G43 - congratulations on the boy!!!! It must have been a shock!

Josey - I have a faint line that has been visible for a couple of months and my belly button is already sticking out you can now see it through some of the shirts I wear!

I have just found out that I have an interview for a new job next week I am hoping that if I stick my bump out enough they will give me an easy time. Fortunately the recruiting manager does know that I am pregnant so at least they won't get a shock!

bitofadramaqueen · 19/03/2008 17:41

Congrats G43!

Also makecakes congrats on you-know-what .

BB - also hope it goes ok with your dad, didn't mean to be quite so flippant earlier .

No brown lines on my tummy but belly button a bit wider. I check it a dozen times a day to make sure it hasn't popped. If only I could remember to do my pelvic floor exercises! I'm lucky if I remember to do them once a week .

PregnantPenguin · 19/03/2008 17:42

Hello everyone

Rolf - the easter bonnet parade sounds like a fluffy massacre...!

Josie - 'welcoming us to a new day and another day closer to seeing our little ones' is so a lovely way to describe Deb's early msgs. But no pressure Debs.

Thank you for reminding me to do pelvic floor exercises everyone. I am shockingly bad at remembering...looking at the site that sells toners I thought we weren't meant to use these in pregnancy? Which is a shame because I want to improve my 'vaginal embrace'....he he!

Basil Brush - I too am feeling huge. Bored of being uncomfortable and don't want to leave the house. No coat is big enough (roll on warm weather) and as soon as I walk more than 5 steps my trousers fall down. Seriously considering buying some braces, any idea where I can get some nowdays? At the same time, 11 weeks does not seem like very long until I meet the little one....bloomin mixed up pregnancy head..

Josie - I have a very faint brown line along with a belly button which is becoming more of an outie daily!

Realised it still said girl too!!!! At my 20 week scan the sonographer was sure it was a girl and said she could see the shawdow of a labia. At my last scan 3 weeks ago the sonographer was doubtful it was a girl and there did appear to be something between the legs but because the baby put it's hands between t's legs couldn't confirm and could have been as mellymell said swollen girl bits. Today at the scan they would have had to have been very swollen to look the size they were today, it was comical seeing the large testicles!
Can't beleive the baby is nearly four pounds already but I was expecting to have a tubby one.

Josey I don't have a dark line but to be honest with the hundreds of stretch marks I have my previous pregnancies I don't think I would even notice!

thegreenfairy · 19/03/2008 19:14

Hi all
Just updating myself on the list - changing from China to greenfairy and my EDD changed yonks ago and forgot to amend it.

Haha re the steak and OJ prescription - my doc prescribed steak, spinach, and red wine for dinner! Got my iron tablets too but it takes 4 to 6 weeks to work so will hopefully show up in my 36 wk bloods.

Not got the tum line, which I weirdly wanted, but my belly button is so stretched it has all but disappeared! Also think I see the start of white stretch marks but it's hard to tell.

DH currently cooking the steaks. Mmmmmmm

so happy for you G43, wonderful news.

i'm feeling quite bummed today after my elation yesterday as my groin is so sore i can hardly move. i'm hoping it's from whatever the osteopath did yesterday and it has to get worse before it gets better. to top it off dh decided to go out for drinks tonight so i'm putting ds to bed alone when i'm not supposed to be lifting him (yeah right!).

had to just adjust my due date and add the gender too!

oops crossed threads!

josey · 19/03/2008 20:53

Struggling with zipping the jacket as well which is pretty crap with the snow Didnt manage steak but did have fish spinich and oj for dinner need plenty of chocolate now lol
Greenfairy told to drink red wine by your doc get drinking girl!!!

Might get Dh to buy me some stout at the weekend lol!

I dont have stretch marks on my belly for somereason, only got them with ds and they were on bum legs and hips so fingers crossed i will escape them again.

I took a flush of panic after seeing g43 post earlier and have done nursery pink and yellow with butterflies(gone with the mothercare bedding etc) but her lady bits were very unmistakeable so sure they were right tough if they werent!

Dylansmum I had a massage on monday I have one every few weeks and im always sorer the next day then feel better hope you feel better tomorrow.

school hols tomorrow, i cant wait for missing the school run and all the different clubs and homework being off just dreading my ds and dd at war, they love each other so much and want to play the whole time but wynd each other up constantly that its just murder!oh well.
Mum is taking the kids to do lots of easter thing sat and sunday so is keeping them over night dh going to be home so going to go out and spoil ourselves cant wait long lie together as well bliss.

debinaustria · 19/03/2008 21:41

G43 - what a shock for you, have you recovered yet?

Makes me feel all warm inside that you miss my early morning messages - must be the hormones.

Been looking at pushchairs with Mum today and even though I had decided on one we saw a Quinny Freestyle which we really liked - it's the older version of the Quinny Speedi and much better imo, we liked the separate carry cot which made it look so much more cosy for baby. So, now I just have to order it - yippee, then Mum will pay.Boys had a go at pushing it round, dh had a glance at it, and stepDad tried the handle for height - he likes pushing the pram!!

bitofadramaqueen · 19/03/2008 22:11

Hi everyone, just had the cotbed delivered (yes at 9.30pm!!). But it was worth it, it looks fab! Now need to nag DH to get the mattress ordered and get friend in to help with the border then we can get cracking 'dressing the nursery'. Fingers crossed on the curtains front - saw some v cheap on the babiesrus website so have ordered them. Not the best picture so here's hoping that the shade of lemon is right! If not, I still haven't been to the curtain shop that deb (I think?) suggested so still confident that I'll find something...

josey your nursery so lovely I'm sure even a boy would love it .

Well done on finding your pram deb - it looks good.

PP - I'm sure the small print of all these pelvic floor toning gadgets says not for use in pregnancy too... At least we know there's some help out there for our pelvic floors after the baby arrives! Just had a thought, I'm getting a bit fed up with the constant 'how are you keeping?' question so next time someone asks I might start telling them about my pelvic floor - bet they dont ask again .

Well off to marvel at the cotbed again (while admiring my new changing bag and not thinking about birth plans and pelvic floors).

whinegums · 20/03/2008 09:26

Morning all, Debs, hope you are having a lovely time with your mum and making the most of her help. Dramaqueen and Josey - so impressed with your preparations. I haven't even cleared any space for the new life form yet, let alone put very much in it! Dylansmum -owww, hope you're feeling better today.

I'm heading off for the weekend today, so have a fab Easter and enjoy those choccy eggs everyone.

And I've added myself to the list too.

Morning all-

am I really the first?? Just weighed myself and might have to put a ban on it in future...I've put on 3lbs in the last week. Eeek.

Really beginning to feel like a heffalump now...stretch marks on the bump (despite using all the lotions and potions) and the faintest hint of a possibility of a linea negra.

Off the physio for more bad news no doubt. And to collect pushchair and bits from storage, so I can clean them.

Have a good morning all. Will check in later!

OP posts:
debinaustria · 20/03/2008 09:58

Makecakes - hope it goes OK at the physio - and get rid of the scales until at least October!!

Thanks Whinegums - having a lovely time with my Mum and she's going to do my ironing tonight

Just off to watch the boys skiing and have lunch

Hope everyone else is OK

nettiehay · 20/03/2008 10:02

Morning all,
Am feeling particularly crap today - almost didn't come into work, but I have to take minutes for a meeting (which I hate), but I am doing it as a favour for a friend who is on leave, so thought I should. I think I'll be taking it very easy this afternoon.
No stretch marks yet and no line going down my belly, but I do appear to have a line going across my belly - above the belly button - almost like a tan line - although I've not seen sun for months! Weird.
Got myself into a bit of a panic yesterday when it appeared that we can't fit a child seat in our car, apart from in the front seat (long story). I spoke to a lovely man at Britax, who suggested we visit Mothercare World in Bristol (visiting MIL this weekend) and they will assess our car for the car seat we want. That calmed me down no end and now I feel fine about it... I tried to tell DP that it's ridiculous to suggest that we will have me as a passenger in the back seat while baby rides up front for the next 12 months!

Rolf · 20/03/2008 10:17

Hope you feel better Nettiehay.

I've stopped vomiting, thank goodness, and am just very breathless and wobbly today. I'm seeing the midwife this afternoon so hope things are ok. I'm feeling lots of movement and keeping hydrated so I'm sure all is fine.

Hands over ears saying lalalala over all the nursery preparations . A friend gave me some newborn nappies, vests and breastpads the other day and that's the extent of my preparations so far.

PiggyPenguin · 20/03/2008 10:31

Blimey g43, what a fantastic surprise! I think it is much more likely for them to get girls wrong so I am confident we are having a boy, especially as we all saw his family jewels very clearly. Either way, we have already bought the (blue) paint and curtains to re-decorate the nursery this weekend, so I'm not going to worry about it.

Does anyone have anything exciting planned for Easter? We are just planning to paint and maybe throw the odd snowball if that promised snow does arrive. I mentioned sideways slings a while back in the hopes someone could recommend one, does anyone have any views? Much appreciated if you have.

dylansmumplusone · 20/03/2008 10:42

hope everyone with aches and pains and ailments are feeling better. i've got to take ds out for a haircut today as he's constantly rubbing his eyes because his hair is in them so bad. so more walking but i am feeling a bit better. i feel guilty that i can't take him to softplay at the moment but will try to take him to toddler gymnastics tomorrow as the bus goes right to the door and i don't have to climb up 3 levels of obstacles!

how am i going to leave him cooped up in the house for 3 months if i don't get any better??

deb sounds like you're having a lovely time with your mum. makes me think solution might be to get mine to come over earlier! mind you after a month i'll be pretty sick of her as it is i think!

very much looking forward to having dh home for 4 days. in-laws are in tenerife so we don't have any commitments which is so nice.

Glad you are feeling better Rolf and I hope you feel better soon Nettiehay.

I took back some pink today and exchanged it for neutral one because I didn't like any of the boys stuff but also because I won't beleive it's a boy until I hold the baby. One of the school mums is giving me a bag of boys clothes today which her 4 month old has grown out of so maybe when I see them it will make it more real!

sybilvimes - I used a hotsling last time www.hotslings.com/ which was fantastic. DS loved it and slept very happily there through many a meal out (if only we could do that now! eating out is an exercise in containment!).

everyone with heads in the sand - I did that last time too and it was totally fine! As long as the bedding is washed for the moses basket/cot and you've a couple sleepers ready to go, everything else can wait (or just not happen - DS still hasn't had his room decorated from it's neutral colours - he doesn't care!).

nettiehay - what type of car do you have? Were you using the Britax website to see if any fit? There must be some kind that would work...

dylansmum - hope you're okay! That's got to be tough with your son. I'm finding it tough enough to run after mine and I'm not suffering from anything other than being the size of a house, so I really feel for you!

Hello - linctus seems to be working, coughing less so leaking less, took DD swimming this morning while DH cleaned rooms for me, she was much admired by all the oldies and I really struggled to get her out after over an hour so she should sleep well. everyone is very organised with nurseries, baby will be with us for a while and then next year we will do up a spare room for DD so she can move into that and baby can go into where she is so still have a while to think about it, although my mother has said we can have a victorian white iron bed which needs cleaning up but is lovely. We are fully booked this weekend, yay, but all in for 3 nights so apart from breakfasts the weekedn is ours so looking forward to it.

aberdeenhiker - We have a Peugeot 306 Estate. There is one seat that fits our car on the britax website, but it doesn't fit the pushchair I want. Also, from what we were told, we couldn't have any seat because of the way our seatbelts are installed anyway. But I've calmed down since speaking to the nice britax man and will wait to see what they say on the weekend at Mothercare World.

Only 4 hours work to go - am counting down today. I keep imagining my bed pillows!

Mothercare are very helpful, when I bought the stage 2 seat, they checked whether it fitted and also let me phone my mum to ask what model car she had and checked for her as well

Hi everyone..

Glad you're feeling better Rolf and hope you feel better soon Nettiehay.

G43 - I'm sure it'll seem real soon enough, it must be a lot to get your head around!

Been keeping an eye out for stretchmarks (have faint silvery ones from puberty so fully expecting to get them) but nothing so far. My mum did say that she didn't get any. I started off by using lots of lotions and potions but after reading yet another article that stretchmarks are down to plain old genes I stopped bothering with fancy stretchmark potions and have just been sticking with regular body moisturiser. Haven't had any signs of the line on my tummy but I am very pale and I understand it's not always obvious in pale skin.

This is probably a silly worry, but I dont think that I've grown at all in the last two weeks. Lots of baby movement (and I can feel kicks much higher up now) but the bump doesn't seem to have grown. Anything to worry about do you think?

DLM - could you maybe arrange some 'playdates' with his toddler pals for him? Maybe some sympathetic mums could pick him up and drop him off for you?
