Congratulations to all the new arrivals! Amazing and exciting stories!

I'm really ANGRY at the moment though - our phone line has just been fixed after 9 DAYS of being cut off!! angry]

We live in the middle of nowhere with a v dodgy mibile reception and some eejit engineer pulled out a piece of copper wire "by mistake" when he was fixing someone else's line.

If I'd gone into labour and my mobile had packed in I would have to have walked 3 miles to the nearest phone to get help! Another DIY dleivery in the woods methinks!

Anyway I'm still FUMING and I really hope we can get some kind of compensation for this - I'm amazed I didn't go into labour with all this worry - grrrrrrrrr.

And more importantly I've missed all these births in the last week and a half! Busy June mummies!

Hopefully I'll be joining you soon - today dh is off hunting for max strength raspberry leaf tea tablets and I had a mega hot curry last night.

Really want to hold my wee baby in my arms now

tribpot · 06/06/2005 10:45

Jeez, mcmudda - the same thing happened to us a few weeks ago, engineer doing something else thought it'd be useful to knacker our cable at the same time. And BT fixed it within 2 days - I was pissed off it took that long

I hope you'll be writing to BT to complain mightily about it, I'd tell the local paper as well, it's outrageous!

Glad you are back with us now, however did you cope without MN for so long?!

JonahB · 06/06/2005 10:47

McMudda, poor you, what a nightmare. I'd be furious too. Glad its fixed now though.

Trib, I'd like to pretend I'm going to be stoical about the pain, but I suspect that at the first contraction I will be begging and pleading for the needle in my back .

Off to Sainsbury's. Have a good day, girls.....

katzguk · 06/06/2005 11:09

okay one birth story for you all!!

so last time i posted was at 5am on sunday 5th,so the contractions stopped again until about 7.30am where they were intermitant and short. We took the dog for a walk at about 8am with the TENS machine on and the contractions were about 10mins apart and lasting for 20 or so secs.

At 10am we took DD1 over to the neighbours house because they were off out and it was now or not for a few hours!! came home and decided to have a bath, took TENS machine off and got in, shouted to DH to phone midwife (10.45am). Midwife arrived at 11 and we were chatting in the bath, contractions still not very strong but painful. Got out of bath and walked onto landing and had a few more stronger contractions. Sat on the landing chatting to midwife about this and that. At about 11.40 i had three very strong contractions in quick sucession and the midwife said maybe i should just examine you and see how things are going. so moved and hind waters went, managed to make it onto the bed having very strong contractions, midwife managed to examine me and said 'oh hello baby' waters then went in spectacular style all over bed (hence needing new bed!!) she then got the student midwife to phone for home delivery pack and phoned for a second midwife all done with extreme urgency!!

I then turned round and said its coming!! two pushes later Annalise came into the world. The second midwife and delivery pack arrived 10mins after!!

Have got a few stitches but feel great!

Wow! Amazing birth story! You sound as though you're still in shock rather - are you OK?

gingerbear · 06/06/2005 11:22

Am stunned! I bet you were too!

katzguk · 06/06/2005 11:25

Big congrats to Mrs W and katz - very, very impressed with these home births/self deliveries - hope you're all doing fine - you're definitely made of sterner stuff than me.
Gwennybee, thinking of you - so many mixed up emotions around these times - if it's any help now we have ds I feel far more peaceful about my m/c - not that it's lessened what I felt for him just but it in a different place in my heart and head - if that makes any kind of sense.

LipstickMum · 06/06/2005 12:35

Cooperoo · 06/06/2005 13:07

Wow Kat. What a fab story. I bet you are in shock a bit still. Sounds like you did brilliantly. I am v and of course delighted for you at the same time .
I am perched bouncing on my ball as we speak having had my raspberry leaf tea. I have also spent the morning organising things to do so we are out tonight for a steak and have a friend round tomorrow morning and an appt to check out the private clinic tomorrow pm. Wed have m/w appt and computer session and thurs have arranged to go to the cinema. That lot will surely mean the baby will appear tonight .
Right off for now. It is 27 degrees here today so I am going to sit under my fan.

Cooperoo · 06/06/2005 13:10

Sorry McMudda forgot to say how BLOODY annoying for you.
I lost my mobile four weeks ago so we only have DH's crappy one that runs out of batteries at the mo. He has dug out two even older ones to try and charge up and borrowed one from a work mate as I suggested I may end up giving birth in the car en route and now he is worried about getting an ambulance to us on the side of the motorway LOL. It won't get to that stage of course but we now have four mobiles lined up on the kitchen worktop one of which is constantly on charge.

charleypops · 06/06/2005 14:21

CONGRATULATIONS MRSW!! Blimey - you delivered him on your own! Well done! Glad everything went well. And what a suprise it must be to have a little boy after being so convinced it was a girl. Must have been a bit of a shock for dh when he got down with the towels!

Coop - would one of the mws you spoke to be able to come and assist in case you were "too late" setting off for the hosipital? Good luck with the vit K. How come you're checking out the new clinic - is there still hope??

Gweny - cyber hugs x

MrsF - hope baby doesn't arrive while dh is away. Isn't he entitiled to some paternity leave that his bosses can't argue with?

Hi McMudda- long time no hear! What a nightmare for you with no phone lline - why on earth did it take so long for them to fix it. Good grief, anything could've happened. thank the lord it didn't. Hope things happen for you really soon

Katz - what a wicked birth story! I wonder though why they didn't bring a home delivery kit with them in the first place? shame about the bed What have you been sleeping on since then?

Hi Lippy - glad you're back where you should be in your shiny new home!

Tessiebear · 06/06/2005 14:59

Congratulations Mrs W!!!!! RESPECT to you for delivering your OWN BABY!!! WOW!
Have just received a call from mu cousin who had her baby this morning at 8AM and was home by lunch time - am i a pathetic wimp or what - but by lunchtime after i have delivered i plan to be having tea from the hospital trolley and sitting uncomfortably in bed awaiting visitors!!!!

Tessiebear · 06/06/2005 15:00

What an amazing brith story, Mrs W, well done you!
Coop, it sounds like you've got the next few days mapped out pretty well. I definately think one needs that at the moment, something planned for each day.
I went into town today, and came over very clammy and dizzy, same as yesterday, and the baby wasn't moving much, so been upto the birthing centre. All's fine, bp ok, and no protien in the urine, and they monitored the baby for about an hour, and he/she is fine. Lovely to hear the heart beat like that. It became a birthing centre last July, and it was very freeky to go into the lounge that used to be a theatre, where ds was born.
Anyway, was going to go to the doctors but cannot see the point, as they've checked out bp etc. Could see lots of braxtons on the monitor. Maybe just my body gearing up. How knows.

Gweny, sad weekend, but keep possitive x

mcmudda · 06/06/2005 17:00

Dh just phoned to say he's found me a big bottle of Raspberry leaf tea capsules - 3 a day or something! Will be prising them out of his hands when he comes home mwhahahahaha - this baby must be cooked by now - I'm enormous!

Still v of all these gorgeous babies already here. It's my own fault - I stupidly assumed that just cos ds was here at 38 weeks that this one would be too - so i feel overdue already, even though my due date is tomorrow - does that make sense?

megi · 06/06/2005 18:18

I'm with you McMudda! - DD was here at 37 weeks exactly. This one not due for another 6 days - but feel over-due!

Congratulations to all those who have had their beautiful babes! I can't wait!

JonahB · 06/06/2005 18:23

Katz, big congratulations again to you. Sorry to hear about your bed though. Hope there?s a spare one somewhere in the house .

Lipstick, good to hear from you, glad you are back at home with both carpets and pineapples .

Coop, gosh, don?t know how you?re managing with it being so hot there. I realise you don?t have much choice, but it must be tough. I?m normally constantly cold, but at the moment, I am overheating so much more than DH, so, as I?m frantically opening windows, while wearing a thin t-shirt, he?ll be (very gently) requesting that they should be closed. Obviously, I win THAT one??

Lynny, good news about your MW. Does that mean she will be available for the delivery?

Still no news from here. Unfortunately.

truckerkaz · 06/06/2005 18:26

truckerkaz · 06/06/2005 18:44

teabelly · 06/06/2005 19:12

Hi all,

Just popped on quickly to post the birth story (all gory details on announcements board!). I'm afraid I haven't much time to catch up, but quickly...

Katz, Mrs W - I'm in awe! Massive CONGRATULATIONS to both of you ...and there was I thinking I was a brave little soldier for managing on tens & entinox!!!

and following that just a quick message for Coop - just wanted to say that after my epi last time I was really in floods of tears when told I couldn't have one this time - really didn't think I could cope with out it. But events suddenly happened so quickly after a long lead up and it was fine...and no stitches to boot, which was fab! So my rambling is just to say I know you're not getting the birth experience you had hoped for...but if a hugely, massive wimp like me coped you're gonna do just fine sweetie, honest!

With regards to Amber she's a real honey...we're all totally loved up...even dh who now admits that he was really dreading having another and really was happy to stay a one child family!!! This from the man who hasn't put her down sonce we got home!

Hope to catch up again in the next day or so...but good luck to anyone who's about to go into labour...sending lots of quick and painless vibes your way!

teabelly · 06/06/2005 19:14

sonce = since...tip don't type and hold wriggly newborn at same time!

Uki · 07/06/2005 01:33
