23:05

'stick it to the man'

rofl

I grew up in a sort-of commune. I rebelled by wearing lipstick and enjoying shopping. The memory of my own mother running a 'let's all look at our cervix' class for my youth club is still a raw memory. I'd like to think I am a bit more, er, complex in my politics these days.

But I see your point.

KatieMorag · 02/01/2009 23:07

hey, there are so many good reasons to bf if you can. whatever rocks your boat

Penthesileia · 02/01/2009 23:09

You mean you don't want to look at your cervix, Wilf?

Slacker.

OP posts:
WilfSell · 02/01/2009 23:10

Hey. Me and my cervix are best buddies.

BoffinMum · 02/01/2009 23:10

Let's all look at our cervixes now then.

Are we feeling empowered yet???

ThePlanningCommittee · 02/01/2009 23:12

I think looking at our own cervixes is yet another mighty and powerful way to jiggle our bits in the face of The Man, but perhaps we should all look here in order to appreciate the full rebelliousness of this thread

Penthesileia · 02/01/2009 23:14

And HEY! ... Are you saying my politics are simplistic for wanting to stick it to The Man?

[feels slightly hurt emoticon].

Wait...

Are you The Man?

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 02/01/2009 23:15

x-post, ThePlanningCommittee!

OP posts:
WilfSell · 02/01/2009 23:16

No. Just teasing.

I prolly did [want to stick it to The Man].

It's just the whole hippy thang makes me hyperventilate and cringe and smile fondly all at the same time.

Penthesileia · 02/01/2009 23:17

I am not a hippy. I own a Boden top!
