@Waitingonasmile I’m planning to just bring normal pjs, a few vest tops, a couple of thin baggy jumpers and maternity leggings, plus thick socks and cosy slippers. I always get cold at my particular hospital so I want to be nice and warm.

@cheshiremama89 I get 3 months at 90% then 6 months smp.

Mummyme87 · 16/12/2017 16:26

Normal pjs. Primark do cheap stretchy ones. Have some nursing camisoles also

katmarie · 16/12/2017 20:47

I've got a couple of long shirt nighties, and some maternity leggings and long vest tops, basically what I've been wearing the last couple of months. All my non pregnant clothes are boxed up in the loft at the moment so all I have is maternity stuff!

Usernamegone · 16/12/2017 21:55

Urgh! Went out for a meal earlier and finished eating by 5pm. Just started coughing and my heartburn was really bad so I threw up in the toilet several times Sad

Waitingonasmile · 16/12/2017 22:06

Thank for suggestions! I have gone with a strappymaternity nightie that should be good for either elcs or vbac, maternity pj set, slippers, lots of full briefs, maternity leggings and tunic top or loose fitting top to go home in. I know it's pathetic and vain but I hate how pregnant you still look after the birth.

@Usernamegone oh no that's horrible!

Mummyme87 · 16/12/2017 22:14

Leggings are the way forward. Last time I had nightie and leggings on. Have bought an extra this time

PurplePoppySeed · 16/12/2017 23:18

@cheshiremama89 it really is and if done right it's worth it for the company as it keeps staff loyal! I wanted to go back as I felt valued, this time I'm part of mgmt so again plan to go back PT and be a working mum to inspire others to see it's possible in consulting!

They've also started a returners programme for ppl who've been out for 2+ years which is another great step. Can't wait for this to become the norm - until it does we'll never have true diversity at mgmt level in the workplace Hmm

Ruthcarr1990 · 17/12/2017 10:24

@Waitingonasmile it must be a weekend for it Im going to get my last bits today and get it packed.

I’ve got pjs from primary that we’re reduced down to £5 a pair- not spending a fortune on them for them to get covered in all kinds, as for going home....I’m going home in my pjs and uggs. I will then live in them for about a week (not the same pair obvs)

Dreading after, my partner has only just informed me he can only take 3 days holiday when little man arrives as he swapped jobs in sept.

Xxx

Maybebaby2 · 17/12/2017 12:17

I'm packing today too. Only thing I hadn't considered was what I will wear if I manage to get in a birthing pool. Ended up trying on old bikinis I already had and found one that just about fit! Im sure it wont stay on very long anyway! What are others taking to wear in birth pool?

Maybebaby2 · 17/12/2017 12:26

Also, those planning to breastfeed are you packing breast pump and bottles just in case there are any problems?

Mummyme87 · 17/12/2017 13:12

No your hospital will have breast pumps and you tend not to sue them until milk comes in anyway which is day 3ish... if there was problems you would be encouraged to hand express into syringes.
I don’t have bottles or formula as will only get if I absolutely need them

Maybebaby2 · 17/12/2017 14:10

Thanks @Mummyme87, that's great means less to pack. I've not got any formula but did get a breast pump, bottle and sterilizer set as I think I will end up using expressed milk as well as breast feeding. I think it will help me to breast feed for longer, judging from my previous experience.

Waitingonasmile · 17/12/2017 15:12

Oh my goodness the pressure and random pains down low are horrendous. It makes my toes clench. Definite benefit of DS1 arriving early was that I missed all this. I don't even think the head is engaged yet so I dread to think what that'll feel like. Confused

ElleMcElle · 17/12/2017 18:17

@Mummyme87 - Thank you! Midwife at hospital said the same - no reason for me to stay hooked up to a drip and I can still use birth pool etc. Do you know if cannula is likely to stay in my hand (so I'd presumably need to keep it out of water??) or if they'll remove and fit a new one each time I have the antibiotics?

Hospital bag finally packed - my packing seems modest compared to some lists I've seen online, but it seems a LOT! One medium suitcase (not huge - but definitely bigger than carry on luggage) plus a carry-on size holdall... How much is everyone else taking?

hodgeheg92 · 17/12/2017 19:54

@maybebaby2 I'm not taking any swim wear, figured I'll just get in the pool in my Nightie if I even want anything on. I'm taking a 4 pack of ready made formula just in case.

@ElleMcElle I finished mine today too! And then went through it all with my DH so he knows where everything is! I've got 2 carry-on size suitcases and a rucksack with just labour stuff in (Lucozade, Headband etc)

millsbynight · 17/12/2017 20:37

@ElleMcElle I have one carry-on luggage sized suitcase and a large handbag. No way am I faffing around with loads of stuff unnecessarily. These days women are discharged after 6 hours!

OP posts:
Mummyme87 · 17/12/2017 21:44

elle no you will have one cannula and it will stay in until finished with. You can put a glove on to help protect it from water, but yes need to try and keep it out

Owl1011 · 17/12/2017 22:26

I've also packed my hospital bag (35 weeks today) and it's a small hold-all and using the changing bag rucksack we've bought for baby. Doesn't feel like we've got a great amount but I've packed a spare bag for he car with some extras. I've also got a small hessian bag with some drinks and snacks but not sure how much I'll be using that!

Waitingonasmile · 18/12/2017 08:12

I had cramping, pains and tightenings all through the night. It's not that unusual but before it's always gone by the morning. This morning I've had horrible period cramps since waking up and it's not stopped.

I would be absolutely gutted if this is the start of anything as DH not due home until 3rd January. This baby just can't come out until then Sad!!!!!! Hopefully it's just an upset stomach/stretching pains and will go away eventually as usual.

Mummyme87 · 18/12/2017 08:18

Hopefully it’s nothing waiting paracetamol and have a bath lovely

I’m 36weeks today. I woke up in the night to painful tightenings and had a small panic, walked it off and all good now 👍

I’ve dumped some stuff in an emergency bag but haven’t picked my bag yet. The bag I will use we need for travelling next week. Will pack properly at 38weeks

Maybebaby2 · 18/12/2017 09:46

@hodgeheg92 yeah I thought about wearing nighty in the pool but I don't think I'd like the feeling of the wet material. I doubt I'll have anything on at all after 5 mins anyway 😂 I'll have a look at ready made might be handy to have just in case I can't breastfeed at all.

@Owl1011 I'm the same as you got one small hold all and using the baby's pram bag for all her bits.

To save space I'll be arriving and leaving hospital in same clothes (clean underwear obvs!) leggings and t-shirt, comfort is key! 😀

@Waitingonasmile I had this last week, lay awake all night thinking this might be it but it was gone by the morning. I would echo @Mummyme87 and say get a bath, try and relax and hopefully it will ease off for you x

stripeysocks3 · 18/12/2017 10:00

Hello! I'm 38 weeks and I have the most pathetic and vain question to ask Blush my midwife likes to call back after a week so I'm hoping someone can help and not call me ridiculous! I'm having a facial done this week which usually means lying on my back for around 1 hour - 1.25 hours. Will this cause damage and put me at risk of stillbirth? Should I request to stand up half way and have a walk about or will I be ok for a short while? Everything online just seems to be advice on not sleeping on back so not entirely sure how long it's 'safe' to be on back for! Thank you so much if anyone can help out Grin

millsbynight · 18/12/2017 10:24

@stripeysocks3 could they not fold up the bed slightly so you’re not completely flat on your back?

I know a lot of beauticians and masseuses beds have the ability to fold.

OP posts:
ForumUsername · 18/12/2017 10:30

@stripeysocks3 when I've gotten facials they usually put the bed at a slight angle
Then higher when I'm left for the relaxing mask bit

I was so happy I didn't have much swelling at all
But my rings stopped fitting last week and now I've noticed my feet are a little swollen today
Going to take the advice some gave earlier on calling the Physio as my wrists and fingers are getting sorer every day
Think it is carpel tunnel, anyone had it before? Will it go quickly after baby born? My wrists are so sore in the morning I'd be worried holding a new born

stripeysocks3 · 18/12/2017 10:44

@millsbynight @ForumUsername I'll ask! I think its just because every other time I've been it's been flat I'm worried she won't change it!
