Who's recently found out they're preggers?

Hi, Apologies if there is a similar thread of a Jan babies one. Just thought I'd see who else is out there.

I found out I was pregnant just over a week ago, saw GP on Thursday and I'm booked in for an early scan next Friday (as I was on Clomid).

So far, my dates put me as 5 weeks + 3 days and due Jan 14th. What about you lot?

I have to say I'm not feeling all that pregnant at the moment, I'm sure that will change, but hopefully the sickness won't come my way (other than a small amount of nausea I've had a couple of mornings).

So tell me about you, when/how did you find out, how long had you been trying, how are you feeling, when will you tell people etc etc!!!!

Definitely not demurely! Stupid predictive text!

Hi all,

How is everyone feeling? I'm at the strong smells, nausea, hit by a bus, still gleefully excited, occasionally terrified stage!

Last week after having lots of pain (which has continued) we had a scan and some blood tests. The scan was too early to see much but what they could say looked encouraging (that it wasn't ectopic), and my hcg had doubled. We have another scan booked at the end of next week, at which I'll be 7 and a half weeks.

I'm feeling cautiously optimistic - oh god why does that feel so horribly like tempting fate?! - that the pains aren't from anything sinister to do with the pregnancy, just a painful reminder of endometriosis and relatively recent surgery on it (a year ago). So I'm still looking at baby books every day, and feeling hopeful. Does anyone get worried about looking too far ahead?!

GingerIdiot · 31/05/2016 11:34

That was meant to say 'exhaustion as if I'd been hit by a bus' ... forgetfulness and baby brain also appears to have made an early appearance Blush

I'm in that stage too! I had an early scan on Friday and all was well, still not sure I'll relax until I have the 12 week one though.
Does anyone think they'd be tempting fate if they bought anything pregnancy/maternity/baby related in the first 3 months? (Vitamins and What to expect... book aside?)

nervoussam - In theory I don't believe in tempting fate but it's really hard not to be extra cautious! I've decided not to let myself buy anything baby-related until the 12 week scan. But yesterday I did pop in to a baby/maternity shop and get one of those material things for bumps as some days my clothes are a bit of a painful fit (Jojo Maman Bebe had a really handy thing that has buttons, so you can wear normal clothes with your flies secretly undone and no one will notice!).

I've been lent three pregnancy/baby books and am finding them useful. I've felt so rough there's no way I can pretend everything is normal until the 12 week mark - for that reason I've told a small number of people, ones who I'd want to talk to if the worst happened, as I find it impossible to have this massive thing going on and not have anyone around me know! Friends who are already parents or who are much more pregnant have been particularly useful.

nervoussam · 31/05/2016 13:40

Yeah I was thinking about clothes as I'm feeling quite bloated and with a holiday in less than 2 weeks I was considering buying clothes in mind with the fact I'd be getting bigger over the summer. Don't want to tempt fate but also aware that some things are snug now, especially on my boobs!

We've been very limited with who we've told so far, just a couple of friends who were aware of our journey to get to this point. I know a lot of people tell their mum's but we don't have a "tell all" sort of relationship and she has the biggest mouth that everyone in the family would soon know and be pretending they didn't!

Just came on my period. Sad, so obviously a false positive or a chemical pregnancy. I feel a bit down to be honest.
I'm 40 so not getting any younger.

nervoussam · 31/05/2016 19:44

I'm sorry lighthouse. Must have been a chemical. Have you been trying for long? Flowers

About 3 years, but I knew it wouldn't stick. Call it mothers intuition. That's why I couldn't get excited. Oh well fx for next month

Have everything crossed for you X

Hi everyone,

Just wondering how everyone is feeling? This is my first time ... napping twice a day, put off by most food, sad at nothing, bloated to the 5 month stage, can't do up clothes, this is all normal, right?!

GingerIdiot · 12/06/2016 19:21

PS had second scan after lots of bad pain in weeks 4 to 6. We saw a tiny little bean with a tiny heartbeat. Possibly the most wonderful moment of my life so far!
