Hi all

I just wanted to say thanks to all for sharing your stories it is really helpful to feel that there other people out there having the same experience.

I am 16 + 5 and going in for my stitch on Tuesday after my 16w scan at the preterm clinic showed my cervix to be 21mm no funnelling. I had had LLETZ procedure 10 years ago which I was referred.

I am really apprehensive about the whole procedure, the monitoring after and finding it hard to keep positive but the stories on here have helped Smile

CremeDeSudo · 26/02/2018 12:08

Hi @GJ

Good luck for tomorrow! You'll be fine. I had minor cramping and a little bit of back ache after mine. The worst bit was waiting to be able to pee again!

I won't lie, I've been very up and down post procedure. It's really hard to stay positive. To be honest, I've found the best thing to do is just not think about it (which is obviously easier said than done). I'm doing amazingly at some of the games on my phone Grin

Please let us know how it went and join us in the club!

BrewCakeBiscuit for post op tomorrow Smile xx

GJ167 · 28/02/2018 20:22

Well everything seems to have gone well and I have an appointment with the preterm clinic on the same day as my 20w scan in 3 weeks time. No real pain apart from my back as there were a few complications with the spinal anaesthesia and I resemble a human pin cushion.

Working from home for the next 2 weeks to make sure I have a bit of a rest and then back to “normal” not much of a problem of me not doing high impact exercise it did not feature in my life in the first place!

Fingers crossed that everything will be fine in 3 weeks

CremeDeSudo · 01/03/2018 22:08

I've stopped getting email alerts for some reason..

Glad to hear it all went well. I was dreading the spinal, but it fairness it wasn't as bad as I'd thought.

I haven't struggled with the lack of high impact activity either strangely enough Grin

CremeDeSudo · 12/03/2018 13:17

So I've reached 23 weeks! Milestone 1 achieved! Am feeling a lot more positive now, and that I might actually be able to do this. Only 5 weeks 'til I'm allowed to buy things, hurrah!

Next milestone is 26 weeks when I have my steroid shots. Smile

GJ167 · 12/03/2018 18:06

Happy days Smile really glad everything is going well. 19 weeks for me tomorrow!

CremeDeSudo · 12/03/2018 21:34

Thanks GJ Smile all ok with your stitch so far? How long til your follow up?

HoneyCake86 · 18/03/2018 18:50

Oooh just spotted this thread! Im 11 +4 and have a shorter cervix after lletz 2 years ago. Waiting to have cervix scans along with my 12 wk scan and again at 16 weeks, the results i guess will determine whether i need a stitch put in or not.

What is this stitch like? Does it hurt to have it put in ?

HoneyCake86 · 18/03/2018 18:52

Also i had a mc in december but i dont think its related to this as it was pretty early. Ive had cramps but no bleeding so far (touch wood!)

CremeDeSudo · 18/03/2018 19:10

Hi Honeycake, welcome! Nice to have another member to the club!

When will you get your scan? Has your hospital been proactive following your LLETZ? I've read that a lot of women haven't even been made aware there's a risk post LLETZ. I think I've been quite lucky in that respect.

Having the stitch in was fine. The spinal wasn't the nicest but wasn't at all as bad as I was expecting. I asked for something to keep me calm as well as I was worried about the procedure. The worst bit was needing a wee after - I didn't know what it was as initially and had an awful pain in my bladder. Turned out I needed a wee that just kept going. Proper comedy wee 😁 I was kept in overnight but had minimal bleeding and just some period pain type cramping the following day. I was signed off for a fortnight but would've been fine after 3 or 4 days I think! Xx

GJ167 · 20/03/2018 15:47

Welcome Honeycake just thought I would add my experience. Getting the stitch out in was ok, a little uncomfortable but that was it. The worst bit for me was the spinal but the had a nightmare getting it in. I was in overnight and the catheter was a little uncomfortable. I was off for a week and have been working at home for the last two weeks until my follow up at 20+2 on Thursday.

AmyLou14 · 22/03/2018 14:12

Hi all looking for some advice. This is my 1st pregnancy and I’m 17 weeks today. I had a cervical scan yesterday as I have had 3 lletz procedures. My cervix measured 22mm, which the consultant said was short and that they would rescan next week to establish if it was shortening or stable at 22mm. I have been online all night and lots of people seem to have had a stitch placed when cervix is this length. I’m now so paranoid I don’t know if I can wait a week for a review and even if it is stable at 22mm, think I want a stitch. I’m just so frightened that something could go drastically wrong and I wouldn’t know until it was too late.

CremeDeSudo · 22/03/2018 17:45

Hi AmyLou

I believe anything less than 25mm is considered and requires a stitch. Can you get a second opinion?

LLETZ procedures are known to cause cervical weakness so they should be being proactive.

Please ask if any more questions! I can also recommend the Incompetent Cervix UK Facebook group. Lots of knowledgeable ladies on there.

Congratulations on your pregnancy 😊 xx

AmyLou14 · 22/03/2018 18:36

Could you share the Facebook group details please?

Thanks

CremeDeSudo · 22/03/2018 19:03

Just search Incompetent Cervix UK. You'll find it xx

BarryTheKestrel · 24/03/2018 11:44

Hi ladies

Hope you don't mind me jumping in. I'm 11+1 at the moment with dc2. I wasn't even aware of the issues lletz can cause until Thursday evening when I panic texted my midwife, who I had told my history to at my booking appointment but she didn't mention anything then. She's now said she'll be referring me to a consultant due to 2 Lletz procedures in 2016, after DC1 was born due to CIN III being found on my first smear.
I'm now worried that this hasn't been picked up earlier as from what I gather the earlier the better in terms of figuring out if there is an issue or not.

There is a chance that there won't be an issue at all, however given my awful luck I'm not hopeful.

I have my dating scan on Thursday, do they check cervix length as standard at these scans anyway? Or am I just stuck waiting for my consultant appointment to arrive?

CremeDeSudo · 24/03/2018 19:55

Hi Barry, welcome!

No I don't believe your cervix would be checked unless specifically needed. I had mine checked by the consultant who carried out my biopsy when I was 9wks. From reading around I gather I've been looked after very well.

I hope it all goes ok! Keep us posted Smile xx

CremeDeSudo · 24/03/2018 19:56

Try and push for your check asap as if you need a stitch, the sooner the better! X

BarryTheKestrel · 24/03/2018 20:35

I'll be 12 weeks on Friday so if I haven't had my appointment letter by the end of the week I'll call my midwife and chase the referral.
I've only really had 2 days to get my head around the potential of an issue and I've been doing a lot of online reading. It's both reassuring and petrifying at the same time.

CremeDeSudo · 24/03/2018 21:07

Yes I agree. Lots of stories either way. Once you've been checked at least you'll know and have a plan going forward. I believe LLETZ procedures carry less risk than if you'd had a biopsy so there's a good chance you'll be fine and it'll just be additional monitoring x

Paranormalbouquet · 29/03/2018 07:28

@CremeDeSudo I’m delighted to see you are doing so well. I’m going a bit mad waiting on my TAC- hoping to get a date soon, looks like will be in May but I’ll take a cancellation if I can get it!

Had pre-procedure colposcopy this week (as they can do lletz/come biopsy at same time as TAC if needed but colposcopist is pretty confident it’s just scar tissue they’ve been worried about. He’s taken a load more biopsies anyway. Seeing recurrent miscarriage clinic and TAC team today to hopefully get officially ok’d for the procedure.

CremeDeSudo · 29/03/2018 08:48

Welcome back @Paranormalbouquet! All sounding very positive and like you have a plan. Keeping my fingers crossed for you today. Can't see how they could say no to you! How long 'til you can start trying again after you've had the TAC in?

I'm 25+4 now Grin Steroid shots are booked in for Tuesday and Wednesday next week and only 2.5weeks 'til I can buy things and really accept it's happening!

I had my consultant appt on Monday last week and she checked the stitch via the ulstrasound (despite the other consultant telling me that absolutely wouldn't happen!) and said it was all still holding and looking good. For some reason she also needed to exclaim 'goodness it was lucky we got it in when we did wasn't it, you've got no cervix there at all'. Yes, thanks for reminding me!! Next one is at 28wks on 16th April. Smile

Paranormalbouquet · 29/03/2018 10:39

@CremeDeSudo every day from here on is good for you.

I’ll need adhesions removed at same time so think I’ll need to wait a cycle or two. Sigh. Sometimes I wonder why I’m bothering with TAC since I keep miscarrying in the first trimester but if I can get past it I know I’ll be frantic without.

Paranormalbouquet · 29/03/2018 10:49

Cervix was still

CremeDeSudo · 31/03/2018 20:13

@Paranormal what was the verdict after? X
