Underwear washing

Looking for perspective from other Black mothers. At what age did you learn to hand-wash your underwear? If you have a daughter, when will you teach her to hand-wash her underwear?
My children's father is 'shocked' that I have no immediate plans to teach my daughter how to hand-wash her knickers.

But seeing 2-3 black undies hanging on a radiator would lead to any 5-7 year old to ask what they are doing there @Kanaloa

Surely they are drying like any other piece of clothing would be?. I hang underwear outside although I have a whirly airer out there and hang underwear in the inner layers of it

@cutebutscary my Grannie was Scottish and was always horrified that me, my Sister and cousin didn't hand wash our underwear. I hadn't considered it was cultural, I thought she was being a bit of a martyr God bless her soul! Sorry Grannie

I've really appreciated this thread! I didn't know until quite recently that my mum hand washes her underwear. She certainly didn't teach me!

Well James, some clothes don’t go in the tumble dryer, it can spoil them! You can just hang them up instead to dry. So they’re drying after being washed.

Surely it’s that simple?

And as for your DH I’ve no idea why they’d need to be ‘hidden’ from him. If he’s managed to father two children a couple of pairs of knickers should be within his capabilities.

But @Kanaloa I've not come on here looking for answers! I'm not searching for my culture or trying to explain my existence. You must agree that we (you and I) are from different cultures and have different practices with different histories. Therefore I and my family and my community will live and experience life and celebrate life differently to you. In my culture, men don't need to know when you are ripe for breeding, in dog terms.
