purple mine kept falling asleep so the sonographer kept getting me to jump up and down and wriggle my hips to wake it up!

So sorry to hear about pips news Sad makes me so nervous, thought we'd all be past the scary stage now Sad x

Booked in for nhs classes now. Based on others opinions I think I'll cancel my reservation for the nct ones now. Worst case I suppose I could always pay for a postnatal if I'm struggling!

SophieBarringtonWard · 14/01/2015 17:24

Pipbin I guess you won't see this (and I don't want to intrude PMing you) but your news is so, so sad, I know you said this was your last try. Wishing you all strength & lots of support & love around you Flowers

BadIdeaBear · 14/01/2015 18:22

From what you were saying on your FB timeline, miss, your NHS classes sound perfect. If they were happening in York and were as thorough as yours sound, I would have saved the money too. Good decision!

So so sad to hear about pip - she was just a tad behind most people, in waiting for her 12 week scan and this is such awful news.

Toastandmarmiteallday · 14/01/2015 18:37

How upsetting, so very sorry Pip x

Kilicat · 14/01/2015 18:48

Pip, such sad news. Thinking of you x

Fleurchamp · 14/01/2015 19:46

Wasn't pip having IVF and this was her only chance?
I feel so utterly, utterly sad for her.

Thepurplegiraffe · 14/01/2015 19:48

Yes that was Pip, just devastating for her.

WiIdfire · 14/01/2015 20:52

So sad for Pip :-(

I have a question for the larger ladies amongst you - where are you shopping for maternity clothes? I tried the other day but found nothing above size 16. I have an afternoon in London tomorrow so I can get to most shops - any suggestions appreciated!
Am 6 feet tall, size 22 with size 9 feet and 42G bust - pre-pregnancy. It is hard enough clothes shopping at the best of times, let alone with a bump - help!

TTCMrsF · 14/01/2015 21:04

So so sorry to hear of pip's news. Our words can't console her but I'm hopefully she'll be comforted in some way knowing all our thoughts and best wishes are with her and her partner.

Raines100 · 14/01/2015 21:08

Pip I don't know if you'll read this, but I am so very sorry. Flowers

misseskimo · 14/01/2015 21:50

badidea one of my friends text me off the back of my fb post, and was telling me about the horrible experiences both her SIL and friend had had via nct. whereas she had a fantastic experience with her local nhs group, plus she said it was the same amount of hours as mine is, and it covered everything you'd need to know. So that kinda convinced me to just go with that... It will save me at least £225 and that's just for the basic course for nct in my area without the hypno and bf sessions! So fx it's good.

Number3cometome · 14/01/2015 22:01

wild I'm meeting my bestie tomorrow, she is 6ft and a size 22 and her baby is due Friday, I will ask her

Catlover2014 · 14/01/2015 22:21

Feel for you wild, finding it hard enough to get mat clothes long enough and I'm only 5.8, size 10. Most of the stores don't stock mat gear any more so you may be best to look online.

jmojo · 14/01/2015 22:34

wildfire have you looked at longtallsally? They do maternity. There is a store near baker street i think and there used to be one in Mamchester... Check out yhe website anyway.

WiIdfire · 15/01/2015 00:31

Thank you!

LizziTea · 15/01/2015 04:36

I am awake! It's my long-awaited scan this morning, and although I am not that anxious, I have been unable to sleep since 3.30. Just need to while away a few hours then fingers crossed I will see a lovely scan! Who else has their scan today?

smallgreenbanana · 15/01/2015 04:57

So sorry for pip Sad

I'm awake too Lizzi, same as every night. Starting to get a bit silly now. I'm falling asleep on the sofa at 9pm, but then wake up between 3am and 4am. Have to get up for an hour or so before going back to bed. Is this just a pregnancy thing?

Ladies who know of bad experiences with NCT, what sort of thing? I have looked into the classes in my area and thought they were supposed to be smaller class sizes and more thorough?

LizziTea · 15/01/2015 05:34

I have heard some mixed things about NCT, but I am still booked onto a course, partly because I like the idea that it's usually a good way to make friends and I know almost no-one in my city! The more negative things I have heard are that they can sometimes seem so pro-natural birth that you might end up feeling guilty if your labour is different or you end up choosing more intervention, but I reckon I can filter that out if necessary. I have also heard that some classes are not so sympathetic to formula feeding, but touch wood I will be breastfeeding so that's okay with me!

Naturegirl82 · 15/01/2015 06:45

I've heard similar to lizzi regarding nct but I think it depends on the person running it.

Good luck lizzi and number for your scans today

Fleurchamp · 15/01/2015 06:59

I think the NCT classes very much depend on the person running the class.
I overheard someone at my yoga class saying she is doing the one in my area. I may nab her for an opinion before committing to the class.
My friends who have done it in different areas have raved about them.
TBH I love the idea of doing everything naturally but I also want to be informed about the other options because I want to be prepared for things not going to plan.
Same with BF, if I can do it without making myself too stressed, great, but if it doesn't work for me and/or the baby I am determined not to beat myself up over it.

Zampa · 15/01/2015 07:12

My friends who've completed NCT courses are really positive about them. They've also made great friends with the other expectant mums. I've signed up for both the ante and post natal courses. Looking forward to them!

SophieBarringtonWard · 15/01/2015 07:25

Our NCT classes were great. Am still friends with 3 of the couples 7 years later even though we live 100s of miles apart now.

Toastandmarmiteallday · 15/01/2015 08:04

We've signed up for NCT - recommended by SIL who said it was great for the support and meeting others. Disappointed that nhs here only offer one class prior to birth and not sure of the reality of learning everything in a day for this massive life-changing event!!

WantToGoingTo · 15/01/2015 08:06

Pink spotting... So off to EPU this morning :( I really panicked when I saw it. But now I calmed down I know I had detailed can that showed everything fine and low risk on Monday so surely things can't change that quickly? My mum doesn't think it anything to worry about but it is still scary.

12+6

luckythirteen · 15/01/2015 08:11

Hope everything is okay for you Want and that the EPU can reassure you.
