Well, I hope a lot more of us can manage to have our babies in THIS thread, even if we will probably talk our way through it well before the end of the month!

Congratulations Poledra, Pigley and Heffa!

Radiohelen, hope your midwife visit went well. I also have tingly fingers from being so swollen, I thought it would go as soon as I gave birth but midwife says it could last for a couple of weeks

At least my ankles seem to be slowly decreasing in size - I lost 2.5 lbs between yesterday morning and today, I think it must be fluid because I am still eating like a pig!

sweetkitty · 26/07/2008 20:32

congratulations pigley beautiful names (as a Mum of an Abigail ) sorry you had a hard time of it but vet you she is worth it?

I think it's about time the list had an update too

LikerabbitsBX · 26/07/2008 21:29

Hi Guys,

Just to let you know that I gave birth to my daughter Isabelle Rose on her due date 25/07 (its says 28th on here but it was the 25th .

She came very quick, contractions started at 7am, by 4.30pm I was 5cm's, so went in to hospital. Midwife said prob be 1cm an hour from here said ok, so thought I would have a bath. Jumped in the bath, within half an hour contractions were 2 mins apart. Waters broke at 5.30, pushed for 25 mins and she was out!!! Very natural in water with gas and air. Had the most wonderful midwives and my 2 birthing partners (daddy and my sister).

Born at 5.55pm on Friday 25th July at St Peters hospital, Chertsey weighing in at 6lbs!

Left hospital at 2am with healthy baby.

Mum and baby still doing fab!!! couldn't have wished for a more wonderful birth! Truly amazing!

LikerabbitsBX congratulations

minipinkscottish · 27/07/2008 10:33

Congratualtions pigley - love the name xx
Congratulations likerabbitsbx - lovely birth story xx

AggiePanther · 27/07/2008 10:51

hi all,
just had time to do a quick catch up ...congrats pigley, poledra, likerabbits
thinking of you disney ..do keep talking - to us and the professionals ...it's much better out than going round in your head ((hugs))
am pretty knackered here, stanley likes to feed little and often and is quite, windy, sicky and hiccupy
he's also having green poos - apparently its cos of too much foremilk and not enough hindmilk ...but he falls asleep after about 5 mins feeding - so I wind him and change him to wake him up and try to get him to latch on again to get some hindmilk but he cries and won't latch. It's not every time though - sometimes we manage a bit longer, and he's putting on weight so it can't be too bad. Any handy hints and tips appreciated

isaidno · 27/07/2008 13:39

Congrats pigley and likerabbits!!

Aggie - Poppy is feeding little and often at the mo - I think it is because it is so hot that she is thirsty more than hungry and only really wants the foremilk. Like you say, if Stan is putting on weight it can't be too much too worry about.

purplejennyrose · 27/07/2008 14:02

Aggie - we've had green poo and little and often feeding too - b/feeding counsellor said no-one really knows what causes green poo, and not to stress especially if lots of pee and putting on weight. She suggested the hot weather too.
If he's doing lots of 'proper' strong, slow sucking and swallowing, then I would trust him, just keep offering boob (same one until you feel it's empty or he refuses - that's what counsellor said to me - then other boob until refused) and try not to worry!
I got a bit obsessive with Florence trying to make sure she kept feeding for longer and I think she ended up over-feeding which made her even more sicky and windy

sweetkitty · 27/07/2008 14:45

Bethany is the same feeding little and often, I have been feeding her from one side then winding her, then changing her nappy to wake her then popping her back on the other side. DD1 was like this a speed feeder and she did fine, DD2 would have stayed latched 24/7. Bethany is doing loads of yellow poos and pees so seems happy but you do worry don't you?

Wonder how catec and EEC are doing, both should have had babies by now?

likerabbitsBX - congratulations another girls lovely names too

Can hear the little darling stirring again better go, the other two are playing with water outside too

minipinkscottish · 27/07/2008 17:07

Abbie has green poos too but is feeding well and putting on weight - sleeping well and happy so I'm not stressing about it xx

min912 · 27/07/2008 18:48

Congrats Pigley and Likerabbits!! Please, me next!!

Braved the heat today, went to the loo when we got back and thought for a whole minute that maybe, just maybe the hindwaters had gone as my knickers were really quite damp. Then I realised ... I think in fact it's just sweat . It is 30 degrees here today!!!

Second S&S tomorrow... with not as nice midwife so let's hope that does the trick (either the fear of her doing it, or that she's a bit more brutal).

pigleychez · 27/07/2008 20:47

Hi all,

Have 5 mintes to post now as DH is giving Abigail a feed.

well heres my birth story:

Went to the hospital as planned on Tuesday evening at 8.30. Settled into the ward and around 9.50 was given the prostin gel to start things off. Monitor machine detected big contracts almost isntantly even though i only felt small tightenings. DH was sent home about 11 and we were told nothing would happen till morning and sleep.
Midnight exactly i felt a big pop an my waters had broke. Contracts happened almost immediately. Rang DH to come to the hospital around 4.30 ish am.

Basically contractions got stronger but dilation was incredibly slow!
Was moved to a labour room and had a soak in the bath which was heaven.
As the contractions werent doing there job and things were taking a long time they decided that id need a drip to bring on and increase the contractions.

This def bought on the contractions big time!! Much more painful.
Time to start on the gas and air! Only thing that did was make me feel dizzy and wasnt helping so then time for the Pethandine.
Contractions continued getting stronger and stronger and dilation was slow.
Eventually it was time for an epidural as the pain was too much. Had been in labour for about 20 hours at this point!
Many top ups later i was fully dilated and started pushing but nothing was happening.
Registrar and doctors came in an examined me and said it was looking like a c- section.

All a manic rush at this point and i was preped for theatre.
Thankfully they managed to get Abigail out using Von Touse and forceps. She came out though with her hand up next to her face so kinda made a mess of my undercarriage! I was cut but still ended up with a 3rd degree tear. I went into Shock after the birth. I couldnt stop shaking and being sick.
Labour lasted a total of 27 hours and 7 minutes.

bit tramuatic but she was worth it

Abigail developed Jaundice and spent time under the photo therapy lamp. Was having trouble latching her on to feed anyway but pediatrician said we needed to monitor her feeds so have had to express her feeds then top up with formula.
Seems to be going ok.. bought the Medula pump as i think i remember that one being recommeneded on here.
Still trying to get her latch on properly but she seems to not open her mouh wide enough and i have pretty flat nipples.... any ideas?
Plus seems to instantly fall asleep anytime she goes near my boob even after rooting.

Had a great nights sleep last night..... DH did all the night feeds! I only came out of hospital yesterday and hadnt slept since monday night so he let me rest.... 12pm till 7.30! bliss.... Expressing does have its advantages wink

Hope everyone is well!!

Hi All,

PIGLEY - poor you - it is really unbeleivably tiring when the contractions are like that and you get put on the drip. Hope your undercarriage is feeling better soon - Calvin came out with his hand at his face too - he still likes his hands by his face and I have to restrain them to get him on the booby! I have flat nips too - although not as bad since feeding DD. This time around I have been using nipple shields (from Boots) and they are doing the job really well. I use NUK teats and MAM bottles for EBM and formula top ups and he has no probs latching on ( they are the best for flat nipples). I usually give him a wee bit from the bottle first as he gets really impatient and frustrated - but then he latches on well. Falling asleep on the booby is very common I think - they recommend keeping them cool and tickling their feet to rouse them - ahem - doesn't always work though

LIKERABBITS - congrats well done

Popping vibes to all who need them xxxx

thisisyesterday · 27/07/2008 22:51

sorry to butt into your thread everyone!

just wanted to say PIgley, you're in crawley aren't you?
there is a breastfeeding cafe in the church hall opposite the ymca furniture shop (do you know where I mean?) by church walk.
it's every thursday 1-3pm

Peanut73 · 27/07/2008 22:57

Pigley - wow. Blown away by your labour story but so chuffed you are okay now and abigail is doing so well.
x

Squarah · 28/07/2008 05:39

Think it might have started here. I'm 40+4 today. Getting strange rummagey pains which felt like they were in my cervix last night from 8ish which got worse and more frequent but okay for sleeping through. Hard enough when it's as roasting as now - dripping with sweat!

I woke 45mins ago and am having bad period-type pains and just trying to time them using that contraction-master thingy but finding it hard to know when they end...

Exciting but hope it cools down

The next question is when to wake DH?

(also posted on overdue thread)

gillythekid · 28/07/2008 06:42

Congratulations to Pigley, Ponto and Hatrick!
Just expressing some mlk so thought I'd do a quick birth story now that the migraine has lifted, finally!!! (the record is 8 days so I guess I got off lightly!)
Went into labour 6.30am Sunday 20th. 45 seconds long every 8 mins At 9.30am 1 minute long every 5 mins so called family! Hypnobirth breathing working briliantly. By 2pm the midwife was here as I was 3 mins apart lasting for 90 seconds. Baby heartbeat was moving down my belly steadily and she reckoned he'd be out by 8 at the latest! 2nd shift midwives came at 5 and by 6.30 I was getting a little tired so used the gas and air. By 8 the last set of midwives were here and totally incompetent! They were not communicating with us at all and were very rough with me. By 11pm I was losing focus and faith in the midwives, they rummaged round trying to break my waters but couldn't and didn't bother telling us that baby had disengaged and turned spine back. They said I wasn't dilating beyond 7cm so I opted to go to the mother's suite to use the pool as I was really uncomfortabe. They called 999 for an ambulance that took almost 2 hours to get here from 4 streets away, they only called back once to see what the holdup was and that got me a bit agitated as I was sooooo tired.
Finally got round the corner to the hospital at 1am and got in the pool. Contractions slowed and I was off my head on gas and air! Urine full of keytones by 4am so was at the point of exhaustion. Taken out of pool and put on glucose drip, waters broken, gas and air confiscated! Another two hours to get him out, felt like I had nothing left but the midwives and DH were amazing at helping me to focus and I stood up, squatting with each contraction and he finally popped his cord wrapped head out at 06.37 on Monday! They had to put him on my back as I'd literally collapsed forward, it was very surreal and unforgettable.
We are in love with him and will post some photos later today.

gillythekid · 28/07/2008 06:48

Hope this is it Squarah, stay calm and breathe nice and deeply and relaxed! Good luck.

bebejones · 28/07/2008 08:11

Congratulations Pigley & Heffa!! Cant wait to see piccies!

My mum arrived yesterday....so bring on the baby! Don't think she is listening though!

Think I was insane, cooked a full roast dinner yesterday...and it was 30degrees outside! What was I thinking?! Had a horrifically uncomfortable nights sleep...it is far too hot to be this pregnant!

CilC · 28/07/2008 08:23

Congratulations Pigley . Breastfeed issue - get some help from NCT or similar breast feeding specialist - I can not recall their name?? Someone must know! The NCT really helped my neighbour who was unable to feed due to tongue tied baby and has now started afte$r 6 weeks with help. They offer many tips and ideas, like how to position etc.

Gilly wow what an experience - glad to hear he has arrived!

Bebe I recommend a blow up paddling pool - just go and sit in it! I did that when DD was born in August almost 4 years ago and it was very hot.

Peanut - if you make it to Hampton COurt again let me know, I live just around the corner! Goes for anyone else!

Little Rafferty is doing very well. We have been going out a bit showing him off. It is just so good to be able to go on walks with him. My daughter is really enjoying him also!

Good luck to all of you still waiting and congratulations also to Ponto, Hatrick and Heffa and anyone else I have missed.

Take care Disney - you have been through a lot.
