When did your period return and how many feeds were you giving a day?

No sign of mine and DD 10 months old. DH and I are keen to start trying for the next baby. Out of interest, (as I am getting impatient now!) when did your period return and how many feeds were you giving when it did?

And if you could all do a little 'bring on the period' dance with some chanting too for me, that would be much appreciated.

Both times, I got my period about 60 days after I finished breast feeding.

9 months after births, both times - probably feeding twice a day at least as back at work..but expressing a bit too

btw, my children were both 9 months when I stopped BFing. So both times I had my cycle back just before they were one. htp.

9 months when down to one feed a day with DS2. With DS1, stopped feeding after 4 months and still took till 7 months to come back.

BIOTB - you could have been me before Christmas, DS was 11months and only feeding at bedtime and first thing in the morning, and I had had one period! Then he got that vicious tummy D+V bug and ate nothing but boob and boiled water for a few days so I missed a period, then had 2 more at pre baby spacing before falling pg again
I didn't actually stop feeding him completely till he was 14months when I had sore boobs from pg!
I would say they will be back soon, especially if you are cutting down the number of feeds you are giving.

Thanks everyone. It seems we are all so different! Never thought I would be wanting to see my period again so much!

Yorky - DD has cut down to 2 feeds a day now, and recently started going through the night too, so am thinking maybe it will happen soon? Congrats on being pg again!

When DS2 went onto solids at 6 mths mine returned. He was still feeding at night but down to maybe 2, max. 3 in the day.

both times periods returned within 8 weeks. that said although I demand fed both boys slipped into a 3-4 hour routine really quickly

you might as well start trying for baby anyway - might still be ovulating even though no period - good luck

we are trying anyway... It's difficult not knowing if I am ovulating though... spend the whole time symptom spotting, thinking I am either pregnant or that my period is about to come! And then read other things and realise my period might not come back until I stop BF altogether and have no plans to do that!

About 10 months after DD1 and 9 months after DD2. However after DD1 they were all over the place and I only had 3 before getting pg again when DD1 was 16 months old. I stopped bf at around 5 months both times. Both slept through the night since 2 months so no night feeds after that. I guess everyone's different

I got pregnant again while still exclusively breastfeeding my baby, without having had a period since giving birth (he was 6 months old). So just start trying anyway - you never know!

I feel cheated

Each time (and there have been 3) my period has returned by 8 months and thats WITH exclusive BF.

like alexpolismum I got pregnant again no period in between when Ds1 was 7/8 months.

ds 2 is 11 months and still no period.

It's lovely: over 3 years period free

I know one lady whose periods didn't come back for nearly 2 years everytime.

Isn't it great, Wisknit! I especially liked it when they were booking me in for my second pregnancy and asked "Date of last period?" And I answered "2006" . The expressions on their faces!

With all 3 of my BF babes my period came back 4/5 weeks after i had them. Bloody pain!!

Mine came back last month (dd was 9months) never so glad for that time of the month as was worried I was pregnant again (dd is a handful so cannot handle another) .

Forgot to say. Still breastfeeding alot day and night.

Feeds every hour at least when awake.
