HUGE hugs to all who are feeling low. As has been said multiple times, it is all supposed to be par for the course but that doesn't make it easier - but IS reassuring! Being open about it and being able to off-load is probably half the battle.

Nuttygirl: Good news - you definitely are fine using Canesten (both the pessary and the cream - Clotrimazole 2%). I had the same problem and my GP prescribed some for me with much reassurance that,
1)this is SO very common in pregnancy due to our whacked hormones, and,
2)there are no side effects for the baby. My GP also made a point of saying that you can get it without a prescription so if I were you, I'd just go to a pharmacy and ask for it without telling them about your pregnancy. Hope that helps.

Have a great evening all. Maveta: Noah is a beautiful name!

Maveta - thats a lovely name. you're brave to choose it so soon, but also very very sensible because believe me after the birth your powers of "decision" will be somewhat diminished.

It took us 6 weeks to name our DS1 after he was born and must have changed our minds a dozen times.

Hence trying to make a so-called concrete decision now......its not going to happen though I am the most indecisive person at the best of times let alone 6 mths pregnant......

Blimey, what a list!
Noah is a lovely name. We have some ideas, but nothing firm.

Well, took dd to the GP and she has bloody impetigo. Cannot believe it. She has been prescribed with penicillin so we will see how we get on, but it scuppers lots of our plans that's for sure.
I feel so sad for her as she is on great form, and is not bothered about it at all. I keep crying as she looks so awfu. It as only when I posted on the health thread that I was made aware of what it could be. Mumsnet is a saviour!

Hope everyone is ok.

Thank you for all the congratulations - Everybody (who knows) was convinced it was a boy so I spent yesterday pulling jaws off the floor when i said it was a girl.

SORL - Hope DD gets better soon. I'm also glad that she looks worse than she feels(if that makes any sense?)

Ange and SSFK - SPD sounds so painful. I hope you girls feel better soon.

MIAM like you I have been experiencing backache, i've tried sleeping with a hundred pillows, being concious of my posture but it's still a problem. My hospital runs a back and babies class about back and pelvic pain in pregnancy, so i think i may have to attend as I WANT SOME SLEEP (not shouting at you ladies).

Opinions - wow what a list. Some beautiful names on there, i don't know whether to choose now or wait until i see what bean looks like?

Eca - top up anti D???? I'm also o rh neg-, i had an injection at 12 weeks because of bleeding. I'm due to go for another one at 28 weeks. Is this the top up?

Gosh - looking at all those names has me even more confused....

I was dead set on Robert for a boy and now I'm wavering....I like Cameron, David, Callum, Andrew also but Robert is DH's grandfathers name so daren't mention to DH that I've gone off it....
As for girls it's either Robyn or Erin and I'm pretty set that it will be Robyn (although when I asked DS which he liked he keeps saying Erin! lol)

It's funny cos last time round I was dead set on James for a boy but wavering re girls names and it ended up a boy so maybe this time it might be the other way round seeeing as I have chosen the girls name?! Such a big decision to make - I feel that as I hate my name and wish my parents had chosen anything other than my actual name (I am a Pauline - apologies not meaning to offend any others out there!!!)

SORL - poor DD and Impetigo - make sure you try and wash all towels and bedlinen etc as it's quite contagious.
Also re the Canesten - Nuttygirl - just ring your surgery and explain and would the Dr not just write you a script for that without being seen (thats what I would do at work...) but as I think others have mentioned you can just buy it and it is perfectly safe. Hope the itch subsides soon...poor you!

Had a nice day today - took DS to the local soft play centre and met a girl who I was in hospital with when I had DS, not seen her since so it was nice to have a chat and reminice!!!

I feel absolutley huge today - I think I look about 30 weeks pregnant - it's scary! How much bigger are we gonna get this time?! lol
Oh well off to look for some more name inspiration!!!

Evening all.

Thanks for all the good wishes regarding my SPD. Went to see the Physio today. She was really lovely Has given me some exercises to do as well as one of the support belts, which made it feel so much better as soon as I put it on. She has set it off though by feeling around it to see how much movement there was in the pelvis she said it shouldn't move at all and mine moves at least 1cm on each side of the Sacro-iliac joint. Luckily it's not causing much pain or inflammation at the front at the moment but she did warn that it could get worse. It is really sore this evening not helped by the fact that her room was at the opposite end of the hospital to the main entrance so had quite a long walk to get there.

Physio also told me that the Chiropractor had left bruises on my sacro-iliac joints Didn't realise that he had left bruises, it didn't feel that painful.

Sorry that was such a self absorbed message. I'm off to catch up now.

Nuttygirl - you are indeed allowed to use Canestan during pg. I've had it prescribed by the Dr.

I also think Noah is a lovely name Maveta.

SORL - poor dd having impetigo. Hope it clears up soon. At least she is well and happy in herself.

MIAM - We also like Robert it's one of the few names we both like. We also like Alexander and Callum. As we've agreed on boys names I expect I'll have a girlAlso about looking huge. Physio said that my spine is curving because of the SPD and that makes my belly look more pregnant than I actually am. Made me feel a bit better about my huge stomach

Yvie - That back posture class sounds like a good idea. Hope it helps you to get some decent sleep.

CD - Still thinking of you, hope the move is going ok.

Sorry to those I've missed I have tried to catch up.

Love to you all xx

We did a football premiership league of names with our first two - so started with about 22 names and they would play eachother and go forward a round! We ended up with Jake as the winner on both - but didn't call either of them Jake!

Erin was our girls name too - but is a boy - and completely stuck - really really hard.

Determined not to shout at my children today - have been great for weeks but last few days have been terrible! We have made a pact and shook hands on a no shouting day!

They are currently both getting dressed without any fuss or tears

Must go - busy day ahead - birthday party then meeting friend for lunch & mad children playing.

Morning!
I totally know what you mean about the "no shouting" thing SSNFK. This week has been a struggle in this house too. DS is an angel normally but has been going through a "testing" phase....so lots of time out on the bean bag and tears and I am ashamed to admit he has had a smacked bottom twice. I hate myself as it's just so ineffective and is just a sign that I've got frustrated and lost it so I've been making a conscious effort to try and ignore the bad and reward the good and not escalate things by making a big fuss when it's not really necessary. It's working - he's been alot better - it's just so hard when it gets to the end of the day and your shattered and they won't....eat, get undressed, have bath, wash hair etc etc without a BIG TANTRUM! lol

So I am having a "have patience week"! lol

Our boys names list has been dramaticaly culled by DH and is now

Robert (sigh)
Scott
Mark
Simon

I think I like Scott...so maybe a Scott Robert Reucroft!....I bet it's a girl after all this!

Hardly slept a wink again last night as back was really sore and just can't get comfy and also having a problem recently with DH using his normal deoderant. If he uses it in the bathroom and I am still in bed it chokes me and makes me really wheezy and headachey. He's even opening the bathroom window and making sure all the doors are closed but it's still affecting me...wierd how your body reacts so differently to things when pregnant...it's like I've developed some kind of asthma reaction.

Well at work this afternoon so have a morning with DS and have to clean the bathroom today - it's driving me bonkers...

Hope all are well this morning

Hi all, hope everyone is ok. Dd seems to look a bit better today, but I feel so on edge about this impetigo thing. Fortunately I think we have caught it early, so it will hopefully be gone soon. Feel very down about it though. At least dd is bright and happy unlike her mum! .
Anyway, better go. See you all later.

Ahh SORL - what a shame. Good thing is I'm sure it will all be cleared up in time for Santa coming! These things happen, especially if she goes to nursery or is in contact with lots of other kids - things just get passed around. I hope you feel a bit brighter soon, Hugs to you

Thanks MIAM. I am also really shouty today, as she is driving me mad. Not because she feels poorly and is whining, but just that she is being so naughty, and completely ignoring me. I have just shouted at her as she ran off with some chocolate. I said if I found it open there would be trouble... so I go upstairs and it is open and she is eating it!

She also keeps touching her face and stuff, and I just wish I could get her to understand that if she keeps doing that, the spots will spread and get worse.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh - I am so frustrated. Also, so bored, as the plans to see friends with kids have had to be postponed. I feel like a prisoner in my own home!!!

Morning gang. Hope all well. Sorry not to have posted, had M to visit over the weekend and a family lunch at my grandparents (my M is 3 hours away, her parents 1 mile!) on Sunday so all hectic but festive and lovely. DS been an angel, well as far as everyone else is concerned and is relishing the attention.
Have managed to keep on top of reading posts - just! But have now forgotten most of what wanted to say! Hope all those with the "blues" cheer up soon, am sure the darkness and cold have something to do with it! Its suddenly become winter.

Sorry to hear of SORL's dd's illness - hopefully tho it will go down before Xmas...

On the names front Leone (pronounced "ie" at the end) has been a fav of mine for about 10 years! Also love Siena but IMO has to spelt with 1 n like the place, don't know where 2 "n"s has come from other than the actress - maybe her parents made it up!!! Boys names are harder - I have Asher, Levi, Conrad, Hector on my list. Also quite like Jackson but DH says its too American and Chavvy (hope not to offend anyone!!)

Nearly the Xmas break - hurrah! Can't wait to have DH home and not at work!!!

morning all, got roped into doing more xmas shopping yesterday, I know what your all thinking I said I had finished, I have but had to do some for my mum who is working over time and is shitting bricks because she thinks she has run out of time.

Thats a hell of a list of names you have there.
My boy name has had to change again although I love tristian DH said it is too feminin (WHAT!)
I think he wants the boy baby to be butch or something masculine like that.
So yet again we are stuck on names.
We will be really stuck if it turns out to be 2 boys!

Hope everyone is getting in the festive mood and eating all the great xmas goodies there are.
What a great time of year to be pg

Hi all,

SORL, hope dd's face clears soon, IKWYM about being a prisoner in your own home, amazing how quickly it drives you bonkers. Tea tree oil (slightly diluted) is really good for impetigo.

Feeling fairly festive here despite having had a disgusting cold for almost two weeks (grrr) and imminent arrival of MIL - have bottles of non-alcoholic mulled wine and LOADS of edible goodies .

Not sure how much I'll be on MN over the next few days (unless MIL really starts to piss me off...) so HAVE A FABULOUS CHRISTMAS EVERYONE* - & hope it goes smoothly for everyone catering for hordes !!

Hi there! Thanks to everyone reassuring me I can use cream...sent hubby for some this morning. Have appointment with mw tomorrow so will tell her about it.

Finally managed to start sorting spare room last night...me & DH were up late doing it but got loads done and might even have it all sorted tonight. Was really happy because there's loads more room in there now so it's starting to feel like a nursery rather than a spare room, even tho we're not gonna decorate it as such. Also unpacked the pram and when folded it fits in my hall cupboard which is great cos if it gets mucky wheels it won't have to stand in the living room on the cream carpet (mind you...it might not be cream for too long with a LO!!!)

My pg brain set in when looking at storage boxes in Ikea...bought some cd boxes but they are too big for the cupboard (duh...don't know how i managed that!) but DH said he could saw a bit off them to make them fit.

We're going to my parents on Saturday and stying until Jan 1st. Going to an Indian on NYE which is really yummy (been there a few times!).

Sorry your dd isn't well SORL, at least she doesn't seem to be feeling too bad. Hope it clears up soon.

Really love Robert & Robyn - unfortunately we couldn't have either of those with our surname (Raison). Think Erin is lovely...hadn't considered that before...hmm...wonder what DH thinks. (DH doesn't like many names...if i suggest a unique name he says too wierd and if i suggest a more normal name he complains he knows someone with that name or it's too popular)

err...can't remember anything else i was going to say...

hi there evryone, hope you are all winding down for bedtime - i have to say I've been looking forward to this all day! it was mother's christmas night out from school last night, and I have to say I was out past 12, and though I didn't turn into a pumpkin, I have been paying for my late night today!

re names - should those that have a girl not have to consider 'April'? ( or 'May' if you're as late as I'm sure I will be)

there's no real boys equivalent for those is there?

Hope all the kids illnesses/sniffles/spots clear up in time for some fun over christmas - it's bad enough not being able to have a good drink, but if we're all stuck in the house too...............at least we'll have our presents to play with!
