WARNING WARNING WARNING

TMI TMI TMI:

non-penetrative sex works ok at the mo for all those scared of poking baby in the eye...don't ask!

Nikki87 · 01/12/2009 16:24

for every1 wondering about the HIP grant, I rang them yesterday and they said due to the postal strike it will take upto 6 weeks to be processed [so a 2day strike has added 2/3weeks onto processing time?!?!!?]

and RE sex, I am missing it so much, I mean, I want it, but exactly like threeplusone the slightest thing is putting me off, if anyone has any miracle cure, it would be much appreciated! lol

hmm... i might try bribing then.... hehe

fiziwizzle · 01/12/2009 17:16

OK re sex. We're still in the first year of our relationship (yep things moved quickly) and so that side of things is still good, EXCEPT that I find it hard to orgasm now. Whatever we do. I've assumed it's hormonal but it can get me down (to tears sometimes) as it's so frustrating. Anyone else? Or any tips...?

woowa · 01/12/2009 17:28

Orgasms and TMI, again...and not sure how to put this...

When they come, they come with sustained and uncomfortable Braxton Hicks, so I'm not sure it's worth it... But, re my TMI message, i do find that with a bit of external rubbing about, ahem, an orgasm is possible. I know it's not quite the same, but if you're missing them, try and persuade DP to carry on after he's finished. Or maybe beforehand. Though when i've had one i dont really feel like any more sex.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Can't believe i just wrote that. Shoot me now. Good thing this is all anonymous...!

MrsJeff · 01/12/2009 17:45

This has cheered me up masses! Don't feel like such a wifely failure now! What I'm finding is that it's taking me no time at all, but DH - who likes to take his time - is getting very short changed. Previously I could just about keep body and mind together to make sure he was "sorted" but I kind of collapse in a heap now...poor sod...Think a sport of experimenting might be in order to take the pressure off both of us!

fiziwizle while that doesn't help re your query, based on the fact that the presence of baby has affected my DH, maybe it's the same for you, even if you're not conscious of it? Have to say it's affecting me now too because I know it's affecting DH. When did sex become so complicated, dammit??!

nikki87 thanks for that re the HIP grant - I was wondering where on earth mine had got to!

threeplusone · 01/12/2009 18:10

LOL at all this talk about sex..
TMI alert I used a TOY whilst DH was away and it was good.. hit the spot with no. stubble smell of alocohol etc.

DH is laughing at me.. he has even resorted to giving me a glass of Rose with NO LEMONADE...it is going down really well a bit to well.. I dont normally drink wine without lemonade even when not preggers!! the naughty man thinking if he gets me tipsy I wont whinge!!!.. After the day I have had with the children.. I need a drink was ready to leave home at one point.. just for some sanity for an hour!!

woowa · 01/12/2009 18:17

ooh - and I rang the HIP people, and they have now allowed me the HIP!! Hooray. Glad the MW's error with the date didn't wreck my chances of some nice free money! Phew...now, what shall I buy? Nice healthy fruit? or a cot mattress? It's a tough decision!

threeplusone · 01/12/2009 18:19

Hooray woowa..

I am still waiting to hear but I thought everyone got the grant!!

woowa · 01/12/2009 20:45

threeplusone, my MW signed the from 27th October 2010, so they rejected it. they didn't sound very amused when I mentioned that it was clearly impossible for her to have done that and it must be a mistake on her part!! Anyway, it's all sorted now. Phew!

stoofadoof · 02/12/2009 02:07

just back from seeing the consultant re vbac or elec sect... i am still trying to make a decision and wanted to talk about what both options would entail, how they would work, what were possible issues for the baby or for me etc etc... she basically said, 'so we're going for a vbac then? great, we'll see you at 40 weeks to see what's going on if you've not already had it' ... i took a long list of questions she barely had the courtesy to answer, and actually didn't really when i started asking about the elec sect option.... grr.

i think i'm coming down on side of vbac - cos of recovery times etc if all goes well, but really only cos things work a bit differently here, and the community mw that sees me here, will also deliver the baby and be with me throughout labour.... so i think there's less chance of a 29 hour marathon followed by emergency sect which is what happened last time. If i talk to her about what i want to avoid, i think maybe it will be ok and if things are going pear shaped, we'll be able to 'bale out' earlier and have an unplanned section...

oh decisions, decisions!?!?! anyone?!?!

and SEX? i have vague recollections of that, and look forward to it, maybe summer 2010

fiziwizzle · 02/12/2009 08:51

Thanks for the sex tips girls! I guess we'll keep trying... until I can't be bothered any more, I suppose!

Glad you got your HIP grant woowa. I'd spent mine before it arrived, on NCT classes. I do hope they're worth it; they are very inconveniently timed, and it was those or hypnobirthing classes. Now I'm planning to get a hypnobirthing CD from ebay (on my long, long list of things to do).

stoofadoof what a shame your consultant had that attitude. I have no idea what you should do, apart from it should be the option you feel most comfortable with. Good luck in making your choice.

Well, I have a Communication Skills training course to attend (dull dull dull) so have a good day everyone!

watercress · 02/12/2009 09:58

Stoofadoof, I am having similar traumas to you. Having had a hideous time last time (see my previous post somewhere on this thread), I was all set for an elective section due to the 3rd degree tear and subsequent problems. But last week I saw the perineal specialist, who did lots of horrible tests before pronouncing me as good as new and recommending a normal delivery.

Now I feel in a massive quandary as the only thing keeping me at the same hospital as last time was the perineal people. The thought of going through another "natural" delivery or even - god forbid - another induction at the same place as last time fills me with abject horror.

I'm hoping that thing will become clearer at my 32 week scan and that either the placenta will still be low enough to warrant a section or the consultant (pah, when do you see the consultant? I only ever see the registrar) will agree to booking me in for an elective section if I go over my due date. If not, I want to ask to be transferred to a different hospital, but I have no idea whether they will do this so late into my pg.

Help!

mawbroon · 02/12/2009 10:25

I haven't applied for my HIP grant yet. The midwife said she will do it at my 28week appointment which is next week. It's already spent I'm afraid, on fixing the big scrape I put up the side of the car the other week.

Sex? What's that? Having gone through 8 weeks of everyone being ill, I have forgotten.....

I am still suffering from heartburn, constipation and thrush. What a lovely trio. I am getting gaviscon and lactulose prescribed 500mls at a time!!

DS has been acting up since we have finally returned to normal after our weeks and weeks of being ill. I am finding my hormones are making me want to shout at him, and it's really hard to stay calm. But I know that I have to. It would only be 10 times worse if I shouted. But, saying that, he is also being very sweet. He wants to kiss my bump a lot and talks to his wee brother, which is very sweet. Hard to believe it's the same child who was throwing massive tantrums about going out to nursery. He has been so easy going and laid back since he was born, I guess I knew it wasn't going to last forever......

FluffyCoo · 02/12/2009 11:02

Morning ladies!

Phew, what a lot of catching up to do after a short time away!

Nice to hear that the HIP grants are starting to filter through - I'm sure my credit card company will be very grateful for mine... .

I really want to change my doctors surgery, but am not sure about doing it at this stage of PG (nearly 30 wks now). The midwife is fine, but the doctors I've seen have all been awful in one way or another and the admin team have failed to update my address after me filling in the forms twice and asking them 4 times! Wouldn't normally have been a problemn, but I nearly missed out on a physio appt because they'd sent the letter to the wrong address and apparently they sent another letter asking me to see my doctor re my urine test results 3 WEEKS ago - looks like I have a nice untreated UTI then... There is a really nice surgery I could register with and the midwife there is fantastic but I don't know what to do... Help!

ktpie · 02/12/2009 11:05

No sex here, got massively put off during my last pregnancy when after sex I had heavy bleeding (with clots, sorry if TMI), so had to rush to hospital, everything was fine but it was terrifying and embarassing and now means I can't relax when it comes to sex when I'm pregnant. Also rarely feel like it and we are both really tired all the time. Poor DH has been very understanding.

I feel rubbish this morning, my back really aches, in a period pain type way.

extremelychocolateymilkroll · 02/12/2009 11:36

Thanks threeplusone. I spoke to the MW re. the GTT and she said it was a 2 hour fast before the blood test. I have to drink 2/3 of the bottle of lucozade an hour before over a 10 min period.

sunnybump · 02/12/2009 12:23

Fluffy why not go speak to the new doctors and see what they say? You have a right to change your doctors, just see if the new ones are receptive and supportive.

I'm very tired and emotional here too. I keep crying at random stuff and getting upset over silly things. We moved house at the weekend and the doc has signed me off for another week of trying to get some rest. Still loads of stuff at the in-laws to be moved but we're here and have all major facilities, and DH and a mate did most of the fetching and carrying.

I'm starting to struggle with the indigestion too, the gaviscon is never far away. And I know it's nowhere near as bad as SPD but the hip and coccyx pain is driving me crazy. But hey, we're finally (after 6 months of buying, paperwork and doing up), in OUR OWN home! Hooray

Oh is it really 2nd December already, now I'm sure there was something I was supposed to do for some celebration on the 25th

woowa · 02/12/2009 12:41

Hooray sunnybump - and you're back on the internet quick too - the best place to be when body is falling apart and emotions all over the place.

Gaviscon: I had my first experience of this last night. I'm honestly not sure which is worse, gaviscon or acid indigestion! It was the most repulsive medicine I have ever taken!!

Why are consultants so brusk (is that a word?)? Mine is pleasant and nice, but doesn't have the same ability to listen as the MWs do. I really don't want a consultant-led birth, but I feel like it's going to be a fight.

Ordered pushchair yesterday, the most stressful purchase out of anything I think - worse than choosing a car. And then barclaycard called up to make sure it wasn't fraudulent - i have put a LOT of baby stuff on it in the last few days and I think they are surprised how much! oops, maybe that's what the HIP will pay for .

Glad we all have terrible sex lives - well, not glad, but reassured, I suppose. I wish I felt like it! And hope desire and passion come back soon.

Those of you in France - aren't they obsessed with getting women back into sex really quickly, with electrotherapy on the perineum to tighten it up for your DHs??!! I waslistening to a radio show on it recently- sound like something to look forward to - electric shocks up the vagina....

comeonbishbosh · 02/12/2009 13:32

Dee2009, too true! My DH is in the same boat.

I think as if the side effects of pregnancy aren't enough, exhaustion etc, we are probably still trying to 'recover' from the whole dynamics of sex when long term TTC. It's a big psychological hit.

We've just had a lovely long weekend away in a cosy cottage which we had in mind as a chance to catch a bit of sex time... and then both went down with tummy bugs! But as you say, we know it's worth it and no point in either of us piling on the pressure.

flyingcloud · 02/12/2009 13:42

Woowa - you have just frightened the life out of me. Good God! I know they do offer some sort of physio/reeducation, but to be honest no one has mentioned it to me.

Sex hasn't been on the cards for a while. I am tired at night and my own perception of my body has totally changed. I feel like it's really mine and the baby's now and DH just has to put up with it. However I have made the odd effort - sorry but it really does feel like an effort - to perform my conjugal duties. Poor DH has been very tolerant, although he mentioned how hard it would be after the birth with family here to get back into the swing of things and I had to gently inform him that it might take a bit longer than the initial two or three weeks before things returned to pre-pregnancy normal!

Sunnybump great to hear you are in your house. I can only imagine how tired you must be. I have been away for work and visiting family for most of the last three weeks, I am off again for work tomorrow. I went to a big party on Saturday night on my own without DH and I still fee like I've been run over by a bus. I feel like I am back in the first trimester again and as DH keeps reminding me, I have over two months to go... I am constantly sleepy, feeling faintly nauseous, grumpy, frequently dizzy, etc. I am not sure how I am going to get through the next ten weeks - and it's only going to get worse. I hope I am just recovering from a busy weekend and that I will feel more normal by the end of the week, although I have a busy weekend of work.

Nikki87 · 02/12/2009 15:28

hey guys, I'd like to ask all of you some advice.... bit embarassing really...
ok so i have the unlucky pregnancy side effect of constipation [sorry if TMI] and i was... straining .. this morning, went to wipe and found what looked like a blood clot.. but more mucusy... could it be my mucus plug, something bad, or nothing to worry about?

god I'm panicing about so much... 1st pregnancy and all....
