I was quite excited. Lady looked quite taken aback. DS is not quite 6 months!

WoTmania - it was from a friend who has a bit of a problem with breastfeeding. She had no children at the time, but told me when I was pregnant that she thought I should definetely not breastfeed as her cousin had 'hated it'. Hmm

She was constantly telling me things like 'if you formula feed, you'll see how much he's eating - it's better that way.' It was like the mere thought of breastfeeding offended her!

LostinIndia, "I got my first comment at 10mnths when 2 'friends' screeched bitty at me when I mentioned I was 'still' bfing"

Pull your shoulders back, smile and say, "Yep, Bitty Queen." And if that isn't a f*ck you, then I don't know what is.

We got our first comment at 10 weeks, well my OH did from childless SIL and MIL piped in agreeing. Her "oh it'll be so much easier when Tarlia stops breastfeeding and uses formula" OH "no if I know Tarlia she will be determined to try to fed until 12 months".

This was after both of them telling me, several times that I was feeding baby too much. "Oh is he still eating!?" "all he does is eat" in the end I turned around and asked them what they would like baby to do and that newborns only tended to eat, sleep and cuddle.

They both go on and on about when I should wean onto solids. I could go on!!

I just hope that breastfeeding is soon back in 'fashion'!

I had a lot of 'still feeding?' questions with DD1 who I fed till 16 months and have just started getting them with DD2 (7 months). It's never been asked in an unpleasant way though - it's just that for many people who ask I am the only person they know who has fed for more than a couple of months. They always just seem more interested than anything else. Particularly the logistics of feeding a child with teeth.
