14mm at longest measure. TAC hopefully in May, had my pre-op assessment done so just waiting on a date. Feels like forever away even though I know it’s not long!

CremeDeSudo · 31/03/2018 21:54

Yes May feels forever away to me too but for different reasons! I have Easter Egg hunts keeping me occupied atm though lol

Not much longer. TAC sounds like a v reassuring option though I think? Less scary during pregnancy than the TVC, initial op aside.

HoneyCake86 · 01/04/2018 13:44

Hi :) just popping my head in again been busy (and very sick). Had my cervical scan last week (13weeks) and at the moment, its about 4cm long. The sonographer didnt really know what that meant in terms of desirability so any clue? Is that a pretty good length at this stage do you think?

Paranormalbouquet · 01/04/2018 13:47

@CremeDeSudo it will be reassuring if I can get past the first trimester. Since I can’t seem to right now who knows.

@HoneyCake86 4cm sounds amazing to me! Mine is 14-16mm even before pregnancy and I haven’t had a lletz!

CremeDeSudo · 01/04/2018 14:04

@Paranormal was anything said about that? My sister swears by baby aspirin for early MC's- do some research on that though, don't take my word for it!

@honey 4cm is amazing! Anything under 2.5cm is considered a concern

26wks today! Woop woop! 😁

Paranormalbouquet · 03/04/2018 21:37

Got a call today asking if I could go in as a cancellation on Friday- but I'm away for easter sadly! So have 4th of May which is at least only a few weeks away.

CremeDeSudo · 04/04/2018 11:48

Sods law! Maybe they'll have another cancellation and you can nip in Wink

So I've just had my second lot of steroids- milestone 2 check! Bloody hurt mind you. Couldn't sleep last night and having hot flushes. Glad they're done though! Next milestone 28wks and shopping time! Grin

Am a bit annoyed with my Mum atm as I'd told her not to buy anything until 28wks and she told me Sat she'd got an outfit. I told her I didn't want to know as I didn't want to tempt fate in any way. I'm not usually superstitious but I just feel like I don't want to take the risk!

Paranormalbouquet · 04/04/2018 14:59

You are getting there! I’m the same re outfits etc, although it really can’t do any harm as you know!

I’m ok with May 4th, gives me time to organise work etc.

DonaldsTrump · 11/04/2018 14:55

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to stop lurking and say hi, i have an incompetent cervix diagnosed during my first pregnancy when I had an emergency cerclage at 22 weeks. Am so so lucky that all went well and had to be induced at 40 weeks so the cerclage definitely did it’s job! I’m now 23 weeks with the second and I had a preventative cervlage at 16 weeks. They’ve been checking the length and it’s gone down to 1.5cm with funneling. So having another check today and if it’s lower again I will have another cervlage. Weirdly feeling more calm in this pregnancy - possibly because looking after my 3 year old keeps me from having too much time to worry about everything this time! Good luck to everyone, it’s nice to know there are others in the same boat.

CremeDeSudo · 11/04/2018 21:38

Welcome! Nice to have someone here with a positive story to share Smile how did your check go after?

I agree that having another DC makes this one go quicker- no time for moping around!

Had a bit of a rubbish day here - something has twinged in my back and not seeing the chiro til Friday and I think my bump has grown again as I've got that stretched out, pressure in the stomach feeling. Today is also a year since my Dad passed away so it's been fairly crap all round Sad

On the upside I'm very excited to start shopping when I get to 28wks on Sunday Grin and next consultant appt is Monday. Not sure what my next milestone should be after that? I'm thinking maybe just getting to May!

Hope everyone doing ok and Paranormal you're either still enjoying your hols or have had a lovely time! X

Fayeann90 · 12/04/2018 17:36

Hi All,

New to this thread!

I lost my first baby boy at 19 weeks when my waters broke painlessly and unexpectedly at 18 weeks 5 days.

I am now 17 weeks today with a baby girl! I had a cervical length scan Tuesday 10th April where my cervix was closed but measured at 2.2cm which I know is stupidly short for 16 weeks pregnant, my cervical stitch is booked in for next Wednesday. it just seems to long to wait and I'm scared something is going to go wrong in the next few days, the doctor promised me that because there is no funnelling at the moment it should all be fine.
I'm so scared I've booked a private scan at mothercare Saturday just so I can see if it has shortened anymore in the last few days - I'm sending myself crazy!! I can't lose another baby!

Has anyone got any good experiences where even though their cervix was short it was ok because there was no funnelling?

I'm working at my desk job but trying to keep my legs elevated most of the time and when I just get home I just go lie down in bed straight away.. life isn't much fun at the moment!

DonaldsTrump · 14/04/2018 12:43

Thanks CremeDeSudo, sorry you were having a crappy day but so happy for you that you are almost at 28 weeks! To me that is past the most scary stage, every day, every week now things get better and better!

My check up showed cervix has U-shaped funneling but is thankfully closed and the length is stable at around 1.5cm. So the doctor is happy to leave it so no second stitch! Not sure whether to be pleased or not, am obviously glad it wasn't in a worse state but I had got used to the idea of having another stitch as a backup to the first. But I guess the stitch is doing what its supposed to - keeping the cervix closed so the shape and length are of less relevance.

Fayeann90 - i'm so sorry for your previous loss. Hey 2.2cm doesn't sound bad to me at all but then I don't think mine's ever had a reading above that! So I think your situation sounds pretty ok, no funneling is a very good sign. And a preventative stitch is a whole different situation to an emergency one - they're doing it now while your cervix is in good shape. Try to keep your mind busy between now and Wednesday!

CremeDeSudo · 17/04/2018 10:15

Hi @Fayeann90 and Welcome Smile

I can't help with that one I'm afraid, as my reason for having a stitch is different to yours, so no experience of funnelling. I'd recommend the Incompetent Cervix UK support group though. Lots of very supportive and knowledgeable ladies. Is everything still OK? Hope you're all prepared for tomorrow!

@DonaldsTrump Sounds good! I've read that second stitches don't necessarily do that much so probably just as well you don't have to have more surgery anyway.

I had my 28wk appt yesterday and my consultant confirmed my stitch is still looking good and baby's growing well. She said she's hopeful I'll make it to 34weeks and will be delighted for me if I do, and every day thereafter is a bonus. It was nice to hear such encouraging words from her! I've also got my section date on the off-chance I make it - 2nd July! The day after DS's birthday Smile So I'm looking at a maximum of 11wks! All a bit real and scary now! Grin

Paranormalbouquet · 20/04/2018 16:00

@CremeDeSudo glad you are doing so well.

I appear to have had a condom failure. Not sure how it's happened (we were really careful, and didn't even have much sex) but I'm almost a week late and bought a first response today. Not sure why I bothered spending so much on it when the test line is about 3 times darker than control.

Bloody terrified now. Feel like I'm just waiting on a disaster!

CremeDeSudo · 20/04/2018 16:03

Bloody hell! Well I hear they can do TAC 's before 15wks? Better get a move on! X

Paranormalbouquet · 20/04/2018 16:08

I'm so shocked. Honestly. I'll see if I can get scanned at 6 weeks before calling anyone I think. No point if it's not viable.

CremeDeSudo · 20/04/2018 19:13

How many weeks d'you think you are then?

At least you're already in the system so fingers crossed it'll be fine to get sorted early.

Congratulations!!

Paranormalbouquet · 20/04/2018 19:22

Probably just short of 5 weeks. Early days.

Paranormalbouquet · 24/04/2018 19:12

Have an appointment for May 16th to discuss things. Seems like ages away!

CremeDeSudo · 24/04/2018 19:34

What happened to your 4th May appt?

I set my work calendar up today to say I'm on mat leave from end of May 😁 4.5wks to go!!

Paranormalbouquet · 24/04/2018 19:51

May 4th is my surgery date- they definitely won’t do it at 6 weeks, they’ll want to see a viable pregnancy first I think. Which given my recent history seems unlikely.

Wow you’ll be on leave before you know it!

Eh3sw12 · 24/04/2018 19:59

Hi all
Hope you don't mind me jumping into this thread! I had a stitch at 18 weeks after a scan showed a very short cervix at 16 weeks. This was caused by a coupe of lletz procedures I had a few years ago. I've been at home on rest since. I just wondered what you had all been advised to do in terms of rest/what to avoid etc etc as from what I can read online it seems to vary a lot by doctor! Also, has anyone had any scans since their procedure? I haven't been offered any.
Thanks

CremeDeSudo · 24/04/2018 20:00

Oh I see. That's frustrating though! I really hope it all works out for you this time. I have everything crossed for you!

Paranormalbouquet · 25/04/2018 09:33

I’m still so very shocked at a contraception failure! I admit to usually thinking people only pretend that contraception has failed but really they didn’t use it properly, but we really did! And as DH was away with work for a lot of the month there wasn’t even much action!

Eh3sw12 welcome! I haven’t had a stitch yet but @CremeDeSudo might be able to help. I understand that there is no evidence that bedrest helps but as you say varies between doctors.

CremeDeSudo · 25/04/2018 09:54

Hi @Eh3sw12 , welcome!

I had my stitch @ 13weeks due to Lletz and cone biopsies last year. Currently 29+3. I was signed off work for 2 weeks and told to take it easy. Beyond that my only restriction has been no sex and to 'be sensible' ie, no running or anything that might put unnecessary strain on the stitch. My consultant told me there was no evidence to say that bed rest helped, however I'm on a Facebook support group (Incompetent Cervix UK - worth joining) and there are women on there who weren't able to have a stitch, and credit bedrest with making it through pregnancy.

Personally, I've just taken it as easy as possible. Minimal time on my feet, no baths/swimming, no sex or orgasms (feeling this one now mind you!). I have a 4.5yr old and a commute to work around!

With scans, I was told I wouldn't get any, however I've been attending my consultant-led appts with the Dr who placed the stitch and when she's checked the baby and has also checked my stitch at the same time. The other consultant I've seen didn't do this however, so I've insisted on seeing 'my' Dr at every appt since!

@Paranormalbouquet Yes I must admit I'm always a bit Hmm at these stories too Grin. Congratulations again though! I'm jealous of your minimal action. Last time for me was the night before my stitch went in...16wks and counting. As the no orgasm thing is self imposed I'm wondering when to lift it! I've read that orgasms cause the cervix to contract (which is why you're more likely to conceive if you orgasm), which is why it seemed sensible to avoid it!
