Am off to work now - glad you have got support from this thread. Your treatment was appalling.

Where i work you would have been advised skin-to-skin contact. Early breastfeeds. If problems latching you would have been advised to express colostrum to be given by syringe. Formula would have been a last resort, and if it was necessary you would have been advised to give it by cup.

We are a Babyfriendly hospital though

jetjets, your post made me cry. I had a terrible experience of after care after the birth of my dd last june. If it wasn't for the support of one very special midwife who i was lucky to meet on my third day in hospital, i very much doubt i would have succeeded in bfing. Glad to say although it was awful for the first 6 weeks we managed to stick with it and i'm still feeding now.
Send in that complaint, hopefully it will change things for the better.
