Hi all I hope no-one minds but I thought I would start a new one... we are having broadband put in (DP has convinced me that I will be able to spend more time on the phone that way ) but still on dial up now so things were getting rather slow on the other thread!

Things OK here. Thought I would do another list to start off the thread in the right way.... looking towards the end!! I've decided that next tuesday would fit in really rather nicely with all my plans, just need baby to agree!! I'm going to try and not expect him to come before due date really, then I may be pleasantly surprised, and if not, I will be fully entitled to moan and whinge. My ankles really can't take much more. They are about the size of my upper calf and that isn't an exageration!

Just enjoyed my first cup of raspberry leaf tea... not all that bad, but then I have drunk all sorts of strange concoctions from places like neal's yard in my time! So now I've drunk that, labour should be iminent, right?!

Hopefully am going to get my hair done this week with the deposit money (if we get it!) from our old flat... I haven't had my haircut since May . Been trying to let it grow as much as possible, but its been a really slow process. Might have some highlights done too. I've figured I might as well have something about me looking nice, as I don't think anything else will post birth! I have stretchmarks now on my bum, hips, thighs, calves, and really badly on my boobs. Stomach thus far has escaped, but it's these last four weeks which I've heard can really do the damage. Oh well.

Anyway I'll stop my waffling and leave you all in peace! I don't think I've missed anyone on the list, but definately have a pregnancy brain... got stuck half way upside down off the sofa earlier looking for the used lid of my yoghurt pot. I eventually found it in the empty yoghurt pot besides me. Oh dear! Don't think it was a particularly pretty site for DP to be looking at!

Hooray, another addition, congratulations Phoebe, although I am more than envious now as our due dates were the same. Glad everything went well.

All I have to report is irritability, really narky with the poor children (mind you, half term isn't helping cos I really don't feel up to going anywhere, so they are bored and tearing strips off each other!), mild contractions, nausea and the wanting to crawl up into a ball...but hey, that again could just be down to half term.

I checked my previous births and they were both on weekends, so I am expecting Saturday to cut me some slack and let me have this baba!!

Although, if anyone is listening up there, NOW is good too

arwenevenstar · 02/11/2004 15:43

Just to say Phoebe, that if she'd have made the 6th, she'd have been a whopper!!!!

Riebee · 02/11/2004 17:03

congratulations phoebe25
Looks like things are getting going at last looking forwards to hearing from M2E.
Sounds like everyone is getting signs of things starting happen
Flossam- I had snotty discharge in the couple of weeks leading up the birth aswell and I took it as a show, combined with you needing to go the loo I'd say things are hotting up. I was sick a couple of days before I went into labour, it sounds your body is having a good clearing out before the big day! maybe we will hear fron you soon
M2E suggested I start a born in Nov thread...What do you think? Shall I get it going? I know I should be in the Oct really but I thought I would stay with you guys if that ok

Flossam · 02/11/2004 17:32

Cangratulations from here too Phoebe! Jasmine is a lovely name for a not quite so little girl!!

Go for it Reibee, start the thread! You should have Phoebe to talk to now (and NannyJo unless she's joined elsewhere as she was so early?) and I suspect Mum2Ela will be there quite promptly too! I only hope that I qualify to join that thread too! Not sure if things are that close here. I am only 37 weeks today and would be surprised if I wasn't still sat here alone in three weeks time! I desperately wanted to have my bag packed and sorted properly on Sunday. DP was still using the bag I wanted to transfer everything into so had a strop! been out today and got the one I wanted and now everything is in and neat and tidy and I feel a bit more organised. Always seems to be something else to do though. Spending far less time on the computer than before, so busy sorting things out!! Guess I'm trying to make the most of my life before little one comes to take over! Bless!

Congrats to all of you new mums!! I hope everything goes well for you over the next few weeks, and I hope the rest of us can join you on the new babies born in Nov thread!!

vivie · 02/11/2004 18:57

congratulations phoebe25!

Nothing to report here except that I have toothache as if I didn't have enough on, I'm going to have to go to the dentist too now.

collision · 02/11/2004 22:21

OOOOOHH!! CONGRATS TO EVERYONE SO FAR!!

Flossam, I am due 3 weeks today as well and feel like I will be PG forever! Am a grumpy cow and hate everything!!

Wonder how M2E is getting on?

Eidsvold.....how are you?

gingernut · 02/11/2004 22:37

Congratulations to Phoebe and nannyjo! And hello beckswith3.

Hope you have your baby by now M2E.

Nothing much to report, except that I have a rather upset tummy. Don't suppose it's a sign though, just one of those things I guess. I feel a bit like morning sickness has returned in that I feel a bit nauseous and eating something seems to relieve it (or is this just an excuse for being a piggie??).

Flossam, sorry can't help re the show, I didn't have one (that I noticed) last time. But 8am is a decent lie-in in my book (although I admit that would've annoyed me pre-ds's arrival!).

eidsvold · 03/11/2004 02:44

tired, fed up and had enough but hey thanks for asking collision..... they are giving me until next Tues and if I have not gone into labour they will see if my cervix is favourable to rupturing my membranes - if not - then I will have another caesar.. They are quite concerned at the size of this babe ( 85th percentile approx 8lb10 oz now...) compared with the size of dd ( just 6lb)

poor dh - woke up this morning just crying - 'it's not fair, I just know I am going to have another caesar' and so on.... poor dh did not know what to say - BUT thankfully did not say the 'hormonal' word.....

Very painful pubic area - you know where the bones meet in the front, hard to sit and stand and can't roll over in bed.... so maybe something is up.....

eidsvold · 03/11/2004 02:44

I actually feel like just giving up and saying - just give me the caesar.....

bunny2 · 03/11/2004 08:44

eidsvold - hang on in there, it's nearly over.

Nine months is just too damn long, 6 months would be about right for a gestation period. I too am p*ssed off with the whole business.

Riebee · 03/11/2004 09:01

Eidsvold_Im sure it won't be long now...hang in there. Sending you go into labour vibes
I've had the pubic pain too, i know how painful it can be, I was told it was the ligaments stretching and yes I'm afraid it's due to the dreaded hormones! They advised that I try not to open legs too wide (bit late for that )keep knees together when getting out of car& bed. Sitting down when getting dress etc.
Hope you feel better soon, keep you chin up and renember my ds was a whopping 9lbs 9ozs and he came out ok
I will try and do the other thread late...got to go ds the is calling for the old boobies

Mum2Ela · 03/11/2004 09:08

My gorgeous baby boy, Luca, arrived yesterday at 9.48am after a speedy 2 and a bit hour labour!! 7lb 11oz.

My waters broke at about 5.45am and I got to hospital at about 8. Had mild contractions from half seven, then severely from half eight. I asked for the gas and air and so they examined me, when I was told I was fully dilated and ready to have the baby! Result!

It was more painful than I remember but can't compain as I did not tear and didn't need any stitches.

We were home by tea time yesterday afternoon and had the family round for champers. A brilliant day all round and I feel thoroughly pleased with myself!

DD in awe of Luca, shes been so good with him and she slept all night even when baby was testing his lungs!!

Will keep checking the thread to be up to date, sorry I haven't yet had chance to read the messages since I posted yesterday morning.

Take care girls!! Not long now!!!

x

gingernut · 03/11/2004 09:25

Yay, M2E, well done and welcome to your little man! Can't say I'm not jealous though !

It'll be your turn soon eidsvold, don't worry. Are you trying any of the methods that are supposed to bring on labour? (there is supposed to be something in the one about eating fresh pineapple for instance) (I'm not going to suggest the other one that is supposed to be true, in case you get all hormonal with me ).

chicaguapa · 03/11/2004 11:52

Nothing from me either! Due 6th as well (dating scan changed it from 11th) and just waiting...

Thought it was all going to happen on Sat, had all the right signs that contractions were about to start but by end of Sunday it had all stopped. Even cancelled my night away in Newcastle on Monday to see a concert as I was so sure...

I just keep telling myself that however bad I feel today, if I go into labour right now I'll be feeling a lot worse tomorrow - no sleep, feel like been run over, can't sit down properly... it helps!

Have routine appt with mw on Monday so hopefully a sweep will do the trick if I'm still waiting around by then.

The fireworks on Friday might start a few people off anyway...

beckswith3 · 03/11/2004 11:59

well I'm here and I'm 7days overdue, everyone on the oct thread has delivered. Inducing me next wed but I really hope I'll just go into labour naturally, have done with last 2. Organised a fireworks party at mine for friday so maybe that'll trigger me off!

Flossam · 03/11/2004 13:35

Gingernut you think 8ams a lie in! OMG what have I let myself in for!! I don't need it so much now but when I was working and doing the long shifts I could easily sleep in till 11 or 12 o clock the next day I was so knackered... But baby is going to be probably even more tiring! Nothing new here.

Congratulations Mum to Ela, that sounds like a lovely, speedy birth! Well done you! Think I will try out the fireworks theory.. If I can get DP to come with me, he has his friend coming this weekend so we'll see. Sorry, Beckswith3, I didn't say hello last night! Hope something happens for you very soon. And Bunny, cheer up, whatever else we are more than 8/9ths of the way there! Thats something to be pleased about at least. Hope you are ok. x

SpringChicken · 03/11/2004 15:36

Congratulations M2E - Wonderful news!

Glad it all went so smoothly for you - here's hoping for one like that next time round!!!

bunny2 · 03/11/2004 15:44

M2E, huge congratulations . What an amazing birth! I ma so glad it went quickly and smoothly. Luca is a lovely name too - one of my best mates boys is a Luca. Hugs to you both. Bxxx

Riebee · 03/11/2004 17:09

M2E Congratulations on your wonderful news . forgot to say to congrats to Nannyjo last time I was on

hello becswith3

I have started the babies in Nov thread so hope to see the rest of you there very soon!!
Will keep popping in to see whats happening

Good luck to you all.

PandaBear · 03/11/2004 17:27

Congrats M2E - if my labour goes half as well as yours did, I'll be really grateful!!!

Eidsvold, I know what you mean - I too have had enough and the pubic pain is really bad here too. A good night's sleep is definitely a thing of the past. Still only another, couple of weeks to go, and then however many months before the new born sleeps through!

TO everyone that's been through it, what do early contractions feel like? I don't really know as I was induced with DD and so they were intense straight off. I've been having tight tummy sensations every 15 minutes or so, not painful but uncomfortable, I guess they are Braxton Hicks, but just thought I'd ask.

Take care all and fingers crossed we are all on the baby's born in Nov thread soon.

webmum · 03/11/2004 18:20

pandabear

with my first labour, early cintractions were kind of like period pain, only worse, but manageable, and the only reason I knew it was labour was that they were quite regular starting at about 10 min then slowly shortening the gap. You could also say they felt like tightening all around the bump, but I suppsoe everyone feels them differently...

I'm 3 days overdue now, dd1 was 4 days late, maybe she wants to emulate her sister??? (she hopes)

Lots of congratulations (and a tiny bit of envy) to those of you who have had your babies, I soo want to join you now......

gingernut · 03/11/2004 19:08

PandaBear, the tightenings do sound like Braxton Hicks to me (and I think they are often every 15-20 mins). I think people's experiences of early labour can be quite variable. Mine started in the middle of the night, and I was woken by a contraction. To me, it didn't feel like period pain, it was a definite contraction (I'd had a miscarriage before ds1 and had contractions then, so I knew straight away `this is it'. My BHs, while they can be uncomfortable, feel very different somehow). So, that was my experience - there was just no mistaking it. But if your tightenings get stronger and closer together then it could be it!

Flossam, pre-children I could easily sleep half the morning and when on mat leave before ds was born I certainly didn't get up before about 9am most days. I'm just jealous y'know . A few weeks ago, ds stayed overnight with some friends and we slept till 8am on a Saturday morning, it felt amazing! But pre-kids I would have thought that was far too early!

Flossam · 03/11/2004 21:18

Hello everyone again. DP is on nights now so a little bit bored and annoyed there seems to be nothing much decent on tele! Never mind. Nothing new here, still getting period type pains off and on, get a little bit like, ohhh, maybe it won't be long. Then they stop and reality sets in... it's going to be bloody ages! Still needing the loo loads, just wondering if it is where baby has his head now (lucky him!) putting extra pressure on down there IYSWIM. I have IBS normally so maybe it is also down to worrying about labour etc!

My aunty has just phoned, a very strange lady with no children. Wants to come down before the birth, planning for the 19th so desperately hoping that DS will come early! She was complaining about her constipation this evening, and said it was like giving birth but that at least she was able to flush hers away! So perhaps you can understand why I'm not too enthralled at the prospect of her visit and why DP is racking his brains for reasons to be 'out'. Can't help thinking that following sod's law I'll still be sat there on the 19th huge and pregnant and having to listen to her all day. Never mind. God I do witter on don't I? Sorry!
