Hi all I hope no-one minds but I thought I would start a new one... we are having broadband put in (DP has convinced me that I will be able to spend more time on the phone that way ) but still on dial up now so things were getting rather slow on the other thread!

Things OK here. Thought I would do another list to start off the thread in the right way.... looking towards the end!! I've decided that next tuesday would fit in really rather nicely with all my plans, just need baby to agree!! I'm going to try and not expect him to come before due date really, then I may be pleasantly surprised, and if not, I will be fully entitled to moan and whinge. My ankles really can't take much more. They are about the size of my upper calf and that isn't an exageration!

Just enjoyed my first cup of raspberry leaf tea... not all that bad, but then I have drunk all sorts of strange concoctions from places like neal's yard in my time! So now I've drunk that, labour should be iminent, right?!

Hopefully am going to get my hair done this week with the deposit money (if we get it!) from our old flat... I haven't had my haircut since May . Been trying to let it grow as much as possible, but its been a really slow process. Might have some highlights done too. I've figured I might as well have something about me looking nice, as I don't think anything else will post birth! I have stretchmarks now on my bum, hips, thighs, calves, and really badly on my boobs. Stomach thus far has escaped, but it's these last four weeks which I've heard can really do the damage. Oh well.

Anyway I'll stop my waffling and leave you all in peace! I don't think I've missed anyone on the list, but definately have a pregnancy brain... got stuck half way upside down off the sofa earlier looking for the used lid of my yoghurt pot. I eventually found it in the empty yoghurt pot besides me. Oh dear! Don't think it was a particularly pretty site for DP to be looking at!

LOL at your aunt Flossam! Sounds like a nightmare!

CONGRATS M2E.......My DH (who is Luca as well) says your choice of name is excellent! If mine is a boy he will have Luca as a middle name.

My eyes keep welling up with all these births. Cant wait for mine to be over. Had more routine blood tests today and have to go for a routine heart monitor test tomorrow. BORING!!

WHO WILL BE NEXT?

eidsvold · 04/11/2004 10:11

don;t think it will be me BUT i will know what is going to happen after consultant's app tnext Tues... either rupture membranes - if cervix favourable or booked for caesar...... had a few braxton hicks throughout the day - first time - usually have one and that is it....

flossam your aunt sounds wonderful (sarcastic)

Gingernut - Tried the pineapple, spicy food... can't even contemplate rampant sex - much to dh's disgust

Phoebe25 · 04/11/2004 13:09

Thanx everyone! Congratulations m2e - Luca is a gorgeous name!!
Would love to chat away like in the good old days...but having a very heavy baby in my left arm renders me slightly handicapped in this area!
Soothing belly rubs being sent to all you heavily pregnant women!
Sounds mad but i wish i could do it all over again & savour every wonderful moment! (MINUS the stitches!) not so much fun!

xxx

PandaBear · 04/11/2004 15:23

Hi All - had a bit of a show last night and mild contractions so rang the hospital who told me to go in. Was monitored for a while and the contractions were irregular, and so they made me stay in, needless to say the contractions stopped so I'm back home again, and feeling them once more. There's no way I'm calling them this time, until I'm absolutely sure it's happening, I just can't sleep in hospital!!!

Hope everyone is ok

Riebee · 04/11/2004 16:05

Flossam- Thanks for pointing out I'd put the babies born Nov in wrong place .
I shall do it again under parenting
Can't blame pregnancy any longer so shall go for brain dead new mum.
Pandabear- hope thing get going again soon

Riebee · 04/11/2004 16:13

Ok the babies born in Nov thread is now in the parenting section. I don't think I'm cut out for motherhood and technology at the same time.

Hope to see a few more of you on the new thread very very soon

Discomonkfish · 04/11/2004 16:35

Congratulations Mum2Ela!! Luca is a gorgeous name....we still can't decide on a name for ours...need to see the little one first to see if he or she suits...hope my labour is as quick and as straightforward as yours x I had an appointment with the antenatal gp and asked her to check if the babies head is engaged but she didn't think it was....I'm 39 weeks tomorrow what happens if it doesn't engage and should it have happened by now??? Haven't felt anything that could be contractions at all....got a feeling this monkey could be late

eidsvold · 04/11/2004 19:35

well today is my due day!! see what the day brings - 5th of Nov here early morning and I can't sleep!!!! SUddenly got swollen feet so will try and see GP just to get my blood pressure checked

arwenevenstar · 04/11/2004 19:52

It isn't going to be me next either! Monitoring today and she is totally content in there! Few mild contractions, nothing much to report, dilated between 1 - 2 cms and 1.5 % effaced, so not a lot of change from last week, if she keeps going at this rate, I think I'll be joining births in 2005!!!! I KNOW she has to come out, but it really doesn't feel like it at the moment. Mind you, she'll probably do me pround when the moment comes, take my breath away and really get those contractions going from nothing to full strength.......1 - 60 in less than 30 seconds
Dad arrives to help out on Sunday for a week, so next week would be perfect!

Eidsvold, maybe, as your baba was conceived in the UK he/she is STILL working in UK time, in which case you have an extra few hours grace to make it on 5th!

I really can't face going to bed as my hips hurt so much lying down, yet I need to sleep. I have tried putting a cushion between my legs which does help until I have to turn over, then the cushion has to come with me and poor dh normally gets hit in the face!

Oh well.....some sufferance for him!!!
See you all in the morning I expect
Night

gingernut - I've not had any fluid retention at all so it was a little worrying when my feet ballooned last night ... still puffy this morning so will see how the bp is... I'm not worried but figured it is worth getting it checked out.

gingernut · 04/11/2004 22:43

Oh yes, def. worth getting it checked, but hopefully nothing wrong.

Flossam · 04/11/2004 23:55

Totally boring day here. Most of it spent in the loo. 7 times now today! That must be a record, surely?! I'm sure you're all very pleased to here that. Had another load of 'snot' today too! But feeling like labour is much further away than it was yesterday... probably something to do with the inpending Aunt visit, although my mum is going to strongly suggest to her that it isn't a good idea to come. My DP is now in love with the wrong woman!!

Also had a bit of a shock in that his parents are planning (apparently) to come up once baby is here, which is news to me. No mention before at all, they were not at all happy about the pregnancy but have seemed to have been calming down about it. Not sure if I have mentioned before that his 19yr old sister is also now expecting, so maybe that has helped us in a way. Very nervous about them coming now though, things will surely be strained? Oh well I shall try not to worry about it, it might still be more than 5 weeks away yet!

Had my hair done today, some highlights to make something look a bit decent about me. Quite pleased, although bored with my style figured it will be more important to keep what length I have to be able to tie it up quickly out of the way when baby arrives. Hairdresser depressed me though. Didn't think I was 'big enough' and that baby won't be arriving till december. I'm measuring about right or a centimetre above when the midwifes see me, but then I look at how Jesse Wallace was looking and I'm sure I'm not that huge? See what being on mat leave has done to me? I can't stop thinking too much about things!!

Hope to hear some news from you soon Webmum, Arwenevenstar and Eidsvold

arwenevenstar · 05/11/2004 07:11

oooh that sounds like a good idea, perhaps I should go and see if I can get my hair done, or my feet, haven't seen them in a while, mind you my legs are soooo hairy, it might be embarrassing

The mw said to me yesterday that my face looked swollen (cheeky cow!), I laughed and told her it was too much chocolate, but she said it was fluid (actually probably is the chocolate) but that prevented me from smacking her!!!

eidsvold · 05/11/2004 08:02

all checked out - not helped by a fall down the stairs on the way to the docs.... all is well but baby is very happy in my belly apparently - blood pressure a little up but given that I had just fallen down that was to be expected .. no protein in wee so that is a plus.

BUT at least I know by this time next week baby will be here one way or another....

eidsvold · 05/11/2004 08:04

oops forgot to add - apparently according to the scan - at 36 weeks babe was measuring 38 - 39 weeks!!

Riebee · 05/11/2004 08:57

Hi hope you are all ok

I'm sure one of you will have some news soon.

Flossom- I found that I went very calm a couple of days before going into labour and it seemed to feel that the possibility of going to labour seemed further away than ever.(does that make sense?) Before hand it was like all the signs were there and nothing happened then I stop feeling like the baby was going to come and that he seemed happy to stay in there, so much so that I was convinced he was going to be overdue.Maybe it will be the same for you and take you by surprise
People used to tell me I wasn't very big and then I popped out a whopper! What do they know and I'm sure you're not as big as Jesse

Thinking of you all.

Riebee · 05/11/2004 09:13

I'm being really thick here...How do you recall a message?
I was browsing earlier and posted a message on a thread that was donkeys old...read the date wrong. honestly i am soo brain dead.

webmum · 05/11/2004 10:56

no news yet.....but thanks for the wishes Flossam, I can't believe this baby is later than dd1.

Arwenstar I'd d efinitely go for a pampering treat if I were you, I had a pedicure yesterday (after weeks of getting dh to do my toenails..you can imagine what they looked like!!) and it was bliss, I felt at least a stone lighter when I came out!!

Other than that, the builders are still in, building the new staircase today, so at the weekend we'll be able to see what they've up to until now!! CAn't sleep at night keep waiting for contractions to start, not so bad during the day, I manage to keep busy,a nd with dd1 its easy enough!

Well good luck to those that ares till waiting like me, Hope to have some good news next week...

bunny2 · 05/11/2004 11:05

Another fed-up with waiting here. I still have 2 and a half weeks to go but I really hoped things might happen early for me (ds was late). The raspberry leaf tea does nothing and I have bloody indigestion every afternoon and evening - so bad it stops me eating even though I am hungry . I am also knackered but cant sleep properly and spend half the night awake. This is definately the hardest part. Flossam, your signs look good - you might be sooner than you think!

riebee, go to search current messages and look for messages where names matches yours, it should bring up recent posts you have made.

Flossam · 05/11/2004 20:01

Bunny, was trying to think of something to say to cheer you up and I'm afraid this was the best I could come up with. I know your desperate for your little one to land so to speak as you've had such a horrible time. But obviously babe likes it in there which must mean they haven't had a horrible time! It really shouldn't be long now. x

Thanks Flossam - it's the thought that counts! One day closer hurray!!

collision · 05/11/2004 22:12

Boring here too. Had heart monitored and all was fine as I knew it would be. Had a few pains across my tummy but Mum thinks it is BH! Felt sick all day and keep going to the loo too so maybe my body is getting ready and having a good clearout!

Where is Twinkie? She hasnt posted here for ages so I do hope she is OK.

eidsvold · 06/11/2004 01:09

still here - hot and tired and cranky!!! BUt figure if nothing else happens it will all be over by this time next week.....

arwenevenstar · 06/11/2004 07:01

Had me excited there Eidsvold, saw you had posted last so thought.....yay, she's off!!
Sorry you're not.
I'm still here.
Due date today......I am just going to try and keep busy otherwise I will just dwell on it.

I wish I had better news!

See you later
