This is what my SIL is contemplating.

Agree with feedmenow.
Was funny when my sister was bfeeding her DD at my wedding sit down meal. When it came to speeches and everyone stood up to toast, my sister stayed sat down, just in case!

chipmonkey · 13/09/2008 09:32

Yes, yes, yes.
I would not, however squirt milk at the boss, that would bad form.

ChupitosGalore · 13/09/2008 09:34

Yup

would and did feed newborns anywhere and anytime they wanted.
better than sitting there with them grizzling/crying or having to get up and leave, surely??

Spidermama · 13/09/2008 09:36

No question at all.

Your mum is being old fashioned and unrealistic.

Ready4anotherCoffee · 13/09/2008 09:36

yes, but i have no hang ups with whipping them out to feed

Spidermama · 13/09/2008 09:37

I've done it in church during a wedding.

I've also had weddings ruined by screaming babies whos mothers didn't do it.

SuperPsychoFabioSlayer · 13/09/2008 09:38

I would not have done it with my first, but then, the look of pain on my face even four weeks after the birth would have put everyone off their dinner (not sure I would have gone anywhere tho that early TBH).

with each of the others tho, yes, I would.

NorthernLurker · 13/09/2008 09:45

emkana do you disagree with you sil's plan? Seems very sensible to me...

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 13/09/2008 09:47

yep

OneLieIn · 13/09/2008 09:56

Probably not. big norks and feeling v. self conscious.

Mungarra · 13/09/2008 09:57

Yes, I would.

Cloudhopper · 13/09/2008 09:58

NO way. For some reason I didn't mind breastfeeding in 'anonymous public' places, but not in such a formal place like a dinner table.

Would just head off somewhere a bit more private.

belgo · 13/09/2008 10:00

Presumably the baby is welcome at the birthday bash, so yes, I would bf my baby at the table.

bronze · 13/09/2008 10:04

I wouldn't but thats because I found feeding in a normal chair with no support uncomfortable. I would have no problem with someone else doing it though.

Blu · 13/09/2008 10:05

It would depend on the vibe and what I was wearing. But almost certainly, yes. I fed DS in the boardroom of a v formal AGM a which I was giving a presentation.

But in the case of my DP's particular boss - a full-on lentil weaver as any, definitely

sophiebbb · 13/09/2008 10:06

Yes of course - I whip 'em out whenever DD needs to feed! discretely under a blanket - no risk of exposure. People probably won't even notice if done quietly TBH

aGalChangedHerName · 13/09/2008 10:08

Yes would and have done with a baby and toddler 2+. No reason not to imo.

mellyonion · 13/09/2008 10:13

i would....in fact i fed my 3 week old dd at my friends wedding...sat next to the groom while his mum cut up my dinner for me!! (was a very relaxed wedding!)

i would say that she'll need a really nice comfy somthing to wear, so she can feed discreetly and feel that she's not fussing too much...somthing with nice fluidy layers to pull up and still drape over her tummy and bare skin iykwim...

tegan · 13/09/2008 10:15

I would feed my baby anywhere. I am of the philosophy that if baby is hungry it needs feeding whenever and where ever i may be and dh is fine with the fact i am willing to get get me norks out at any given opportunity

quaranta · 13/09/2008 10:21

yes of course. why not? take a pashmina if you feel exposed. i fed anywhere and everywhere whenever my DSs needed feeding.
