lol springy - will bear that one in mind for april .

chair is pulled up, slippers are on (although will have to put suit jacket back on in half an hour if client actually shows up), and am ready for the fudge. I'll bring brownies next time.

am impressed springy that you have provisions ready for these occasions. very organised.

all doom and gloom at work again today - talk of more redundancies. hope that being off in april helps my cause a bit cause they wont have to pay me all next year, but its worrying for everybody.

SpringySunshine · 17/11/2008 15:39

'Organised' is one word. Others may say 'greedy'

Sorry to hear that work isn't a barrel of laughs at the moment. At least you have an excuse for your head to be below the parapet a little. Must be especially awful if you like your colleagues, though.

Question to anyone who knows: I keep getting sharp pains about 2-3 inches pretty much directly below my belly button. It feels like the baby's grabbing handfuls of my insides & pulling. I was wondering if it could be yanking the umbilical cord, or if not, if anyone knows what it is? If I sort of push/rub it quite hard, the pain stops - as if I'm pushing the baby away from it or something. My imagination may well be running overtime & it's going to be something really embarrassingly dull like constipation now, isn't it?

BoffinMum · 17/11/2008 16:17

Inspired by the rest of you, I have spent the entire day without a bra on, which is quite an achievement with 36G norks, and I have to say it feels strangely liberating and much more comfortable than actually wearing one. I am trying to think how I could get away with this on a regular basis in polite society. It's probably a bit tribal for England really.

Swaliswan · 17/11/2008 16:28

Just out of interest, is anyone else suffering really badly from dizziness and fainting? It's getting a bit silly now as I can barely get around Tesco's for a week's shop without getting so dizzy to the point that I can't see properly and if I didn't sit down very quickly, I'd be on the floor. When it happens, I seem to get sick and the sickness is really getting to me now as I just want it to end. I can't see an end in sight and don't know how on earth I'm going to get back to work when I'm in a job where I'm (supposed to be) on my feet all day

BabyBolat · 17/11/2008 16:40

Swaliswan are you eating regularly? If I don't eat every 2 or so hours (only small things I might add) I get really dizzy and get black spots in my eyes! Joy!!! If you are worried maybe you should get yourself checked out at the doctors just to be on the safe side!

Springy - Sorry no similar pains but have at various points throughout the pregnancy have had some really painful moments - all of which seem to have been fine and passed fairly quickly!

Conkertree - snap with the nipples - tis exactly the same, one minute I am wanting to scratch them off, the next I can't touch them!

I am not having the sex dreams in fact I seem to have gone off it a lot - poor DH!) feel like I really should make the effort but just don't feel very sexy with my growing belly and swollen boobs and ankles!

B52 - that is AMAZING news - yay for you and glad all is well and you can start enjoying the worry of all the other hundreds of things you think about!

Baby was very quiet this morning (which obviously meant I completely panicked and phoned DH thinking something was wrong!) Although pleased to report kick boxing seems to have resumed to the point where I wish it would calm down a bit as it is making me feel a little sick! There is no pleasing me!!!

Just 3 hours until PJ and bra-less time!

mathsmummy27 · 17/11/2008 16:40

Swaliswan that sounds reasonably unusual - only thing I have had which is similar is anaemia. Have you talked to GP?

BoffinMum don't tempt me..but then they'd be on the floor by the time I've finished bfing this little one. It's bad enough that the maternity bras i'm currently wearing seem specifically designed to show off my nipples in cold weather..not too good when you're working with teenagers...

Springy I'd be tempted to say gut-related..but I'm no expert. could be just normal baby wriggling stuff, as you say.

Well, I was very comfy until about 5 mins ago, when DH came in and started lcturing me about clogging up the dishwasher sigh....

tristaleejac · 17/11/2008 19:49

Hi guys, you've all made me want fudge and horlicks now and I've only just returned from shops
springy - I think it could be stretching, there are certain ways I move and I get sharp pains just to the right or left of my belly button. it's one idea anyway
guys I'm with you on the itchy nips!
Bought a non under-wired bra when I was at tesco's. Got a quid off it too as they have 20% off clothing just now. Noticed they have nursing bras there too. Plain but only a fiver.
conkertree - my boobs are not getting any bigger either I've gone up to a miserable B cup and then stayed here. With DS I went up to E then after I BF him I went down to A, which I hadn't been since teenage years!
Isn't it crazy how much they change?
barbarella - hope everything went well today x

bronze · 17/11/2008 20:02

All you ladies who were talking about looking for nice bras. Have you tried these guys. A friend recommended them though I havent got any cos I cant afford them (cheap shoddy m&s for me)

PuzzleRocks · 17/11/2008 20:46

B52'S - fantastic result. I'm so pleased for you.

Mathsmummy - any of that fuudge left? I've got a real hankering for some now.

mathsmummy27 · 17/11/2008 20:55

Help yourself Puzzle. Although its texture is a little crumbly for my taste- tastes amazing though.
And it goes well with a cheeky little lager

BoffinMum · 17/11/2008 20:55

After today's experiment in 1970s style women's liberation, I would not recommend going for a whole day without a bra whilst wearing a scratchy cotton broderie anglais top. I now seem to have a form of fashionista's nipple, and they feel quite sore.

I feel for medical reasons I should spend my birthday money on a hotmilk bra immediately.

BoffinMum · 17/11/2008 21:35

I'd like to proudly announce that I have just ordered a reduced price hotmilk bra from bras4mums, where they appear to have a sale on. They also have silicon cushions for your shoulders and extenders for the backs of bras to make things more comfortable. I have ordered some of these too, as swinging wild and free like this is making me very nervous now. I would recommend a visit to the site if you are really uncomfortable on the norkage front.

SpringySunshine · 17/11/2008 21:41

BoffinMum Frankly, I think you should be able to get them on prescription. It's a matter of medical necessity.

tristalee I don't think it's stretching. I know what you mean by stretching - I get awful stabbing pains in my sides when I move sometimes, but this is when I'm not even slightly moving. It's most odd.

mathsmummy I just wish I had a dishwasher

We had a bit of drama earlier - we were sitting eating our dinner when I heard an odd noise. I turned around, looked at the floor & said very calmly, 'the ceiling's leaking'. Nothing. '...The ceiling's leaking, look' ... 'WHAT?!' & DP totally freaked out!

I was the one who had to put a saucepan underneath it, then put some kitchen roll in the bottom to reduce the splashing. & noticed that it was spreading across the joints in the plasterboard in here, turned off the lights on that side of the room & told him to go upstairs to speak to our neighbour (the only one we know, coincidentally) who told us that he'd just had a shower & was as surprised as we were.

We've had a plumber out who looked at our ceiling, exclaimed 'BLARDY HELL' & said little else, which was reassuring . I think they've completely shut the water off upstairs for now & our ceiling's drying out. But I am quite proud of my practical usefulness & am now sitting smugly with some Dairy Milk variety pieces discussing baby names.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 17/11/2008 22:02

springy - I get those stabbing pains too. the ones when you get up and suddenly can't move?? i meant to ask the midwife about that but forgot.

I was ill again today. i'm really sick of being sick. i had a glorious 2 weeks of not throwing up (but was unbelievably tired) now i'm back to head in the toilet. and being unbelievably tired. fuckity fuck.

SpringySunshine · 17/11/2008 22:21

Yes, those are the ones I get in my sides! Or if I stretch whilst yawning or something. Owwy.

I dunno if you saw, but I was sick earlier too. I think we're pregnancy twins You have my sympathy. It's so miserable, isn't it?

BoffinMum · 18/11/2008 10:44

Too right Springy. Will you suggest it or shall I?

SpringySunshine · 18/11/2008 11:40

I think we should all send compelling letters to our MPs, demanding sexy, comfortable underwear for all pregnant women. & if that fails, we'll chain ourselves to railings. Our plight cannot be underestimated. We'll have a chant & everything:

Our boobs are huge & achy,
Our backs can't take the strain,
The bras we buy from M&S are often rather plain.
Mothercare's give no support;
HotMilk are clearly best
Rally 'round & sing our song!
Help us save our chests!

tristaleejac · 18/11/2008 11:44

springy that's brilliant - I'm next to you at the railing!!

OddEyes · 18/11/2008 12:03

Am here again, in bed feeling ill antibiotics 2 weeks ago didn't kill the infection and now after a few days running myself into the ground being a mum and teacher have spent the night puking and wetting myself again! Hurrah! Now have more antibiotics for chest and cystitis and MIL here looking after ds.

Freshhell - so sorry about the foot, know what you mean about time of and being a parent. have had so many days off in past month for ds and myself. Hope good news form docs.
B52 - great news about amnio, what reassurance.
looking forward to some of that tomorrow as have my 20 week scan in morning - so need to be reassured right now.
Agree with everyone about bras. Just got lots of extras added onto my prescription cause they are free like gaviscon and paracetamol, next time will try asking for a bra but it would be the equivelent of NHS glasses - no sure I want one of those.
right must sleep.
ohhh pants! literally! bye!

OddEyes · 18/11/2008 12:05

like it springy - off to make a placard

BarbarellaNz · 18/11/2008 12:09

Hi Everyone!

Just to say thanks again for all your support yesterday when I was quaking in my (fake but comfortable) Ugg boots!
Had the scan yesterday afternoon and it was like a sackful of puppies in there! They were kicking each other (as you suggested they might be, SpringySunshine) and it looked like a writhing mass of arms, legs and heads. I can't BELIEVE I still can't feel them after seeing that carry on on the screen! They are all the right size for their age, and all the same size, which is really good. There is still no sign of TTTS and the doctor was happy with them all

I am so relieved - another scan in two weeks but hopefully I won't be so nervous next time as should feel their WWF wrestling moves by then!!

I'm keen to join the campaign against uncomfortable bras - this new one is SO ITCHY! It really doesn't feel that much more comfortable than the old ones.. Being a New Zealander, I am glad we have contributed something worthwhile to the world in the form of HotMilk bras... I think I should buy some if only to support our economy....

I have my midwife appointment this afternoon, then I'm going to buy some hot chocolate and marshmallows too... that sounded so yummy....

Love Barbarella XX

SpringySunshine · 18/11/2008 12:12

So pleased you like it

OddEyes I had that, with the antibiotics not working & needing more. I just finished another course though, & feel much better - I hope the same goes for you. Must be extra difficult already being a mum as well. That'll get you some rest

BarbarellaNz · 18/11/2008 12:13

P.S.

OddEyes, just saw your post - you poor thing! Stay snuggled up in bed and let people do as much for you as possible..

b52s - I'm so pleased about your great result! You must be feeling 100% better...

SpringySunshine · 18/11/2008 12:16

Barbarella I'm so glad that everything is going so well - you were obviously very worried before, but it's lovely that you've seen them all & they're all thriving in there. That's lovely & with 3 of them in there, you'll probably wish they'd spend more time asleep & less time kicking you once you start feeling them
