I've been exclusively BF my 14 week old DD. I used to express 1 feed a day, but she started sleeping 12 through the night from 9 weeks, and so I didn't bother to express anymore as she was only feeding 5 times a day. Around this time her weight gain slowed right down, obviously due to a sudden drop in her feeds, so I began to give her a dream feed at around 11pm. I have the grandparents coming over on Friday to do some babysitting on Friday, and I'm toying with the idea of leaving Formula for them to do the late feed, as I've really got out of the habit of expressing. It's only one feed and I would consider doing it maybe a couple more times in the next few months. It can't be that bad can it? For some reason I feel guilty even considering letting Formula pass her lips before 6 months...

pumpkinpi, I mix fed my DS from about 8 weeks I think, one bottle of formula before bed, gave me a break, let DH be involved and stopped me giving up b/f all together, lots of people told ne that it would be a slippery slope to formula feeding, but actually dod breast feeding the rest of the time until 6 moths, when I stopped out of choice. Knowinf he took a bottle did mean the odd nioght out though which was nice! Think if you are determined it can work well, but appreciate tiktok's advice too. I did not use MN then, maybe if I had I would have coped better with the early breast feeding days

I think someone should print out and bundle up and send off the bf/ff threads to someone like Victoria Wood, I would so LOVE to hear what she made of all that goes on re; this subject on here

seriously though seems like tiktok came through with the salient points as she always seems to glad it made it possible for you to decide what to do. Sounds like the right decision to express - you will certainly not regret that decision; you 99% probably wouldn't have had cause to regret a bottle of formula either but with that 1% niggle I would have made the same choice, as this was a matter not of necessity iyswim.

Ooops - sorry about the little debate I kicked off, but wanted to say thanks for all the advice everyone. I had a good 4oz squeeze this morning - and am looking forward to a good night out!!

Don't be sorry, Pumpkin! Boards are like a conversation - as long as the original enquirer gets some help and support, I don't think it matters if the conversation extends into debate

With that territory, it's inevitable you get the occasional contribution that riles people.
