This is what my SIL is contemplating.

yes.

mogthecat · 12/09/2008 23:37

yes of course

emkana · 12/09/2008 23:37

My mum was outraged at the thought, but I thought she should as well.

without a hesitation

EvilWillow · 12/09/2008 23:37

Yes. Absolutely.

pooka · 12/09/2008 23:38

Yep.

Bowddee · 12/09/2008 23:39

No, but only because I preferred peace and quiet when I was feeding DS. Our time iyswim.

I'd also want an excuse to get away from DH's boss!

moondog · 12/09/2008 23:39

Yes.God, as if anyone cares.
Honestly.

emkana · 12/09/2008 23:40

Is there an age cut-off when the baby is too old and they might pull away from the breast and leave you too exposed or some such?

(baby is 3 months old btw)

How old is "newborn"? I found it much easier to be discreet with tiny ds than with big hulking 9 month old!!

emkana · 12/09/2008 23:43

3 months

Aww - at 3 months the baby will probably nod off on the breast and your SIL will be able to eat in peace!!

lisad123 · 12/09/2008 23:43

I would say yes. When DD2 was 2 weeks old we went to friends for dinner and me and friend both sat eating and BFing, no one minded.

unknownrebelbang · 12/09/2008 23:45

I don't think I would have done when I was BFing mine.

I would consider it these days though, were I ever to be in that position again (not a chance!).

TrinityWino · 12/09/2008 23:45

3 months os the perfect age to do it anywhere, literally, and noone will be in the least bothered
she should just go for it

saying that I would do it with 19 month old gecko too...

Feenie · 12/09/2008 23:49

yes

mindy27 · 12/09/2008 23:51

absoflippinlutely lol

LyraSilvertongue · 12/09/2008 23:52

No, not unless I knew the people really well. I'd find a nice quiet room to feed DS in.

pudding25 · 13/09/2008 08:48

No but that is because my dd is off and on all the time. She is 4mths and has been like this since she was about 10wks! I have huge boobs too so I would not feel relaxed or comfortable as my boobs would probably end up on full view. Also, DD would be in bed at adult dinner time!
Saying that, I dont think there is anything wrong with doing it if she feels comfortable.

harpsichordcarrier · 13/09/2008 08:50

yes, I would
If I had a newborn which thank god I don't
I wouldn't bf my nearly three year old though

stroppyknickers · 13/09/2008 08:50

No because I would want to be wearing gorgeous lovey clothes that I would thern need to unzip to my waist...

lilymolly · 13/09/2008 08:54

No I would find a more comfortable seat in the same room

FourArms · 13/09/2008 09:03

Definitely.

In fact, fed DS2 recently at a BBQ thrown by DH's boss. We were sat at a garden table. I'd taken DS2 out to the car a few times to feed, then fed him in the study, and then got fed up of going 'somewhere else' to feed him, and just did it where I was. It was past his bedtime, so it was that, or go home. DS2 is 2yrs 2mnths by the way. With an 8 week old I would have been happy to do it absolutely anywhere. I still am, but am just starting to get a little concious of it as he's getting older.

ninja · 13/09/2008 09:17

Yes, unless I'd decided to wear something nice but impractical

feedmenow · 13/09/2008 09:21

I remember feeding dd1 at a table and nobody even noticed! In fact, it happened quite a lot in different places - people don't have a clue if you are discreet!
