So, I go for a teensy-weensy leeetle hair cut and there are more birth announcements !!

Massive congratulations to twofalls and baby Polly ! Sounds like great homebirth story soon to follow..

Love all the names too BTW, Delilah and Polly, lovely - and Ethan is one of my boys middle name, so obviously phantastic .

ROFL at anna's baby going down the slide -but only sooo much ! Wouldn't be a good look in RL, mind...

And how I met DH, well, no, Mills and Boon it was most definetely NOT - not my proudest hour, but he behaved a complete gentleman...

More later, off to do some chores, gah!

donttrythisathome · 26/02/2010 16:45

Congrats Summer, twofalls and BPM. Fantastic news and lovely names.

Hope it ramps up for you soon TLC.

I just got Margaret Howell's hypnobirthing tape (yes, a bit late in the day I know as I'm due on Monday!) so off to listen to it with a creme egg (thanks Caitni forgot how much I LOOOOVE them).

Glycerine suppositories...hmmm...intriguing...

donttrythisathome · 26/02/2010 16:46

Tell us soon re meeting DH Pacific - my nose is twitching for some scandal!

BusyMissIzzy · 26/02/2010 16:52

Congratulations to Summer, BPM and Twofalls! Am slightly but mostly

TLC and MawBroon hope things keep moving for you (P.S. MawBroon I'm originally from Edinburgh, but currently living in London. Miss Edinburgh lots, esp. as my parents are there )

Felt the need to frantically finish tidying the misc. crap out of the nursery this morning, and this afternoon cooked chicken korma, spag bol and 2 casseroles for the freezer. Can't tell if it's nesting or just boredom...

Does anyone else have pets? We've relocated our cat's stuff to the living room in advance of the baby arriving, and the past 3 nights we've shut her out of our room completely. She really doesn't like it (usually sleeps on our bed), scratched at the door and miaowed a lot and seemed quite agitated in the morning. I feel bad about it, she doesn't understand why the door is closed, and we can't explain to her Just hope she gets used to it.

DrSkidaddle · 26/02/2010 17:11

Oi BPM twofalls and summer - that is known as QUEUE-JUMPING and it's NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!! Only joking - fantastic news and love the names Polly and Delilah - fantastic! Hope you are all enjoying your new little bundles.

Still nothing here and am now nearly a week overdue - but am feeling fine, have mentally adjusted my due date to 40+14 and am trying to enjoy these last few days of relative freedom before sleep deprivation and craziness takes hold... Induction not until 40+15 which is nice plus getting a sweep (after much protesting) this Monday so am feeling hopeful...

Good luck TLC - fingers crossed for you - maybe a bit of sex might spur things on as your DH is around?!

BellasYummyMummy · 26/02/2010 17:40

39 weeks today!!!! am wondering if this baby will make an appearance soon or if he/she will be late. So excited to find out the sex, but am terrified of the birth!!!! EEEK!!!!!!! Also dont know how i will cope with 21month DD and newborn, but i know I will somehow as millions of other mums do!!

Pingpong · 26/02/2010 18:46

Crikey !
Huge Congratulations to summer. BPM and twofalls busyMissIzzy I am also an Edinburgh girl originally - spent first 17 years of my life there. Still go back regularly.
sariska sorry to hear about possible redundancy, it must be a worry but hopefully the arrival of baby Sariska will distract you for a bit.
CS Advice - Like pacific I preferred PJ bottoms and a baggy top for BF purposes even though I had emcs. I found the hospital very hot so I had a baggy vest top on and dark pj bottoms.
Big pants are essential, you will still need maternity pads though to start off with and I had a big gush when I first stood up having been flat on my back for so many hours. A sports bottle is also good for drinking water as you can tip it up any angle and not have to lift your head off the pillow.
Take plenty of changes of clothes for yourself and baby and some plastic bags to send the dirty stuff home in. Nothing worse than getting the dirty stuff mixed up with clean stuff. I also had 2 separate bags, one had my stuff in and one for baby so that the MWs were rummaging around in baby's bag and not mine as they did all the initial baby care and meconium poo changes! and as a result in and out of the bag a lot!
Drskidaddle you are sounding calm about being overdue or maybe that is resigned to it!? 15 days over sounds like a lot, is that what you want or what the hospital have suggested? I went 8 days over with DD and had induction booked for 11 days over (10 is normal but it fell at the weekend) I am only 1 day over but feel so big I can't see how I could still be walking in another 13 days time.
Having thought I got sorted yesterday at the hospital with a plan of action I called the community MW today to ask about a sweep for Monday as a last attempt to get things moving naturally before CS on Tuesday. She couldn't believe I had been offered CS as they are very actively trying to reduce the number of CS. I feel a bit now as to whether I'm doing the right thing.
I have been offered a sweep tomorrow and again on Monday and can change my mind at any time about CS.
I know not many of you are believers in homeopathy (although I did note pacifics reference to arnica for post CS recovery!) but anyway I called my homeopath and have got a lovely little goodie bag of things to help promote labour, help with bruising, help with post surgery nerve pain and deep tissue pain. Although I made reference to accupuncture the other day if it was Caitni that had had her baby I don't really fancy the needles TBH so will try homeopathy and a host of other labour inducing tricks.
Thanks for all the comments on the Nappy website. The Untitled 1 tab is because the webdesinger hasn't submitted keywords yet for the search engines but will sort this out for us. I agree the images do flash past a bit quick! We are liasing with some councils to find out about their policies for accepting vouchers but most wanted to see our site 'active' and some councils such as Leeds have told us they have geographical restrictions and we are too far away!
Henrietta we don't have Nature wraps just Motherease Rikki and Airflow and also Little Lamb ones.
IWCAS I take on board your comments about needing more information - I've put a page on facebook too and some of my other mummy friends said pretty much the same thing, prefolds, pockets, wraps they don't have a clue so I think we need a 'real nappy for beginners' page! Will also think about starter packs and we have to add in a thing for discounts on multiple purchases but we need a lesson on how to use the software first!
Right enough waffle from chez Smac in the time it's taken me to type all this out there has probably been another 3 'March' babies born!
TLC I'm expecting you to be next and I would like to go over the weekend too thank you.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/02/2010 18:50

message for twofalls

Many, many congratulations on the arrival of Polly (a divine name btw) and congratulations on your homebirth. I have been keeping an eye out for you and your new arrival (in a non-stalkerish sort of way )

PacificDogwood · 26/02/2010 19:17

Smac, see I can get my head around herbal remedies, but not homoepathic ones, sorry!

All you overdue ladies, hope things will happen as soon as you want them too. Much as I am excited about meeting DS4 I have soooo much to do and am still reasonably mobile that I would be delighted to be 2 weeks overdue at this point (38 weeks today)... Mind you, may well change my mind in a couple of weeks.
Sweeps rock, BTW, well, worked for DS3, not so much for DS1...

For all you nosey interested people and without too much detail (I do not want to out myself too much here), DH and 'met' when I literally threw myself at him in his bed having come home very drunk slightly tired and emotional from a night out with a (female) friend whose flatmate he was . I had only politey said 'hello' to him before friend and I went out... He kind of went 'there, there', tucked me into his bed and slept on the sofa. I felt very and the next morning. Oh, and very sick. Like I said, NOT my proudest hour. Also slept with my contact lenses in - oh it is all rushing back to me, gah!!
Well, that was my irresponsible relative yoof, I am now all dignified and sensible .

Did I mention I am going on a girl's night out tonight to wear my ridiculously impractical shoes ? I am the designated driver, mind you, so won't disgrace the March Ladies, don't worry!

Pingpong · 26/02/2010 19:43

so pacific I'm intrigued in what form would you take arnica then after birth to help with bruising?
Also what can I expect when I have a sweep? I had a VE on Wednesday morning which wasn't too uncomfortable but what will the sweep feel like? I've got a retroverted uterus - does this make a difference?
Enjoy your night out BTW hope you wear your sensible shoes for driving and your impractical ones for looking pretty in!

Caitni · 26/02/2010 19:45

Hey Smac good luck with all the labour/induction prep! If you don't fancy the acupuncture needles (perfectly understandable!) you could try some self-administered acupressure - check out youtube for some ideas.

DrSkid I'm with you on the adjusting due date to 42 weeks - since up to 42 weeks is still considered a normal, healthy pregnancy. Really hope babyskid arrives before then though!

TLC massively exciting for you! Though I can see why you may be a bit deflated but the midwife is totally right to recommend staying home for as long as you can tolerate the pain. Sounds like you're coping brilliantly, and really hope babyTLC arrives soon.

Pacific love how you two met! Your DH sounds like a perfect gentleman and I think it's so romantic that you're now happily married and about to have your 4th child! I love a good romantic story me I do

Pixie can I just say how amazed I am that all these singleton babies are arriving early and you're still cooking your girls beautifully . Honestly, I keep expecting to read your birth announcement but it looks like these clever girls really will wait til after your birthday! Though hope I haven't jinxed things now [eek]

BulletProofMum · 26/02/2010 20:49

I'm with you on the value homepathic remedies Pacific - but the placebo effect can be real. I guess I'm biased working in the pharmaceuticl industry to believe therapeutics should contains more than water!

Posted my birth story on the post natal thread (summary - short and intense!). Would quite like to watch some tv now but DH is watching rugby.

Good luck and wishing you perfectly painless partuitions

Pingpong · 26/02/2010 21:53

I know you sciencey people don't believe in it (and quite a few others) I'm just sharing my experiences and if anything will bring on labour before CS or induction on Tuesday then I'm pretty much game to try it.
Thanks for the link Caitni I did get my Mum to do ankle rubs/pressure points last time and did it the night before waters broke so definitely worth a try. The thing is that you never do know if any of it makes any difference or whether the baby was ready to come anyway.
Have been reading alarming threads on pig semen as ingredient for induction gel - sometimes it's not good to know too much!

BlueyDragon · 26/02/2010 21:58

Summer, twofalls and BPM - Congratulations! Brilliant news! Not sure whether or not to be or at all these queue jumpers though. Shocking behaviour.

Sariska, not so brilliant news, whatever happens I hope the process doesn't drag on too long (unless you want it to, of course!).

TLC, based on my own experience if I'd stayed at home until my waters went I'd have ended up with a home birth. As it was by the time I was in so much pain DH had to call them rather than me I was 7 cm dilated. Delivery suite so delighted with me that they told me I could come again. Me slightly less delighted when they then refused me anything more than gas and air... So IMHO/E I wouldn't wait for your waters to go.

Right, was going to go to bed and watch a DVD whilst DH watched rugby; have gotten thoroughly sidetracked on here. Back to fancy knicker/birth pool fantasies!

Rindercella · 26/02/2010 22:11

Wow! Huge congratulations to Summer, BPM and Twofalls on the birth of your babies Just fantastic news to hear of the safe arrival of Ethan, Delilah and Polly - all fab names. Just shows what great taste us March ladies have!

There have been so many posts since I last posted (was it only yesterday?), I'm afraid I just can't keep up, but all the best to lisbapalea and Mumof7 on your C-Sections and also thinking of TLC and Mawbroon...good luck and I am sure your babies will be arriving shortly. How exciting!

No news to report here really. Managed to persaude DH to take DD to her swimming lesson this afternoon - lots of throwing a toddler about in water, lifting her out on to mats, etc. is really beginning to get less appealing. I had thought I'd done quite well taking her myself up until now. Then I saw a heavily pregnant lady getting out of the pool from the lesson before - and found out she's due on Sunday! So then I felt a total wimp - I still have 3 weeks or so to go! Anyway, DD loved showing off her swimming skills to DH, who also really enjoyed taking her, so all good.

I am definitely nesting at the moment. Cleaned out freezer and a couple of food cupboards today. Need to make sure everything is in order for when DD2 comes along. Going to empty DD's wardrobe tomorrow of all her old baby stuff (play mat, baby bouncer, car seat, etc) and get that all sorted in readiness.

Feeling really happy and excited about meeting my new daughter in the next few weeks

TakeLovingChances · 27/02/2010 03:44

Ladies, at 3am my waters broke!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is after me starting to have contractions at 5am the PREVIOUS morning!

Of course, I can't sleep now, as I'm too excited and the contractions are more sore now that the waters have gone.

Ohhh, I'm so excited!

Thanks to all of you who have shown me support, as I really have needed it as a newbie! Sorry if I'm queue jumping; I'm sure you will forgive Baby C as he/she doesn't know what dates you all are due.

Pixie in my mind there were 2 things I wanted to get done before baby arrived - finish my yoga classes and see a certain friend. Both of those things were completed by 10pm last night and then my waters went this AM. Maybe your daughters will be as well behaved and stay in till after your birthday

Will talk soon, with baby news

scooby26 · 27/02/2010 07:14

Mornin-quick post. Waters broke at 5.15 and been continuous ever since. As have group b strep just getting sorted and then gona ring hospital to go and get iv antibiotics. Just period pains at mo. Good luck tlc! X

Pingpong · 27/02/2010 07:19

Wow TLC and scooby looks like you will be mummies sometime today. GL and can't wait to hear your news.
No further action chez Smac but MW coming for sweep this am.

AfriBaby · 27/02/2010 07:54

Thread moving so so fast - incredible! Congrats to Summer, twofalls, and BPM, thinking about TLC and Scooby - looks like you're next!

I am quite happy to wait for a couple of weeks - still getting head around everything.

A tip from my midwife I hadn't heard/read before: to avoid premature rupturing of membranes (i.e. waters going before baby is actually ready to come) ensure you have lots oand lots of Vit C. Oh and in Germany they rrecommend eating flaxseeds/linseeds regularly as preparation for birth...thought I would just pass this on!

Off for day two of english(!!) birth preparation course...sure that when I get back, there will be more babies!

mawbroon · 27/02/2010 08:31

Looks like you march girls are all going to overtake me, and it's only my due date TODAY!!

I am pissed off now. I had the first pink blood on Wednesday night and still nothing. I was woken every 15 mins from 3.30am this morning by very short and mild contractions but now they have all stopped. Same as the other day, not even as sore as period pain.

Maybe I'm 9cms now and the next thing will be needing to push. Ha fecking ha. Dream on.

We have about 2" of snow here this morning which will make the drive to hospital rather longer than the 15mins that it should take, unless by some miracle the council have gritted the roads.......

Henrietta · 27/02/2010 09:28

TLC by the time you get this you'll prob have a baby so whayhay
mawbroon just encourage you that although contractions didn't come to anything they ARE doing something!

had a shock last night - warning TMI alert - after you all saying about cervix checking I checked mine on Tues found it still fairly high and felt the egg...felt quite a bit of pressure last night so decided to try again - couldn't find egg at first - only to realise i must be pretty much effaced and I was going round the side of it !!!! quickly got hands off there as I didn't want to give myself an accidental sweep! (Hubby sleeping in a cardboard box last night for charity!) did not want to go into labour. It can come now though after DH caught up on a bit of sleep.

wave to everyone else

hecklephone · 27/02/2010 09:41

Go go go tlc and scooby! hope everything goes exactly how you want it to.

DH very keen to take DD to Deep Sea World today, which I suppose could well be our last family outing as a threesome. However, it's about an hour's drive away. Just hope I'm not posting an update later on telling you all I had a water birth...in the shark pool!!

Have a good Saturday, ladies, looking forward to more birth announcements!

PacificDogwood · 27/02/2010 09:58

Morning, all!

First of all good labour/delivery vibes to TLC and scooby - how exciting again!

And at homeopathy comment - I did truly not want to start a controversy over it.
In my eyes herbal medicine (in which I am not trained and probably know as much about as any of you) has its place . Herbal medicines have active ingredients and have well proven effects. Also herbs/animal products is were most of our original medicines come from: Aspirin is from willow bark, Digoxin from foxglove etc etc. As they have effects they also sideeffects (another one of my bugbears: herbal medicine in not necessarily safer than conventional medicine).
Homeopathy dilutes to the nth degree until a 30c dilution does not even contain an atom of the original substance. I just cannot buy into this "imprint" or "ghost" of an atom, sorry!
The family dr who looked after us when I was growing up was a homeopath, so I do am not against it, but maybe skewed by me training I just cannot go with it any longer.

You can get Arnica tablets with lots or active ingredient OR homeopathic pillules - and I know where my preference lies.

I shall now shut up on the subject and hide behind BPM who is now a scary mummy lion and will be fierce !!

We are off to a Build-a-Bear Workshop today, DH is working, me with 3 monsters and bump - wish me luck! If you don't hear back I've gone into labour in the middle of a busy shopping centre !

I will expect to find some news when I am back

Oh Heckle - no, better not give birth in the shark pool!

Pacific - that's quite sweet how you met your DH, he obviously saw something in you despite your drunkenness!

As for me I think I would have still been a virgin if it wasn't for alcohol... I'm quite shy.

TLC, Scooby and anyone else in labour or almost in labour, we're all thinking of you!

I almost thought I was in labour on the loo this morning but it was just a big poo... eek... better increase my prune juice intake.
