What proportion of your life have you spent breastfeeding?

peppapighastakenovermylife · 31/07/2011 19:34

Sitting here musing about DS2 nearly being a year old I realised I have spent 4 years of my life breastfeeding - that's nearly 15% of my life. If you take pregnancy into that as well I have spent over 20% of my life pregnant/
breastfeeding or 67% of my adult life doing so Shock.

How long have you breastfed and been pregnant for in total?

OP posts:
BellaBearisWideAwake · 31/07/2011 19:35

Three sixty fourths. For each

BellaBearisWideAwake · 31/07/2011 19:36

So three thirty twoths in total. Roughly.

EauRouge · 31/07/2011 19:42

Holy crap. Nearly 10% Shock I think I was pregnant for about 10 years. Felt like it anyway. Grin

orangehead · 31/07/2011 19:45

Is this a maths test because Im rubbish at working out %. Bf for 20 months in total. Been pregnant for 25 months in total. So think thats just over 11% of my whole life. But if you add in all the years of ttc, grieving for lost babies I think a very high percentage of my adult life has been baby obsessed :(

RhinestoneCowgirl · 31/07/2011 19:49

Yep, about 15% of my life I think... In fact as of today I have been breastfeeding for 5 years, with just a 5 month break between baby one and two as DS stopped when I was pg with DD.

If DD has her way quite a few percentage points will be added Wink

DitaVonCheese · 31/07/2011 19:50

I have been pg and/or bf for the whole of 2008-now so just over 3.5 years. I'm 35 on Thurs so I guess that's 10% of my life. But right now it feels like FOREVER.

deemented · 31/07/2011 19:52

I'm rubbish at maths too.

I've been breastfeeding continuously for the last 38 months.

I've been pregnant in total for 34 months and three weeks, that includes losses at six, seven and ten weeks, a 28 week pregnancy, two 39 week pregnancies and am currently ten weeks pregnant again.

My granny got pregnant at 18, had her eleventh and last baby at 33, and breastfed continuously from the age of 18 until her last one weaned when she was 35. Rather her than me!

pigpog · 31/07/2011 19:57

3 years of my life breastfeeding so far (DS2 isn't quite a year old), 18 months pregnant. So 4.5 years in all, not including the years TTC, and I'm almost 25. I'll round it up, and it's 20% I think. Sorry my maths is awful.

Sorry for your losses orangehead :( I've also lost babies, it never gets any easier does it (hugs)

andthenshewasdone · 31/07/2011 20:00

5 years breastfeeding, and i am 35. i can work out its 1/7 but not the percentage

faverolles · 31/07/2011 20:03

54 months BFing in the last 10/11 years. Still feeding dc4.
I'm 35
(no way can my brain do the maths ATM)

potplant · 31/07/2011 20:06

I've got DTs so 8 months bf and only pg for 7 and a bit months, so a tiny proportion of my life.

I'm very efficient!

BertieBotts · 31/07/2011 20:08

12%. Including pregnancy, 15%.

EauRouge · 31/07/2011 20:10

I'm glad I'm 30 and DD1 is almost 3, it made it much easier to work out Grin

Purplebuns · 31/07/2011 20:13

Breastfed for 26 months, pregnant for 15 months and I am young so about 15%ish and almost my entire adult life I have been doing this.

Purplebuns · 31/07/2011 20:14

Oh and only one child so far though hoping this bean is a sticky one.

BuckBuckMcFate · 31/07/2011 20:15

39 months pregnant
7 years breastfeeding

I'm 35 and reckon I've still got another year of feeding left to do.

MrsTittleMouse · 31/07/2011 20:16

5.83% (rec) of my entire life or
10.6% of my adult life

But if you add up all the time TTC (failing), diagnosis, treatment, pregnancy and breastfeeding
15.4% and
28%

Even scarier is that it's 74% of my married life. But that's because DH and I took an age to get ours acts together and get married. :) I'm glad it's all over now and we can move onto the next stage. :)

BuckBuckMcFate · 31/07/2011 20:16

Or 84 months breastfeeding.

TruthSweet · 31/07/2011 20:35

25 when pg with DD1, am 31 now and have been pg or bfing or pg and bfing or tandem nursing or pg and tandem nursing since June 2005.

I have clocked up 27m of pg, and 107m cumulative or 64m consecutively so 19.35% of my life or 46% of my adult life Shock Got a few more years to go yet as DD3 is only 21m....

peppapighastakenovermylife · 31/07/2011 20:50

Orange I'm sorry Sad

Deemented Shock at your grandmother and yes rather her than me

Not a maths test I used the calculator Wink

84 months - wow! Grin

And I reckon twins count twice Grin

OP posts:
pearlgirl · 31/07/2011 20:58

171 weeks pregnant. 9 and a half years bf so far - ds4 still going strong at 16 months. I'm 42 now - had ds1 at 29.

msbuggywinkle · 31/07/2011 21:03

So far, 20%.

Had DD1 at 21, breastfed her for 5 years, am 26 now. DD2 still going strong at 2.6 and expecting DD3 in December!

pixiestix · 31/07/2011 21:06

9 months pregnant, 10 months breastfeeding - what a novice! Grin

Kveta · 31/07/2011 21:06

hmm, only 6.2% Bfing, 8.7% bfing/pg. but DS is only 22 months and showing absolutely no sign of stopping, plus we're TTC DC2 so I imagine that percentage will increase.

twinklegreen · 31/07/2011 21:18

13% of my whole life I have been breastfeeding.
8% of my whole life pregnant :)
