How many of you have got pregnant whilst breastfeeding?

Just wondering...I have been BF for 10mo and haven't had a period or any sign of one yet.

Has anyone been through this...i.e. not had periods, still been feeding their LO and then found out they were pregnant?

Not that I'm concerned or anything.....!

A very good friend has a 9mo DS and has just found out she is expecting her second. She is 15weeks but only found out 3 weeks ago. Her first was an IVF baby and they were told they would never conceive naturally.

My mum.....I have a brother 17 months younger than me......and a very pissed off mother ( at the time ). She came round in the end tho'.

I have, twice. Quite a few of my friends have too (although they all BF for longer than 'average' too so abaies were all at least a year) mu mum did aswell

oh, and both times I got pg it was on the first ovulation so no periods between pregnancies

Me too! DS1 was 17 months when I fell pg with DS2. Was only feeding morning and night by that time (I think). But we've been much more careful this time

Yes, a friend of mine was BF her 2 month old and got pregnant. There's 11 months between her boys.

My mum - I was 5 weeks old ......

I have, when number one was 9 months old. Was only feeding twice a day at that point.

until last week was still breastfeeding dd4. my LMP was in feb 2008 when i concieved dd4. Am now 18 weeks pregnant with dc5. feels a bit weird tbh.

oh, and i appear to have fallen pregnnat around the time when dd4 started sleeping through the night

i had 2 periods, but yes, got pg while breastfeeding a lot, day and night

Me! DD was about 14 mo though, i think bfing is only effective as contraception if exclusive/regular including night feeds/under 6 mo with no foods

Me, but ds1 was 3.5yrs and had not long stopped night feeds. I had been ttc for 2.5yrs though....

Me. Only BF once a day at the time.
To add to littleducks, I was told it's not effective as a contraception, unless you feed 3 hourly the contraceptive effects will be inadequate.

Yes, twice. Had one period each time then pregnant!

Oh dear.....

Have been feeling a bit under the weather lately, tired and a bit sick. Also got 4 really sore spots on my face and I never get spots....but did when I was pg last time.

So popped out and did a test tonight but can't make head nor tail of it. When I first looked at it there was a + in the box but the downward line was very very faint. After about 10 mins or so it has all but gone but you can see it if you look very closely in the daylight.

What do you think? Would be REALLY bad timing as I am due to go back to work in 5 weeks and DS has just started sleeping through and cutting right back on feeds.
We are living with my parents while we build our house too. Oh God.

So I hope I am imagining the line, I don't want there to be one!!!

I mean I don't want there to be a line, not I don't want there to be a baby - I would be secretly delighted (but would be terrible timing!)

Loopy that is very interesting. My hubby said the same, that you would see a downward line/shadow as there would be a strip under there which would turn blue if you were pg. I think maybe I looked at it too early?
Hmm undecided. Tomorrow will tell I guess.

I thought my periods had returned when DD was 10 months old - it was actually an early miscarriage. The next month, we conceived DS. So definitely possible.
