Hi all - I'm formally known as disinterested and have been on this thread since the start congratulations on all the new arrivals!

I am going in at 8am tomorrow morning to be induced and can't think of much else...

@MegRam I know you didn’t ask me but thought I’d offer advice  I change DDs nappy before feeds to wake her up and to keep her awake I blow on her face (MWs advice!) or stroke her cheek.

@Fleetwoodmac2 how exciting!! Hope it all goes smoothly.

So many babies being born

@MegRam I’m having the same issue with waking although she is getting a little better now and my milk has come (starting day 4 now)
The midwife that came to mine said was to undress her on changing mat to get her to wake so if everything else fails that’s what I do

Getting very exciting with all the baby’s coming into the world,

I’m still here hoping mine would of made an appearance by now, had all of 2 hours sleep got raging tooth ache and just want to back some ibrophen but can’t 😭😭.
Got midwife at 3.30 to see if they will bring me in any earlier as I can’t walk also got really bad restless legs. Just feel like poo!! Xxx

@MegRam yep, I do the same as mills but also removing a sock and tickling her feet, or tickling the feet through the Babygro, or my mom recommends a rattle but we haven't tried that yet as haven't got one. Also I wind her midway through, and sometimes throw in a bouncing song (currently The Farmer in the Dale is the favourite LOL!). A midwife advised if all else fails, change her nappy in the middle of feeds rather than before a feed, but I found that made her spit up too much (she already has to nurse upright to deal with my fast flow and there's still a lot of hiccuping). 37 weeks tomorrow - just got back from the midwife appointment.

Baby is measuring HUGE, and has done for weeks, but today his reading was an anomaly and not part of the 'curve'.

Going for a growth scan next week, however midwife said it was useless really as it wouldn't change anything... i.e. I will still try for a vaginal birth.

My naivety I guess? I presumed I would be induced, or booked in for a c-section.

Does anyone have any experience of this? If the growth scan really is a waste of time, why have one?

She did encourage me to think about additional pain relief, and epidural vs remifentanil as the birth could be longer and more 'difficult'.

I have Midwife today too @Ruthcarr1990 !! Last one before section on Tue! She will try sweep which I know she most likely will be unable to do this early and it'll do literally nothing apart from cause unnecessary discomfort, but anything's worth a try to avoid section.

Oh no @cheshiremama89 ! Hopefully they are wrong and scan will be more reassuring. It doesn't seem to be very exact and loads of people say scans and fundal height measurements were inaccurate and they had perfectly normal sized babies.

Oh wow there's so much happening so exciting!!

@Isabeau1980 hope you are managing with the cluster feeds Ivy started last night wanting a feed every hour and wouldn't settle inbetween. Was up all night but managed to get a couple hours sleep this morning while dh looked after her.

@MegRam congratulations and welcome to the world little baby girl! Well done you for doing it just with gas and air! I tried and managed with tens and gas and air up till the last hour and half where it got too much and I opted for epidural. I knew I didn't want pethedine or diamorphine because that made me ill for days with ds.
For waking for feeds I'm doing similar to others. Strip down to vest or nappy, stroke ears, nose, cheek, chin, talk to her, stroke feet. And I definitely prefer to change her nappy in the middle of a feed to wake her up again, I've found that helps the most. Takes time but persistence pays. Last night was first time she's fed on demand rather than me having to wake her.

@reetgood congratulations sounds like you went through it well done and welcome to he world little baby boy! So worth it all!

@Seven0fNine glad you are ok with the idea of c section now. Like you say it obviously was meant to be now baby is breech. Not long to wait for your baby cuddles now!

@WLMcI congratulations she's beautiful! Our little girls share a birthday 😀 What time was your LO born? Well done on the feeding and keeping her weight up. My midwife came yesterday and Ivy has hardly lost anything either. I can't remember what percentile she put her in but she said she's doing really well.

Just out of my midwife appointment. 40 weeks today. MW is suddenly now a bit unsure if baby is breech or not I've to go for a scan tomorrow to confirm. If I go into labour before the scan I've to get myself down to the hospital pronto so they can do a scan straightaway. Nothing like a bit of drama!

Cheshiremama I also have a baby who is measuring very big and on the growth scan at 36 weeks was already estimated as 7.9. PGP means I've been really immobile and now everything is so tight after Christmas too. I keep getting lines on my swollen legs from my mat clothes being so tight!

Ah @Mortigua I feel your pain!

Ours is reading at 8lbs 2 so far, I'm hoping the scan will be a lot more accurate and reveal I'm just carrying more water.

Although MW did say it feels "all baby"

The scans are not that accurate or so I've been told ( in fact the sonographer got two differing measurements at the growth scan and decided to record the smaller one rather than the one that was off the charts for the baby's tummy...) but it's still a bit alarming to hear isn't it! I've been measuring a month ahead. It seems they don't worry anyway though. I am so much more weighed down this time in all ways!
I know it will all be over and I'm being unreasonable as it's still 10 days til my due date but feeling really despondent today.

Had 38 week check up. Dr just said well hopefully the baby will be here before then when I asked about my next appointment

Consultant said all is looking like it's moving alone nicely but if she were to bet nothing will happen till the week beginning the 15th
I'd be happy with that TBH, we've workers in next week and I'd like to just watch telly and chill

This cough is really getting me down though
I'm so tired and sore from it
Consultant said I could try a cough bottle with codeine in it but pharmacist would give me it without a prescription
Have rang doc to see if they can send a prescription 😒

Poor you forumusername. I had to have co codamol in my last pregnancy and it did help.
I guess I may feel less wiped out next week once the kids are back at school. Going to ring the MW tomorrow on the Drs advice to talk through whether they do a GD test now but I suspect she will say no as there are no other signs.

@Maybebaby2 I really don't care about him cluster feeding because I'm so happy.

Do you think it's possible to request a second opinion? So far we've had 3 growth scans on the 50th centile, one on the 80th, then another just slightly below the 50th centile. General agreement is that the 80th centile scan was measured wrong, but I asked about the last scan and they got the doctor on the phone after he came out of theatre to check and he/she recommended induction at due date. I'm not happy as there were no problems showing on the scan with placenta, hb and monitoring shows she is happy. I had a sweep the same day as the scan and cervix is still closed, thick and posterior, so obviously not ready yet. I can't see that changing in 4-5 days, so induction could be more difficult and I'm worried about causing baby distress and everything ending in a section/forceps/epidural. This is my 4th baby and all 3 other births have been straightforward and normal. Is there anything I can do do you think?

@Hotpinkangel19 of course you don't have to have induction! All your reasons are completely valid. Maybe you could ask for a meeting with the consultant midwife to help you achieve a more straightforward birth? It sounds like you know your stuff & your body, so let that empower you to make your own decision! (It's not up to the doctor).

You can request to not be induced they just have to monitor you daily if you choose not to. I went to 14days with no2.
My measurements have never been correct so I’m not sure I’d worry too much about it.
Have u tried bumpy journeys, sex, pineapple, curry and nipple stimulation to kick things off?

Been having period type cramps in my lower back for the past hour & 1/2 now, there coming every 15 mins I'd say, not sure if it's the start of something, I really hope it is!! Wishful thinking though probably as only 37+2

@gemxo got to say, period type cramps described my early contractions. But it took 36 hours for me to get from that every 8 mins to 9cm so my (vast, of course) experience says keep eating, sleeping and drinking! It could be a good while yet...

Well ladies, this will be my last post until our little lady arrives. I’m 42 yrs old, a FTM & cannot wait to meet our very much wanted daughter (IVF rollercoaster journey). I’m exactly 39 Weeks tomorrow and will be getting induced...My Birth Plan = ‘Will go with the flow’ & ‘Roll with it’...as long as she gets here safely that’s all I care about. Feeling a bit nervous but excited too...I just cannot believe she is going to be here soon, so I guess the heartburn, Horrendous SPD/PGP, waddling duck impressions, insomnia and Sciatica have been worth it. All those due in the next couple of days, I wish each of you the best of luck 🍀 and look forward to reading your announcements. Any tips/advice on how to handle being induced then DO let me know!!! I'm going to ask for an extra 7 days to allow her to come by herself. I'm not sure they'll allow it but I'm going to ask my midwife tomorrow

The only advice I can give about being induced (or tbh, being in labour in general!) is listen to what your body is telling you. If you need pain relief, take it. Looking forward to hearing your announcement.
