Weddingcake! What a fantastic story, thank you SO much for sharing it. As a fellow first timer is it fab to have some bearable stories to offset the horrors.

Delighted you had a good experience and that you surprised yourself with your pain threshold. I am also a wimp, so you will be my inspiration!

Look after yourself, and big hugs xx

Cyee · 22/06/2007 13:09

Congrats Bertieboo and welcome Alexandra! Sorry to hear about your house and hope you get home soon.

Hi to everyone else

YAY Wedding Cake! What a great story. Okay, lots of poo, but really wonderful nonetheless!

V.V. Happy for you!

bilblio · 22/06/2007 14:26

Congratulations Bertieboo and welcome to little Alexandra.

Weddingcake, what a fantastic story! I think I was in my teens when my Mum told me she thought I was a poo. They'd given her an enema but when she went to go to the toilet the midwife told her off as I was too close to arriving. Apparently she spent the rest of the labour apologising for pooing but it was actually me

JennsterFrogLover · 22/06/2007 14:34

Congratulations weddingcake! I spent a good few hours labouring on toilet too, although I had entinox to keep me company coz I knew I was in labour and was having a homebirth. Sitting backwards on the loo is actually quite a good upright position, and you can rest your head on your arms on the cistern.

Mf appt today and all fine, but measuring small. Have a tiny little bump, but mw not bothered as dd was tiny. If I carry on the same line (10th Centile), then lo due to be 200g heavier than dd. I am all baby which is worrying. All my weight is on hips and thighs. I just need to hold on 'til 1 July and I'm allowed to have baby early at home, but mw on holiday from 1-14th so she has banned me from going in to labour until she gets back. She wants to deliver this one as was off duty last time.

bilblio · 22/06/2007 14:34

Oops meant to add twoplusone if you're dehydrated your wee will smell strongly of ammonia, but you're right it will also be dark so it doesn't sound like you are. It could be something you've eaten. Asparagus for example is a classic one for making your wee smell very pungent, not really ammonia-y though.

My job means I have far too many conversations about poo and wee, often at mealtimes too, very little phases me

Hope you figure out what's going on soon.

Miaou · 22/06/2007 14:59

Fantastic birth story weddingcake - I guess it really wasn't funny but the way you tell it it makes very entertaining reading!! Congratulations bertieboo too! Ooooh this is getting scary now, things are really starting to hot up!!

I'm now 36 weeks pg as of tomorrow, which means I'm OK to deliver in my local hossie from now on. A lovely neighbour of ours has offered to look after the dc's anytime, day or night, if I go into labour - we might take her up on the offer, in which case dh could be with me for the birth, which would be nice, but I'm certainly not banking on it!

My mum and dad are on their way up to see us for the weekend (they have a motorhome and are going to park it outside our house!!) - my mum hasn't seen our new place yet so she is very excited to visit.

Just had a call from the surgery to say my haemoglobin levels are too low and will I please go in and see them next week - was really hoping to get away without taking iron tablets as I'm already constipated . Might just see how low they are first - I feel fine in myself.

Lastly, I made a lovely friend at aquanatal classes, who told me this week that she has just been diagnosed with breast cancer (she is due 10 days after me). I feel so devastated for her (some of you have seen and posted on my thread in Health about this). I am hoping everything will be ok for her but it must be so hard!!

Best wishes to you all

Cakehead · 22/06/2007 15:15

Weddingcake, your story really made me laugh - you did fantastically well, though. Nearly 10 cms and no pain relief?!! Wow.
And Bertieboo - congratulations to you and little Alexandra.
Miaou, if you need iron, there's a thing you can take in pregnancy called Spa-tone. It's a sachet of iron that won't leave you constipated. Think big branches of Boots will sell it, but it's safe to use and saves that bunged-up feeling...

Pula - LOVE this - need to tell the DP/DH to be around/sober

Myfairone · 22/06/2007 16:49

Bertieboo, congrats on your safe arrival (another early baby, oh my!)

Weddingcake - I am smiling so much my face hurts at your birth story! Go girl! You have given me courage and been an inspiration! Well done!

Twoplusone - After my nightmare week of constantly poo'ing (and no mine was poo and not a baby!) my pee has been really really strong. Saw the midwife today who said that dehydration can cause a strong smelling pee...so maybe drink some more water...or you could always get yourself some diaralyte...hydrates you so quickly and makes the LO dance!

Miaou - I am so sorry to hear about your friends diagnosis. If its any help, my Mum was diagnosed 3 years ago now, she had an op, she had chemo and radiotherapy (I won't say any of that was easy) BUT she is fine...she came through and I am so proud of her positivity throughout. Your friend will need positive people around her so just make yourself available and send her big hugs from me. She can do it!

I just saw the midwife and everything is fine with my LO (After the horrendous week I have had!)I am so relieved. I measured a little small but that was to be expected after not eating for a week! So nice to hear that heartbeat!

Big hugs to all...nearly there girls, nearly there!

Caroline1852 · 22/06/2007 17:16

Bertieboo - congrats on your new arrival.

OP posts:
Groveregg · 22/06/2007 17:19

Wow congratulations Bertieboo! And weddingcake I love the story! Twoplusone hope your LO holds on until dh gets back...

I've just seen that it's past 5pm on a Friday and we haven't had our usual from abgirl today - does this mean she could be too busy squeezing out a LO?! (No pressure abgirl if you're reading this and just feeling too tired to do your usual list, I am letting everything slip at the moment!)

I have a midwife coming round tomorrow to discuss homebirth with us - she wanted to come at the weekend so that dh can ask questions too. The only problem is that the room I am hoping to do it all in is still full of our builder's things (he's a friend and despite constant requests seems incapable of doing more than an hour's work every week) so I'm not sure the midwife'll be very impressed...

MelissaM · 22/06/2007 17:24

Congratulations Bertieboo! Wow another early baby. Sorry to hear about problems with house and hope they get sorted soon.

Weddingcake - thanks for sharing your birth story.

twoplusone and others, I think I have joined you with the period pains. Hope this lo doesn't come too soon as dh and I are meant to be going out for the day on Sunday!

twoplusone · 22/06/2007 19:13

Just a quick update.. dh is eventually home.. slightly pissed!!.
Still feeling the same, but seem to be leaking a bit down below.. not sure what just had a bath so will see what happens could be I havent dried myself properly

I will probably wake up in the morning feeling fine and dandy and pain free.

Love to all have a great night..

Jamantha · 22/06/2007 19:17

Congratulations Bertieboo. Hope you get back to your own home soon. See you on the pn thread when you're up to it?

JennsterFrogLover · 22/06/2007 20:57

2+1 good luck! Things are really hotting up on the thread!

abgirl · 22/06/2007 21:36

Anyone else have restless leg syndrome? It's AWFUL.

Myfairone · 23/06/2007 09:30

Twoplusone - How are you today? I'm glad to hear that DH came home and only slightly pissed!

Abgirl - Thanks again for the stats...things really are starting to move around here now!

Divaskychik - No thankfully..it seems the only thing I'm not complaining about these days though!

Well after 2 slices of toast and a boiled egg for tea yesterday it seems I over did it! Back on the diaralyte again today. I have never had a tummy problem this bad! Food is just going nowhere but out right now! Getting very sick of myself now.

Hope your all feeling well and that your bumps are behaving!

typhoonsmum · 23/06/2007 09:31

Everyone mentions the post natal threads but where are they.

Have a prime example of baby brain here.

DP gave me £20 to go and get the indian takeaway last week. The total came to £10 which was meant to be a fiver each. When I got back I only had a fiver change in my purse. (The rest was in coins)He already owed me a tenner so he told me to just give him the fiver and keep the change as that would make us even. For days I couldn't work it out. Still not convinced he hasn't conned me out of money. (P.s. I got a "B" in GCSE maths, so I'm fairly good at maths)

Groveregg · 23/06/2007 10:03

LOL typhoonsmum, why do the hormones make us so dozy?! I was relying on one of my best friends to look after me and make sure I am not too daft, but now she is 13 weeks pg herself and starts looking blank in the middle of most conversations, we must make sure we don't go out together without someone else with us I think.

Postnatal clubs are in a different topic section, under "being a parent".

Thanks for the stats abgirl!

twoplusone · 23/06/2007 10:55

feeling a bit better today thank you, but had a restless night.. I slept onthe sofa as my legs were really restless.. (very annoying), and had strong BH. When I first got into bed having the bh and resless leg and dh beer breath and him snoring and tryingt o cuddle me was far too much!!.

When DS got up at 6am dh sent me back to bed which I did at 7am, then he woke me up at 11.15 as we a have bday party to go to.

As I predicted yesterday, think it is just my body getting redy for things to happen (hopefully) with in the next 3 weeks.

Have a good day all

THanks for the stats abgirl
