Emmymummy · 22/04/2007 10:18

Hi Maveta. Not trying to jump the queue, honestly [evil grin]. Not likely to happen anyway, so don't you worry girl! Beautiful here too today, just watching all the fit bods running the London marathon and contemplating whether I'll ever be brave enough to give it a go.....

Sexonknackeredlegs · 22/04/2007 10:35

Hello all.

I have changed my chat name - tada!

All ok here. Katie sleeps well during the day (!), but to be fair last night she slept from 2.30 until 7.00, so can't complain. She is a bit of a grazer when it comes to her milk, but I keep forgetting this is only day 3 of her life!

HTH as people here. xx

Mrsjaffabiffa · 22/04/2007 10:47

CRASHING AGAIN! SORRY

maveta · 22/04/2007 10:47

Stick to watching it Emmymummy! Much more fun I´m sure

Girls this thread might be of interest to some of you?? Don´t know but just in case...

Love the new name SOKL!

Smole · 22/04/2007 11:41

Ok first chance to post. Thank you for all your messages of support.

Jesse is fine. It turned out not only was his blood too thick and not feeding but he had an infection and needed antibiotics as well as an eye infection.

We had a few problems when we got him home with his feeding but that is all sorted now.

He was tested for downs which he does have. However since he does not have many of the problems associated with downs ie no heart problems, no poor muscle tone (in fact he's a strong little fellow), etc., the consultant was hopeful that he will only have a mild form, but time will tell. We have decided to take each day as it comes and face his difficulties when and if we come across them.

We have also made the decision not to announce to everyone that he has downs. My DH has cousin who has MS and I wouldn't dream of introducing her to people as "our cousin with MS" and I don't feel I should have to introduce Jesse as "my son with downs". He is my son - period.

Longest post I've ever done. Thank you again for all your messages of support.

Katy44 · 22/04/2007 11:49

Hi Smole,
I'm glad Jesse is fine now and that his feeding is going well. It must have been a worrying time for you. Glad to hear that his Down's seems to be mild.
Anyway - don't think we've had any pictures of Jesse yet, do you have any you can post? I'm hoping lots of pictures of cute newborns will start labour somehow!
(As you've probably gathered those of us 'left' are getting impatient!!)

maveta · 22/04/2007 12:09

Hi Smole, lovely to see you on here and to hear that Jesse is settled in at home, sounds like you are all doing well. Hope you are enjoying your ´babymoon´ now that these worrying first weeks are past xx

PS. I agree with Katy44.. we NEED cute baby pics to try and get those hormones flowing and these babies OUT! lol

Sexonknackeredlegs · 22/04/2007 12:10

Smole, great to hear from you, and I am so pleased Jesse is doing ok. What a worrying time for you all.

My DH's cousins son has Downs, and it is also mild. He is a lovely affectionate boy and I think you are absolutely right not to introduce him as "my son with Downs".

Hope everyone else is well. HTH as Tesco are here.

Bugmum · 22/04/2007 12:12

Smole - If you see this, wanted you to know that you have been very much in our thoughts, and it is wonderful news that Jesse is doing so well. Completely understand why you don't want to introduce Jesse with an epithet, as well! He will be just his own self, and any health or other problems will be part of that, not descriptive of it. I wish you so much luck and happiness.

weeonion - congratulations!!! look forward to hearing details.

Ellie - sorry you have been feeling down; don't let it go on, however: if you continue to feel bad (even where there is a tangible reason), then there are people you can talk to. Professionals, I mean.

It's my due date today, but nothing is happening (just as the midwife said it wouldn't). In fact, all my 'signs' have pretty much deserted their posts. So have eaten three mini-muffins so far, in a 'at least I can still do this' pathetic kind of way.

Vibes to the few of us left, floating around in the wasteland that is the ante-natal thread xx

octo · 22/04/2007 12:34

CONGRATS WEEONION - great news!

heidle · 22/04/2007 12:59

afternoon everyone!
nothing exciting to report from here, congratulations to everyone who has finished the race already............am v jealous and working my way through the list of things to bring on labour before any more bloody phone calls!!!!

smole - great to hear how you are all getting on, it must be nice to be home and all together and ready to get on with life again!

off to face all the other mothers at kids birthday party later, at least it's a chance for a sit down and a gossip

bye for now
xx

CaptainDippy · 22/04/2007 13:24

Afternoon ladies. Head is feeling v.wibbly, feeling very restless andn ot sure what to do with myself ..... Humph. DH is in the garden and DD's are having a wee snooze (hurrah) .... Need to tidy up after lunch and prepare dinner; but just don't have the energy. Blob.

LOL @ the name change SOKL!

Glad that all the new mummies seem to be doing well ......

CaptainDippy · 22/04/2007 13:25

Hope you don't mind, Smole, but I have cut & pasted your most recent post into the Christian Prayer Request Thread - we have all been praying for Jesse and your guys there ......

runnyhabbit · 22/04/2007 13:33

Hi all

Very quick message to all of you ladies in waiting -

KEEP TAKING THE RASPBERRYLEAF TEA/TABLETS!

It was my mw who told me off for not taking them, and I'm convinced they made the second stage of labour more "efficient" iyswim

If (and its a big "if") I have another lo, then I'll be taking it from 37 weeks exactly, and not stopping til it comes out

Sending lots of labour vibes to you all

xx

CaptainDippy · 22/04/2007 13:41

Will do - Thanks for the advice honey - Hope you are doing ok!!

Katy44 · 22/04/2007 13:48

thanks runny, was just starting to wonder if they were doing anything

Whendoobygotstuckupthechimney · 22/04/2007 14:19

Hi All..hurry up..so we can all be on post natal thread!
Great to hear you are all home Smole..you must be relieved and now you can get on with being a family.Totally undestand your decision.I love the name Jesse..we considered that name for our one as that's his geat grandads name but chose Milo n the end...it seems to suit himAnyway ladies...walks,curries,lots of raspberry leaf tea and stern talkings to your bumps please.

bumble75 · 22/04/2007 15:20

Congrats WeeOnion! Look forward to more details soon.

Smole, great news that Jesse is home and doing well.

Had what I thought might have been a mini show this morning but think it was just wishful thinking... have packed dh off to pub and parents to movies, think they thought I may do them physical harm if they didn't leave me alone for a couple of hours. Am complete ungrateful cow as they have been dream houseguests and a big help but just want an hour to myself while I still can.... going to take my grumpy self for a lie down.

Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday.

xx
