Lost weight BFing & was back to prepregnancy weight quite fast. Stopped BF & put on half a stone, which is proving a bugger to shift.

coppertop · 02/01/2006 20:53

Didn't lose any while bf'ing ds1. Lost a little bit of weight when I stopped.

Lost loads of weight while bf'ing ds2 but it started to creep back on again when I stopped.

tegan · 02/01/2006 21:00

I lost nearly a stone in the 5 weeks I bf for but as soon as I stopped it started to creep on so really had to watch what i was eating.

blueshoes · 02/01/2006 21:04

Lost weight gradually whilst bf-ing dd for 17 months. Then weight loss accelerated after stopping until below pre-preg but now creeping up again. No exercise beyond childcare.

leogaela · 02/01/2006 21:16

I lost weight after the first few months while bfeeding, then it stabilised at a few kilos too much. But lost again very quickly after I stopped bfeeding even though at the end I wasn't bfeeding much my appetite didn't drop until I stopped completely.

No, not while bf'ing
And no, not when I stopped either

Now, when I stopped eating chocolate, that helped

Yummymummy24 · 02/01/2006 21:31

Hello, you will probly all hate me now but i lost my baby weight in about 3months after both babies thanks to breastfding. Its the only reason i did it!!!!!!

EatDrinkAndBeAMerryPip · 02/01/2006 21:33

Bf both my sons for a year each. Lost loads of weight bf whilst eating huge amounts. Put some weight back on after stopping both times. Maybe because I still eat huge amounts! Have been around the same weight for years (except when pregnant of course).

As for boobs and tummy. Very sad. Have no boobs whatsoever, they feel empty & there´s too much skin (attractive). Tummy quite flat but not as tight as before obviously. Fine stood up, but creases up like an old lady´s skin when I bend down!

Cadmum · 02/01/2006 21:35

Lost it all within a few months with BF and walking everywhere all 3 times. (According to my notes, I actually started my second pregnancy 8 lbs lighter than my first and started my third 2 lbs lighter still.) I cannot say that this is the case for this pregnancy as I was a bit heavier to begin with... Hope it comes off as easily this time (now that I am older and lazier! )

suedonim · 02/01/2006 21:52

Lost an absolute pile of weight and ended up at 6st 12lb within weeks of having ds2, which wasn't healthy for me. I gradually lost the extra weight over the first year of dd1's life but only lost a bit with dd2 and am now heavier than I've ever been, at nearly 10st, boohoo.

georginars · 02/01/2006 21:56

Neither
but was pretty lardy to start with, might be back to pre DD weight now I suppose but far too frightened to weigh myself
Actually, I did find I lost a bit when I stopped breasfeeding, probably becasue I stopped being so utterly ravenous.

Whilst BF...went down to 6 st and couldn't keep it on, so gave up bf......!

Helen38 · 03/01/2006 08:37

Lost some slowly but got past 6mth bf and it fell off my bum and hips fed till 11mths, but with ds2 stopped at 6mths and then had to work at it. Took till he was 31/2 to get to where i wanted to be now am 32wks pg and fat again!!!!

pupucelovesruDOuLaph · 03/01/2006 08:37

whilst breastfeeding (both times).... ended up weighing less than ever!

merryberry · 03/01/2006 08:45

lol at fruitful!

at 6 mth bf i am eating like a small herd of horses while sitting on my arse all day and not getting any heavier, so I think bf'ing would have me lose weight if i ate normally.

oh, i am so hungry, so often. am interested to see what will happen rest of year. much of it is down to me not being out and about as much i think.

Blondeinlondon · 03/01/2006 11:03

I am still bf at 10 mths and have not lost any weight
I have now given up chocolate
Tempted to give up bf but oh the guilt!

only lost weight after stopping bf. I even put on a stone bf dd2 . all those sweet cravings....

Kelly1978 · 03/01/2006 11:13

I wish I lost after! I lost loads while bfeeding, went down to prepg dress size within 6 weeks. This time though, soon as I stopped I piled it back on If I had realised that was going to happen I think I would have carried on for longer!

Laura032004 · 03/01/2006 12:13

Whilst bf - had about 3 stone to lose (after I'd given birth ), a stone or so came off within a couple of weeks, another stone in a couple of months, and then it was about 8 months before it was all gone.

I'm not really going to have a break between bf ds and bf the next one (currently 15w pg and no firm plans to stop bf - hoping for miraculous self-weaning when colostrum comes in), so I won't find out if I would have lost any more when stopping

sweetkitty · 03/01/2006 12:21

After birth lost 2 stone gained in pregnancy plus another stone, was still BFing DD at 9 months when I became pregnant with no2 so have put weight back on again.

Think mine was less to do with Bfing and more to do with not being at work and constantly munching at my desk.

honneybunny · 03/01/2006 12:41

I am tandemfeeding ds1 and ds2 at the moment. Ds2 will be 3 weeks on friday, and I have already dropped 12kg since the birth, and 6kg to go to my pre-pregnancy weight. Jippy!

Em32 · 03/01/2006 12:43

Definitely afterwards. The weight fell off.
