Anyone else pregnant with not then 1? I have a lovely month group but the chatty ones are all having singletons and with the extra scans and additional worries I don't feel I really have anyone else to talk to going through the same so thought it might help others too?

Currnetly 17 weeks pregnant with mono Di babies

Fortnightly and we're aiming for 36 weeks. Only got to35 with DS so I suppose 36 wouldn't feel so early to me

Hi

Feeling like I seriously don't pay attention to the technical bits in my maternity notes compared to the rest of you, I'm 17 weeks with the non identical, each in their own bit twins. Early scan suggests boy/girl.

It's new levels of exhaustion compared to just one baby, although I had DS 12 years ago so it might be down to being old...

Can anyone feel theirs moving? What week did you start feeling it?

SleepingStandingUp · 14/08/2019 23:45

They're Bi Bi twins I think

Retroverted uterus and anterior placenta, can't feel anything except a rare fluter. Thank god for fortnightly scans

powerslidepanda I went on maternity leave at 34 weeks, I had a very short commute and easy office job, but I did feel it was probably a week too late for me. 33 weeks would have been perfect as that last week was a struggle.

36 weeks today and my elcs has been scheduled for Monday! Twin 1 has dropped down the growth chart so they gave me steroids and said they are ready to come out.

SleepingStandingUp · 16/08/2019 13:00

@boodles101 good luck for Monday and sympathy for that injection, it frigging hurts doesn't it? Z

Fortnightly scans sound good, Sleeping - glad they're keeping a close eye on you.

I felt movement quite early with this pregnancy, but I often struggle to tell which twin is doing it - hard to track whether the movements are ok or reduced!

Wow, working til 34 weeks is good going, boodles! Hope all goes well on Monday. Are you allowed home for the weekend, or do you have to stay in hospital?

Mysteriously · 16/08/2019 21:37

Hi I'm 25 weeks with DCDA boy/girl twins, I had terrible sickness up untill around 20 weeks, glad to be feeling better now but apart from that everything has been going quite well so far

boodles101 · 17/08/2019 13:15

powerslidepanda I'm allowed home so have been getting everything ready at home. Me and DH had a nice date night last night so we are fully ready for them to arrive now!

SleepingStandingUp · 19/08/2019 08:19

Our local hospital runs twin classes and first was yesterday. Take home message was hospital bag packed by week 28 - but what do I put in it?
Most hospital bag lists assume baby born and home. I don't know where to start!!

Even if they coem at say 34 weeks we'll likely be in transitional care for a few days, how many baby grows etc do new babies use??

Sorry, DS didn't get clothed until he was about 6 weeks old, and by the time he came home at 13 werks he was tube fed and medicated for reflux etc so we didn't go through clothes like I read you do

@boodles101 ooh good luck today!!

PowerslidePanda · 19/08/2019 20:22

Hope everything well went for you today boodles! I'm glad they let you home over the weekend so you and your DH could have some time together before the babies' arrival.

Sleeping - Wow, it's great that your hospital do twins classes - mine don't! We've signed up for a local TAMBA workshop though. My hospital bag is packed just in case, but it's only stuff for me at the moment - I figured if the babies come at this point, they won't fit into any of the clothes or nappies or things that I would have packed - but I have no experience of a preemie, so it's interesting to hear that your DS wasn't clothed until 6 weeks anyway! When the time does come to add that sort of thing to the bags, we were planning to take a full pack of nappies and 6-8 vests and sleepsuits - enough to keep us going for a couple days. DH can always bring more in if they're needed.

SleepingStandingUp · 19/08/2019 20:47

@PowerslidePanda only because he was incredibly poorly and full of wires and far too fragile to handle for clothes. Nurses dressed him the first time as a surprise for us! Normally they'd be dressed cos it keeps the heat in

Yeah only 4 classes but will be nice to meet some other Mums all due around the same time and all run by our shared midwife who is super lovely

Thankyou. Both babies arrived safely this afternoon and doing great, no extra help needed. Girl was 4lb14 and boy 5lb13. Breastfeeding started well and I'm loving the newborn cuddles.

Ejb86 · 22/08/2019 06:02

Hi ladies. I'm 12+2 based on LMP with what we think are momo twins based on early scan. Got my hospital 12 week scan on 4th Sept, seems so far away!

I'm going for bloods today at the hospital. I was in a car accident on Tuesday, nothing too bad, but I'm worried about my babies. Do you think EPU will check them over while I'm there?

I'm a teacher so looking at finishing at Christmas when I'll be almost 31 weeks. That feels really early, didn't finish until 37 with DS but I know I'm going to need to go so much sooner. I look like I'm 6 months gone already, going to be the size of a house!

Ejb86 · 22/08/2019 06:03

@boodles101 congratulations!

SleepingStandingUp · 22/08/2019 08:26

@Ejb86 congrats and welcome to the club! Are they Mono mono or Mono Di twins?

In my experience they won't scan until you're 12 weeks unless you're experiencing bleeding etc. I know it feels like a lifetime away. You'll be 14 weeks at your scan so you could see if thry have a cancellation for an earlier one?

OP posts:
Ejb86 · 22/08/2019 08:37

At the early scan it appeared that they were mono mono, both sharing one sac. I have been told that there could be a tiny membrane between them by a midwife friend, I guess I'll know more on the 4th.

Ive already tried for a cancellation as I'm back at work on 2nd but they had none free and were pretty insistent that I just keep the date they've given me.

SleepingStandingUp · 22/08/2019 09:02

Def possible to miss it early on. My 7 week scan said 1 baby!! 12 week scan showed a membrane with A LOT of looking and a very good eye. 16 week scan thry couldn't find one at all. 17 week scan it was so clear I could see it myself. It's so positional so hopefully once babies are a bit bigger they'll find it.

I only said it seemed late as the screening for the trisomies is normally earlier than that

OP posts:
Ejb86 · 22/08/2019 09:34

Hopefully that's the case then. Thinking they're mono mono has had me so worried with the associated risks.

I've read that scans for twins can take much longer than for singletons. Have you found this to be the case?

We saw one heartbeat at 7 weeks, 2 at 10 and again at 11, but no membrane between them as yet.

SleepingStandingUp · 22/08/2019 09:50

Well I have pain the bladder babies eho like to scooch really low in my pelvis and hide so yup, def longer lol. The 16 week scan had to be redone as she couldn't find anything - membrane, bladder etc. Thry were just too low and scrunched up. 17 week scan was super quick as babies had moved. 19 week scan took ages and we left without full measurements. 21 week scan I'm expecting to take ages as it's officially the anomoly scan. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed thry find the membrane x

OP posts:
Ejb86 · 22/08/2019 16:33

She's warned me this morning to expect to be there a long time at my scan in a couple of weeks. Hopefully they'll have a really good look at the little monkeys and find me a membrane!

SleepingStandingUp · 29/08/2019 23:21

Hi ladies,

Anyone who packed their hospital bag, how many baby grows / Sleepsuits, Vests, socks and hats did you pack?

Google said 20 Sleepsuits. 20-30 Vests.

DH was a bit "you're not Beyonce you know" and I'm worried my shopping list is inadequate

OP posts:
Ejb86 · 04/09/2019 20:43

@SleepingStandingUp Had my scan. No membrane found. Babies measuring 13+4 and 13+2. Consultant appointment on Tuesday. Going to spend more time at the hospital than I am at work I think!
