if you ff, did you choose to because of packaging?
advertising?
logos?
and if not, why not?

I started off on SMA because that's what the midwife gave DH at 3am when I rang in desparation because after 1 days my milk hadn't come in and DD was starving. We swapped to Aptimil because DD was constipated on SMA and loads of friends recommended Aptimil. I do like the fact that the box has a leveling thingy. I din't really know which to choose as I'd wanted to BF and didn't even have a bottle in the house

One thing stands out from this thread, Aptamil have done a FABULOUS job with midwives and HVs!

NuttyMuffins · 16/04/2007 22:11

No, nothing whatsoever to do with packaging, advertising or logos.

FF was just what I preffered to do. Used SMA with Dd1 and 2 because it was the one you could get anywhere, and used Farleys and then Omnio Comfort with Ds.

I bf DD1 and DS first, then both were ff with Farleys (not sure why i chose Farleys as can't remember that far back, maybe because i like rusks..?). I don't think it was anything to do with advertising.. I can't actually picture Farleys formula ads anyway... Our dd2 is ff Aptamil as it was recommended by midwives and HVs.

Yay Nally - where you been????

Twinklemegan · 16/04/2007 22:50

I wanted organic formula (this was before I ended up formula feeding, it was "just in case"). Tesco had two - Cow & Gate and HIPP. The HIPP came in individual sachets which I thought would be wasteful, the Cow & Gate didn't. I chose C&G and stuck with it when I switched to the cheaper regular formula.

I ff because I tried and failed 3 times to bf - I used SMA with DS as it was what they gave him when he was born after i couldn't feed him so I used on DD1 as it was what I used first time round- this time I actually made a considered decision and chose Aptamil as it has DHAs and Omega 3 in which I give the other 2 in vitamins and also take myself after Professor Winston showed the effects on concentration, learning and behaviour - it smells a tad fishy to my over developed sense of smell but so much better than SMA - my HV only agreed with my choice she never suggested it and was actually concerned with the price. Mind you but it from Tescos, Asda or Sainsburys it can cost up to a quid more a some other places.
