Hi everyone. Exciting day here as we got to see little baby doing somersaults and 'waving' at the camera! Baby is measuring 12w5d so 4 days ahead of LMP date (my instinct was right!) Midwife was so, so lovely and it was absolutely amazing to see little one appear straight away and hear and see the heartbeat when I was expecting bad news. Thank you for all your support so far Grin

Mslg · 26/01/2016 19:08

Congratulations!! That's such great news! I have my scan tomorrow and I'm absolutely shitting it. The last time I had an ultrasound was my last miscarriage.

How did you keep yourself calm before the scan? I'm dreading feeling panicky or upset even before she comes near me with the machine. I'm so so nervous

Sophia1984 · 26/01/2016 19:18

Same here Mslg I went in with a tiny spot of blood at 7 weeks last time and the ultrasound showed absolutely nothing in my womb so was expecting same. I told the midwife as soon as I went in that I was nervous because I'd had a miscarriage, which helped. I think it's totally normal to feel panicky and upset, so don't try and push those feelings away, just remind yourself that, now you've got this far, chances are overwhelming that all will be fine. Good luck!

Mrs1986 · 26/01/2016 19:20

Mslg there is only one thing that made me feel a bit less nervous after my mmc which was someone saying "it's a completely different egg, and a completely different sperm". Not sure why but I focused on this so much and it did help me to relax.
I'm sure the only thing that will relax you is the sound of the heartbeat(s)!
Good luck for tomorrow, let us know how it goes xx

ToElleWithIt · 26/01/2016 20:14

I was a wreck getting scanned after mc too. Best of luck. I wouldn't worry about the hair dye personally. Fair play for shaving your head Santa!

Scan was lovely this evening. Sonographer took lots of time to show us all everything. All looking good.

Ah so lovely Elle! Thanks ladies, after a little cry this evening I'm feeling a little more calm. Scan is at 1.40, wish it was in the morning so I wouldn't be waiting around! Fingers crossed all goes well

NoPowerInTheVerseCanStopMe · 26/01/2016 22:33

Hi can I join?! I'm currently 13 weeks with DC2, due on 2nd August. I was going to join earlier but if I'm honest this is an unplanned pregnancy and while it is very much wanted it's taken me this long to get used to the idea so I'm only just getting excited about it! Been in shock for the past 8 weeks!

Currently in the grips of "morning" (ha!) sickness. Every time I think it's getting a bit better I have a really really bad day and it's back to square one!

kiwiscantfly · 26/01/2016 23:14

Welcome nopower, I'm a newbie too, but everyone is lovely!

Congrats on the recent scans, I'm always a wreck before them, at my last pregnancy they found an 'artefact' and I had to go back two weeks later to be rescanned, essentially nothing was there but it was a scary ten weeks!

Sophia1984 · 27/01/2016 06:38

Enjoy your scan Mslg!

Jw35 · 27/01/2016 07:28

Hope everything goes well today Mslg! Won't be long before we're all showing off the next scan pics! Mine is on 22nd March and I'll be 21 weeks. Time is flying I think, almost the 2nd trimester! Won't be long before we start feeling movement! My last pregnancy I felt her move at 15 weeks, it was like a butterfly fluttering! Smile

silverstar77 · 27/01/2016 08:11

Welcome nopower, I'm new too and can relate to thinking sickness is over then having a really bad day...

Thinking of you today mslg

X

FourForYouGlenCoco · 27/01/2016 09:42

Congrats on your scans Sophia and Elle! Elle those pictures are just amazing, those little feet, wow!
Good luck Mslg, your odds are overwhelmingly good that everything will be just fine and we'll all be admiring your scan pics in a few hours Smile but I agree it is terrifying! Thinking of you.
Welcome power, I feel you on the sickness, mine is so much better than it was but still creeps in some evenings. Fx it ends for you soon!
Jw so sorry about your sister, really hope one of your brothers is a match. When do you find out if they are or aren't? You and your sister are obviously very close, she'll be glad to have you to support her no matter what, I bet.
I can't remember when my 20 week scan is but I know it's mid-March sometime! Laid on the sofa yesterday I could have sworn I felt the tiniest little movements...can't wait to start feeling them properly! We're all getting into the fun bit of pregnancy now, I loved having a bump and feeling DD move - used to have a bath every night as they sent her crazy and just watch my bump wiggling around. Can't wait to do it again!

Welcome nopower nice to have you on board Smile

I bit the bullet and told my boss and colleagues at work today. Had such a lovely reaction, hugs and kisses all round! My boss (male in his 60's) even cheered and said "oh I do love little babies!" Have put off talking about leave/pay etc for another day, but we are all going for a pub lunch to celebrate.

PS the home made cookies went down very well Grin

Mrs1986 · 27/01/2016 11:42

Yay pea that's great news!! X

bearhuggy · 27/01/2016 12:30

ah pea thats great news, I wish my work were more supportive and nice, have been having one hell of a week, just feel like crying most of the time Sad
Very glad to be leaving here at the end of April now as its not a nice environment to be in and stress isn't good for the baby!!

good luck mslg I am sure all will be perfect and look forward to seeing your pis.

Welcome to anyone I may have missed :)

Hope everyone is having a good day so far StarStarStar

Jw35 · 27/01/2016 14:30

That's lovely pea! Smile

The dreaded constipation has started! Time to buy prune juice Sad also need new bras! Apart from that no sickness anymore, it's been about a week sick free! That's got to be the worst part!

Not sure if I should be on this group now or the July one Blush my due date is July 30th and with a planned section no chance of going over! Prob be born 22-25th!

peamad · 27/01/2016 14:39

Thanks everyone. So sorry to hear things have been so hard for you bear that's the last thing you need Sad At least you don't have long to go, sure the time until April will fly by.

Stay here with us Jw! When the time comes can give us a sneak peak of what to expect.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 27/01/2016 15:15

Stick with us Jw, a few of us are July due dates (mine is 29/07 and DD was only a day late!). It's nice on here, it feels like all the July lot are miles ahead! I have been having a sneaky nose on the September and October threads too, it's gone so fast Shock feels like only yesterday we were all finding out!

OP posts:
lilygirl81 · 27/01/2016 15:16

Jw I'm due in July now too, though not sure if it will be a section, depends if they are able to accommodate a water birth for me (physically impossible for me to deliver otherwise due to my mobility and disability). Stay here, we know each other now.

I'm signed off again, but doctor only did the line until 7 February, so I'll be going back to a full week rather than a short one if he had actually done the line for 2 weeks.

Has anyone ever negotiated an enhanced maternity deal? My work is a big, national accountancy firm, but the policy is statutory maternity only. I know they will be keen to keep me and to get me back, not sure if I could use that to say ask for an enhanced package, full pay for 3 months or something like that...

Christinedonna · 27/01/2016 15:31

I'm confused? Do you not get your full pay on maternity leave?

chandelierswinging · 27/01/2016 15:38

No Christine Mat leave amounts differ according to the company. They only legally have to pay the statutory amount (£140 ish a week??? It's been a while since I looked into it...) but many companies offer a greater renumeration package than that. I got a fairly generous 90% pay for 6 weeks (plus statutory), then half pay for 6 months (again, plus statutory), then just statutory for the next three months.

Clarab0w · 27/01/2016 15:46

Mslg how did it go? Hoping you're able to breathe easy now...

nice one, pea - hope my chat goes as well! had my scan yesterday so it's all getting a bit real...

speaking of scans, here's the wee one we got to see yesterday! my due date got revised, too, jw, to 30th july, but i'm definitely going to stay put here now too, if that's ok. it's the most bizarre thing - i'm due on the exact same date as my sister now! what are the odds? we're half a world apart and had no idea the other was trying!

bearhuggy · 27/01/2016 15:56

jw dont gooo!! I am due on the 29th July but am sticking here for sure Smile (how funny are these tartan emojis?!!)

pea thanks for the kind words, trying to rise above it all and remain positive and upbeat and remember whats important.

coco my 20 week is the 14th March so I am guessing you must be close by! I am also really excited about feeling some flutters... midwife said it was like the sensation of a lava lamp inside your tummy!! weird.

MrsSantaClause · 27/01/2016 16:05

Don't go!! With ds#2 I was on the October thread with a due date 2nd oct and he was born 4 weeks early on 5th sept.. There are others who might be early too, and chances are mine will be actually born in July given my track record!

Mslg · 27/01/2016 17:02

Hi ladies, thank you all so much for your words of support. I had them as my mantra when waiting for the scan and all was well. Such a relief!

Due date was pushed forward by two days and is now the 6th August. So surreal seeing the baby somersaulting and wriggling out of the sonographers way. They struggled to get the Nuchal measurements at first and then baby moved. DP, bless him, was shocked. He thought they grew in a stationary mode until a certain gestation 😂

Hope all you ladies have had a good day!
