Carameli · 09/12/2008 14:57

Hi All,

have not been posting for ages. Mainly due to my alter personality as a part time decorater(our house) and SAHM.
Feeling a bit sad today as was supposed to be going to see dd(5yrs) as an angel in her nativity play
But we have all been struck down by a horrid cold virus. Ds(2 next week) is in bed feeling horrid, as is DD and am slightly on the mend and DH is on the downward spiral so thankfully he can work from home.
Slowly getting an appetite back as was quite worried about the baby not getting enough apart from fruit juice and bananas and oranges.

hope you are all looking forward to CHristmas. Its a busy time for us with all the school things and then DS 2nd birthday at the weekend and our anniversary last weekend. But I love Christmas so much more than I ever did seeing the look on their faces on Christmas morning.

SnowySunshine · 09/12/2008 15:56

Puzzle - were you still pregnant whilst wearing this skin-tight leather get-up? That'd be one hell of a look

Kalikaroo, have you just not been feeling much at all, or has it slowed down? Both are normal - I was panicking because I was used to much more, but apparently that's fine during the second trimester for 4 or 5 days at a time. & some people don't feel anything at all until around 22 weeksish (I can't remember when you started, sorry), so small / infrequent movements at 23 weeks doesn't sound like a worry. Especially as you are feeling some movement. I know how easy it is to get paranoid though

Carameli, nice to have you back. Sorry to hear that you're all ill though. Don't worry about the fruit juice, bananas & oranges! My bump pretty much only gets pasta, chocolate & crisps. I think yours will be positively thriving in comparison

SnowySunshine · 09/12/2008 15:57

I'm waiting impatiently on Nutty's news now. (& spending £70 on 2 items of maternity wear is sadly not that difficult to do. They have a captive audience )

PuzzYuleLogs · 09/12/2008 16:05

No no no, I had all my babies and had purchased a shiny new pair of boobs too!

purlease · 09/12/2008 16:09

okay don't want to hijack this thread but if any of you are any good at arts and crafts can you check my other thread out ideas for christmas decorations

I am taking Friday off to go to DDs school nursery play which is in the morning and was planning on starting to do some Christmas decorating in the afternoon.

SantasNuttySTaff · 09/12/2008 18:43

Sorry moan over now.

PuzzYuleLogs · 09/12/2008 18:56

There you are, i've been checking constantly. Yippee a girl!!!!!!!!!!!!

frostyfrekkles · 09/12/2008 20:18

hey there lasses, thought I'd come and check in and say hey x It's lovely to read you all chattering away, all happy and busy. So good to hear of your 20 week scan news, congratulations on the little girls to be! made me smile and feel so pleased for you all. Wish that they had such a thing as a 20 week scan in scotland. Was looking at private scanning but unfortunately I think tis a little out of my price range.

I'm OK today, after the upset of last week I took myself off to my sisters for the weekend. Felt like I needed to be somewhere I was loved and would be looked after. My mum was also visiting my sister so it was a good opportunity to see them as I'll not see them at christmas. . Spent a lot of time playing with my neices, who are lovely and umcomplicated and think I'm the best thing ever, which is nice.

But twas also a bit of a mental weekend too, as I found out my sister is accientally pregnant too. She's 6 weeks behind me, due in June. She's already got two kids and didn't want anymore so is very unhappy about it. So I'm now all confused. On one hand I think it's lovely that there'll be cousins so close in age to each other, and that me and my sister have the opportunity to bond over a shared experience. On the other hand, I had been relying on her for support quite alot recently, and now I feel guilty about that and unable to lean on her as she's in a dark place herself. So I feel a bit more alone. I also feel abit rubbish as there's a part of me that feels a bit fed up that my baby won't be unique, that I won't get any support from my mum and sister and that in a way my thunder has been stolen. I wanted some suport from my family over the weekend, and ended up feeling like I can't expect it now. feel a bit of a spoilt brat for that but i'm being honest with my feelings here. tis all so very weird.

well well, atleast my thrush has finally gone! yippee, which means I may well get my oats before too long i hope!

much love to you all! hope you're all ok? How is your SPD miss boffin? and how is miss sunshine feeling? xx any sexy stories, sugary foods or rude jokes? x

VirginBoffinMum · 09/12/2008 20:58

Hello everyone, update time ...

I have the feeling my SPD is just a smidgin better, and I think not driving for longer than 10-15 minutes in one go, and wearing this new maternity belt is helping, as well as the crutches. I also went to the chiro this morning and he probed my ladies' bits in a chiro sort of way, which helped too.

Regarding the German kneading, they basically pull your pants down, more or less, and a bloke in a white medical top rubs liniment all over his hands and attacks your buttocks. Mmmm, so sexy (not)!

VirginBoffinMum · 09/12/2008 21:10

Not quite a joke, but an academic colleague was telling me today about when he taught sociology at an adult ed college to people of, how shall we say, widely varying abilities. He had just given a lecture on the feudal system, and set an essay on this topic. One of the essays the students handed in went like this:

"Once upon a time, there was a futile system, and then people got together and invented capitalism".

Says it all, really.

chrismathsmummy25th · 09/12/2008 21:37

Hurrah for the girls! So exciting! I am going to announce my little one's name shortly so you all don;t nick it (only kidding )

Lol at the futile/feudal system.

AAAAAAAAAAArgh anyone else got the dreaded indigestion/heartburn yet! Baublerella I can't see how you can have avoided it (oh dear grammar issues) with THREE of them rummaging around your insides..oh the burning

SantasNuttySTaff · 09/12/2008 21:46

Frekkles - hurrah for the flight of your thrush :-)

Boffin - hurrah for you feeling a bit better glad the new belt is working out for you xx so basically these germans oil you up and give you a bum massage? i think i will pass lol

Caramelli - nice to have you back, sorry you're all ill at the mo

anyone got any ideas for a name that goes well with sienna ( so far have sienna rose) it cant end in ah ee sounds ???

SantasNuttySTaff · 09/12/2008 21:57

i tell you what i have really missed you guys today!! (am i a v sad individual? )

dont get me wrong all in all its been a lovely day, having booboo and dh with me during the afternoon and seeing bumpalump, but i have missed our lil community

SnowySunshine · 09/12/2008 23:35

Yay, a girl! I had a feeling you'd be having another girl, Nutty. Fancy arranging a marriage between our LOs? I already don't trust bump's judgement & we missed you too - it was deadly quiet here today, look!

frekkles, I can see why you'd feel that way, but try to look at it as you both needing support - you can look after each other & compare pregnancy aches & pains & sleepless nights. People have more sympathy if they're suffering in the same way as well - just look at us lot!

Thanks for asking after me. I'm okay. Still feel quite detached; I've stopped feeling nothing at all & started feeling quite irritated by his general existence. I'm not sure if that's progress or not. At least I'm feeling something, I suppose. He's still trying hard, so hopefully this will pass. I'm still not wearing my ring, but I think I'll put it back on tonight because I have to go into uni tomorrow & I don't want anyone to ask any questions. Meh.

Boffin, it's nowhere near as good as the time when my mum was marking practice GCSE science papers - one of the questions was 'What is the name of the metal found in thermometers?', to which one of the 'less able' kids had responded, 'Dupiter'. Bless him, you could see the train of thought but no marks awarded

I'm glad that your SPD is a bit better - hopefully it'll stay that way. & the German massage could get sexy

festivedollyx · 09/12/2008 23:39

Hi, can i join you? I have been poping in and out reading your posts for a while but didnt want to commit till i had my 20week scan and the reality of making it this far again had set in

SnowySunshine · 10/12/2008 00:07

Welcome festivedolly - & congratulations! Another little girl! How exciting! Oooh, today's one of those days when it feels like it's not actually that long until we have our babies. I can't wait!

If you can't keep up with the very chatty thread, don't worry - please keep us updated though! Would you like some Dairy Milk? Anyone?

I'm off to bed now (I'm only up because I accidentally napped for hours earlier & have been reading, but I have uni in the morning, so will really regret this. Argh. I miss being able to cope with only 2 or 3 hours of sleep!) Speak tomorrow everyone xx

PuzzYuleLogs · 10/12/2008 08:34

will let you know how we get on. no childcare this afternoon so we're taking DS with us. god i hope he behaves!!!

hollytree · 10/12/2008 09:21

morning everyone - good luck with the scans today puzzle and purple.

woke up today and was sick - then lots more came out the other end, then was sick again. No idea what that was all about. But didnt feel bad enough afterwards to justify not going to work so sitting here now trying to think of ways to get the day to go fast.

frekkles- i am in Scotland and I got a 20 week scan - think it depends on your area cause they dont in Glasgow. sympathy for the sister thing - it must be frustrating just when you need them the most - but maybe once she comes round to the idea of being pg, its something you can share and support each other with.

hope you all had better starts to the day.

Morning! Good luck with scans today.

hollytree, just keep MNing - that'll speed things along nicely

Sorry to hear you were sick, though. MS type sickness? I think they're having big growth spurts at the moment, so maybe it's related?

Got to go to uni soon. Can't really be faffed, although I know I'll enjoy the seminar today - I get to chat about Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, which I've enjoyed. Interestingly, it's mostly about a woman whose (gay) husband won't have sex with her. Empathy is sometimes so easy to come by

I'll be around later, I'm sure. Hope everyone's okay xx

SantasNuttySTaff · 10/12/2008 10:37

morning

good luck with the scans today puzzle and purple

and welcome festivedollx - congrats on lil girly

snowy - sounds like a fab idea, if shes anything like dd be warned she will be bonkers and chats the hind leg off a donkey, so george will need earplugs lol

my mad cat is stuck up in our christmas tree lol not going to get her down for a lil while as it serves her right for wrecking it in the first place

SantasNuttySTaff · 10/12/2008 10:42

wow 7 girls and 1 boy and a few suprises

snowy - looks like your bundle of gorgeousness is going to be able to have his pick sweety!!!

right going to dig out some more jokes

brettgirl2 · 10/12/2008 10:50

Good luck with the scans today those who are going.

Anyone else having problems with Sciatica? I'm sitting on a hot water bottle working from home today - moving is absolute agony!

Snowy - I have been reading your relationship posts and am getting increasingly worried about you. I'm sorry if I am going to speak out of turn, and perhaps not be reassuring and I won't be offended at all if you ignore/tell me to butt out but there are three things you have said that have really stuck with me.

  1. You don't have any friends in Sheffield - why not, you are at uni there. Is there something a bit possessive going on?
  2. He is punching walls etc - a large amount of domestic violence starts while the woman is pregnant.
  3. When you were worried about your baby moving you seemed to imply that if there had been a problem (which thankfully there isn't) then the relationship issues would matter less.
Sorry, but I think that you are absolutely right to take a long hard look at this relationship and if it is wrong a baby is not a reason to stay in it.
