Sorry, didn't mean to make you worry. I'm sure it's just baby settling into a comfy position. Does feel like this is all getting real but then I'm full term in 8.5 weeks, doesn't feel that far away!!!

That's ok, you're not making me worry any more than I'm already doing! I'm trying to stay calm about it for now, but I've spent so long trying to prepare mentally for a january birth (based on first babies normally being late) that this has made me realise that actually, babies can come at any time, especially once over 35 weeks, so we could have a pre-xmas baby afterall! It's so hard to prepare mentally for an unkown date!!

I think that's the hardest thing about having a baby (that & the constant worry). With my DS his EDD was mid April. For some reason I was convinced he was going to be early but kept being told it was first baby & he'd be late. He arrived mid March. My friend was due same date 2 years later & had her baby beginning of May. No one knows & its so hard planning & being organised for something that's happening but you don't know when.

Yes I agree .. and it really doesn't help (esp to a first time mum) when people talk as though their experience was gospel. My mum, she's normally very helpful, was particularly unhelpful with that as she kept telling me that DD will be overdue as I was overdue and had to be induced at 41wks (I am the eldest) and my siblings were all late. I was so convinced that it was a hereditary thing (it's not), I planned my maternity leave for 38 wks but waters broke and DD arrived a week earlier. I was so unprepared. And to put paid to her hereditary theory, my sister's baby came before EDD as well. haha.

Btw, has anyone bought a maternity coat and where from? or not bothering and trying to make do? I don't think I can make do with existing coat as at the moment I can only do up the first two buttons. it does seem like quite a lot of money to be spending on something I'll use for a few months only. Hmm

I had just started researching mat costs. I stood outside DSs nursery earlier this week freezing. My coat doesn't do up & I was wondering about that. I had thought about looking for a good one eBay or just biting the bullet & buying one. Might have to invest. Could be a long cold winter otherwise!

Bella how exciting for the engaged head! Though I can imagine how nerve wracking that can be, I'm sure it doesn't mean arrival is imminent. Don't you find that the midwives/sonographers tend to just slip little bits of information in and act like it's absolutely nothing and then when you get home and Google you find that it most certainly is not nothing! This happens to me nearly every time I go. Don't they know what they're doing to us!

I've been wondering about coats too, I've decided to try and make do for as long as possible, with the use of big scarves down my front and hats and gloves. If winter is going to be anything like last year (not very cold) I might get away with it but judging by the weather so far I'm not sure. Might end up with one.

stealthbanana · 14/10/2016 07:49

I'm thinking about a coat, but keep going back and forth - as you say, it does seem like a bit of a waste. But on the other hand I don't want to be cold! I was thinking of maybe just buying a Uniqlo down jacket in a huge size and using that? Not sure!

Report
Bella1985 · 14/10/2016 08:19

Same here for the coat. I started looking online for one then thought 'sod it' I've got loads of scarves, I just won't close the coat. It's one size too big for me anyway so fits around everywhere else, just not the front. Will see how long I hold out...!

colonol I know! I probably shouldn't read my mat notes after each visit as I get myself in a spin everytime I google what she's written down!

I like this Jojo Maman Bebe coat. I think it's so smart they have a removable panel. I thought I maybe should get one now otherwise I won't be getting much mileage from my purchase, esp if baby comes in early December. I read that it'd probably be useful if I use a sling, although jury is out on that one as I never got on with the sling with DD.

It's Friday, yay!. I am going to a nearly new sale this weekend, I haven't been to one for ages. Thought I'd pick up some stuff for baby, e.g a snowsuit / pramsuit which I do not have as DD was a summer baby. what are your weekend plans?

Oh god. The pregnancy hormones have hit! I made an insensitive comment to a close friend lastnight then spent the evening in tears. Got so angry at my DS trying to get him ready for nursery this morning as he refused to get dressed (or do anything I needed him to). He then proceeded to do a poo in his pants once I'd got in the shower (daddy was watching him). Then he cried as I left him in nursery & I cried all the way home. Feel like iv spent the last 24 hours either in tears or fuming! DS & DH are trying to keep a low profile I think!!! Iv been ok up to this point.

That coat looks really nice Lucy. I'm hoping to use my caboo as DS loved it. I'm hoping it'll give me free hands to carry on playing etc with DS & meaning less buggy use. My only worry is that being really short (5ft 2 at a push). I worry I'll drown in a coat like that.

Oh no emz poor you, hormones are such a pain.

That coat looks nice lucy - will keep the link for when I give in and go looking for a maternity coat!!

Heading to a nearly new sale on Sunday too so hope to get a few more bits. DH is working tomorrow so will go to Aldi to take a look at their nappies. I need to get some size 1s for the hospital bag...

Thank god it's Friday, it's been one heck of a long week. Hoping to get some rest this weekend! Hope you all have good weekends Smile

Wow on the engaged head Bella, hope it just means everything is in the right position rather than ready to arrive!

I hope you calm down Emz, I find myself more unstable on Fridays and far more liable to go over the edge into meltdown mode. I think it's tiredness related. I nearly cried in the toilet at work today when I couldn't get toilet paper out of the dispenser (the dispenser was jammed full and I could just get shreds out!!)

Have fun at the nearly new sale Lucy! Hope you manage to get some bargains!!

I bought a maternity coat from Vertbaubet it was reduced in the summer sale (£25) and is certainly warm: m.vertbaudet.co.uk/Navigation/Produit/001000021?type=Boutique&fc=6559&bid=1194&semid=1194&endecaShopId=4294949300#jdywtzBtv6MtV0jZ.97 . As I get the train to work and often have to wait in the cold for a train l decided to invest in a winter coat!

Thanks guys. So nice to be able to rant on here & not be judged. Not sure DH knows how to handle me! I'd definitely have been in tears about the dispenser. I seem really clumsy at the moment, not sure if that's just me or if it's pregnancy related. Limbs seems longer & uncontrollable. Nearly new sale sounds like a great idea. We will be finishing DSs room tomorrow & hopefully moving him in. Then I can start nesting! Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Morning ladies. Awake at 05:40 this morning for no apparent reason 😬
Amazing that the head is engaged already Bella! My little one is still doing somersaults 24/7, he doesn't stop!
I don't think I'll bother with a maternity coat. I'm not a freezer and I drive to work so I don't really bother with a coat until it gets really cold anyway. I'll manage with lots of layers, leaving my normal coats open, gilets and ponchos/wraps. I did see this in Next though that has the removal panel www.next.co.uk/go25504s4?dclid=CL7Hi8yF3M8CFSUD0wodUdoEKw
Someone on another thread also mentioned a website called makemybellyfit that does similar.
Had a letter yesterday to say that my haemoglobin is low and my ferritin very low (anyone know the difference??). Need to go get myself a prescription for some iron tablets next week. I'm veggie and have been anaemic in the past so it's not really surprising, it explains why I've been so out of breath lately though!!
Hope everyone is feeling well and has a good weekend. We're off to a good festival later, got a couple of hours to kill before DH even wakes up though! Have a good weekend all.

Report
Emz32 · 15/10/2016 09:51

Hope you get the tablets & they make you feel better Happy. Enjoy the festival. I'm watching Thomas the tank with DS who's all coldy & waiting for DH to get out of bed!! Been awake since 7.

Bella1985 · 15/10/2016 10:56

Enjoy the festival happylass! I hadn't realised that my breathlessness was a sign of low iron so it will be good if that improves with the tablets. No idea the difference between haemoglobin and ferritin sorry, MW just told me hb was borderline.

I'm back to sleeping an average of 1.5hrs at a time. I'm peeing or turning so often during the night, I'm absolutely shattered. Luckily I have no DCs vying for my attention so I can rest and DH is really understanding. A colleague who struggles with sleep announced yesterday that she'd had 5hrs sleep and I congratulated her! Everyone around me just stopped to stare and it took me a few seconds to realise that 5hrs for her was bad! I used to be a 9hr sleep kind of person too...

That was meant to say food festival, not good!!
Bella that must be so tough. I'm waking early since pg but at least I'm getting at least 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep beforehand. I also have a little power hour when I get in from work to top up! Good that you can get some rest in the day.
I don't know if it's psychological because I now know I'm anaemic but I've been feeling so wiped out the last few days. Even climbing the stairs is a struggle 😩. Still only 1 week left before half term. I'm almost there!

Bella1985 · 16/10/2016 19:55

Oooh 1 week till half term - you haven't got long to go! Work is always quieter during half term as so many book it off to be with their kids so that will be a nice week in the office too!

Bella I hope you get more sleep soon. At least you know the reason for needing to pee & it's not a UTI.

On a different subject, has anyone's belly button popped out? Mine didn't with my son but got close at 35 weeks when he was born. Mine is getting close again now but not quite there. Kinda freaks me out!

Bella1985 · 16/10/2016 22:45

Yes emz mine is nearly there! It's so bizzarre! It has been close for weeks though so I don't know if it will actually pop out or not. I suppose it has plenty of time to go...

Yep my belly button popped ages ago! And I'm starting to get the linea negra - it's very faint but coming up. The oddities never stop!

Hope everyone had good weekends. I spent mine on the beach in Spain - bliss to have some sunshine and warmth!

Report
colonolthirteen · 17/10/2016 08:41

Oh stealth, sounds lovely, I love the idea of sun tanning the bump!

My belly button has been nearly out for ages but hasn't gone yet, weirdly though I dreamt it popped out. I've been having really odd dreams lately. Last night I dreamt I somehow decapitated DH. Not sure what to make of that one.

I'm also starting to get the linea negra. I also get really intense pains around my pubic bone down the inside of my legs whenever I do too much like too much brisk walking or gardening. Is anyone else having this? It's been happening for ages now.

Anyway, happy Monday all!

Very envious Stealth. I spent Sunday in a rainy park & would have loved a beach & some warmth!! I haven't noticed the line but I didn't have it last time. My belly button threatens to pop & then recedes a bit. Hoping it stays put. Itll be so exciting when everyone starts having their babies & updating this group.
