DD1 - 6 months
DD2 - 3 months

Couldn't feed DD2 as long as DD1 as I suffered really badly with PND and I found it really hard work second time round for various reasons.

shimmy21 · 20/09/2006 20:53

ds1 8 months, ds2 1 yr

stopped both times because it felt the right time and had dwindled down to just a bedtime cuddle by then anyway.

Neither ds seemed to mind stoppimg at all - for me the boost of renewed energy (and sex drive) when I stopped was amazing.

misdee · 20/09/2006 20:53

dd1 6 weeks, lack of support told to put her on formula.

dd2 8 weeks, was very tired

dd3 still going 18months.

Spidermama · 20/09/2006 20:54

I'm still feeding ds4 (19 months) but my other three all stopped somewhere between 2.5 and 3.5. Years.

As for why, it just gradually petered out until one day I noticed they hadn't fed for a week or two. I barely even noticed.

I may notice this time as ds4 is my last.

FrannyandZooey · 20/09/2006 20:54

Still going....

I think I may stop when he is old enough to have a paper round

carlsberg · 20/09/2006 20:56

ds1for 8 months, stopped because I was pg again.
Had bleeding while pg and advised to stop b/feeding.
Ds2 for 14 months.

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 20/09/2006 20:56

ds1 - 13 months
dd - 14 months
ds2 - still going, aged 4 months

each time, stopped because I didn't want to go much over a year with them, and made a personal decision that that was the age to stop for me.

mazzystar · 20/09/2006 20:58

5 months. i hated it.

beansprout · 20/09/2006 21:00

Still going.... are you thinking of stopping rickman? Have to say, it has crossed my mind over the last week but I can't see me convincing ds just yet!

Blu · 20/09/2006 21:00

DS was exclusively bf until 4 months, still feeding morning and night at 18 months, then bedtime til 22 months. I started to feel a bit tied to it, we stopped without any fuss or upset.

chocolateshoes · 20/09/2006 21:01

Until 14.5 months - didn't really want to give up but had various work comittments which meant I couldn't always be there to feed. DS went straight on to milk from a beaker - now with me or DP.

trinityshiftingherleatheryarse · 20/09/2006 21:02

dd1 - 14 months, serious PND and was told to stop so I could take the ad's

dd2- she weaned herself at 9 months, she just wasn't interested anymore (I really tried not to stop, was a little sad to but hey)

I intended to go on for a year but DS decided to stop at 9 months. He just wouldn't have any and we thought he wasn't hungry - but when offered formula he wolfed it down. Was quite upset actually.

IdrisTheDragon · 20/09/2006 21:05

DS 9.5 months
DD 10.5 months

In both cases it just seemed the right time to stop - can't remember the last breastfeed in either case.

DD1 - 9mths. Stopped because she was at nursery 3 days a week and despite by best efforts, I couldn't express enough so she had formula and my supply gradually dwindled.

DD2 - 18mths and counting!

bananaloaf · 20/09/2006 21:06

ds1 4 months

ds2 6.5 2days ago teeth

hunkermunker · 20/09/2006 21:09

DS1 - nearly 17m, self-weaned because I was pg (I think that was the reason - I was already producing colostrum one side as I was only feeding from the other once a day so think my milk had changed taste).

DS2 - 8m and no sign of stopping yet.

hunkermunker · 20/09/2006 21:14

Oh Rickman You have to decide what's right for you. If stopping would be the best thing for you and your state of mind, then stop. But if it'd make you feel more sad, don't stop.

You have a lot on your plate. FWIW, I often think of you and how (shit, this will sound a bit trite and cheesy and possibly patronising) hard it must be for you. Hugs, sweetheart x x x x

FrannyandZooey · 20/09/2006 21:16

Rickman, you must do what is best for you, but I would bear in mind when making your decision, the positive effect breastfeeding hormones will be having on your mood. It's not the most important factor but it is a factor, and one most doctors won't be taking into account.

CJinSussex · 20/09/2006 21:19

DD1 - 12 mths. She was ready to stop and so was I.

DS1 - 4 mths. We just couldn't get on with it. I expressed for a bit longer but there wasn't enough.

DD2 - 12 mths. Just like big sis plus I think she wanted spouty cups and all the things that her sibs were having!

Seems ever such a long time ago but DD2 is 2 tomorrow (she is SO excited!!!!) so it was only last year. Cluck, cluck, getting broody again.

sweetkitty · 20/09/2006 21:19

DD1 - 12.5 months was 3.5 months pregnant by then was down to one morning feed by then and one day she didn't ask.

DD2 - 8 months and no sign of stopping think she will be feeding when she passes her driving test, seriously though I plan to stop when she is 12 months to give myself 6 months to recover before ttc no3
