yay, I'm not alone! I won't pretend I'm sad you can't sleep either!Grin

That bloody cake is all I did yesterday.
DS1 is a chorister at a Royal Chapel (not stealth boasting, I'm very proud of him openly!Wink ) and one of the boys is leaving today.
his mum asked me to make a cake for him, so I said yes.
she is paying me, so it was quite stressful, I really worried about screwing up.

I don't do cakes like that for fun, and can only take them on if DH is home to look after kids

Wow zing thats awesome about ds your very right to be proud- bet the cake looks fab too! I've spent last hour pretending to be tired but given up and back on mums net!

OP posts:
icklekid · 27/04/2014 04:55

I'm bored enough to have Googled tour of maternity unit at the hospital giving birth In- video started blaring but dh still seems to be asleep!

Heartburn is killing me so sat up in bed staring at ever increasing belly. Belly button is def on way out! Trying to decide if I can be bothered to get up and get my new ipad from work and spend next few hours playing on that?!

ZingWatermelon · 27/04/2014 05:01

get ipad.

I'm feeling a bit sleepy now

Just seen childbirth threax- am shocked someone would put themselves at risk rather than have a man examine them during labour!!!

ZingWatermelon · 27/04/2014 05:08

the one I was called a troll?

I can't believe it.
(was I nasty? I'm not nasty generally, but that bubblegum just got me going.
no wonder, with that name.....)

OP posts:
icklekid · 27/04/2014 05:17

Yep that's the one! I wouldn't have taken offense at what you said but find on mn often posters only want to hear from people who agree with them! If op had real reason they should speak to their hospital for reassurance not the internet!

Sorry should stop posting and let you get back to sleep!!!

ZingWatermelon · 27/04/2014 05:24

I can't fricking sleep!Angry

maybe I was a bit harsh. but how can anyone say they'd rather give birth without help then a qualified male HCP? seems incredibly irresponsible and spoilt princessy

anyway, pee breakGrin

OP posts:
icklekid · 27/04/2014 05:27

Yep your baby health or a man to examine...no question! Makes you wonder how some people get pregnant (maybe that was harsh...sorry. ..not sorry)

Anyway pinterest is my 5am friend-see pic!

and I was questioning that too!Grin

ZingWatermelon · 27/04/2014 05:30

baby is kicking like mad right now.

OP posts:
icklekid · 27/04/2014 05:32

So since yesterday my bump is really sore at both sides- guessing baby is transverse. When I push it in it stops hurting. ..this is normal right?!

ZingWatermelon · 27/04/2014 05:36

you mean push on baby to move a bit then pain stops?
yep, that's fine.

DS1 used to kick just under my rib cage then flick his foot from under rib to over and it really hurt.
I quickly learnt to tackle him.

OP posts:
ZingWatermelon · 27/04/2014 05:38

both sides - do you mean side of belly, soft part or psin above hip?

OP posts:
icklekid · 27/04/2014 05:38

Ok will stop with pictures but this made me laugh!

Side of belly- above hips. I think I'm worrying about nothing just only this week has baby felt big enough to cause pain- got jabbed in ribs and wouldn't move when got to the gym on Friday, was not impressed!

Incapinka · 27/04/2014 08:28

I was reading that thread too in the silly hours. I can't remember who was in the room when DC was born and certainly didn't care what sex they were so long as they knew what they were doing. Was going to post something along the lines of what if one of the MWs was a lesbian. Would that still be ok or would she have been "assaulting" the OP.

Hope you all got some sleep in the end?

Howly · 27/04/2014 08:49

I've just read the thread too zing, I agree with you and wanted to say the lesbian thing!! Silly really! I'm quite straight when it comes to advice so she just needs to crack on or get her anxiety checked- if she stresses out too much she will have labour complications!

On a different note, we have a 4d bonding scan today!!

Plateofcrumbs · 27/04/2014 08:56

As predicted I was out like a light within 5 mins of sticking Maggie Howell on! If I get nothing else out of this natal hypnotherapy stuff, at least it's helping me sleep. Hope the rest of you are catching up on some Zzzs.

ickle - 'introducing baby to pets' made me laugh. On the pet front we are lucky to have the world's most stupid least provokable cat who I swear actively enjoys having toddlers stick their fingers in her ears. Which is good news for future DC, but I fear for future safety of the cat!

And yes it's going to be very, very strange to be financially dependent on DH during ML. And am generally wondering how I'm going to feel about money and work post-DC. Will I baby able justify "working for the love of it" full-time when I could "work for the £££" part-time and spend more time with DC? (I work for a charity and could easily do the same job in private sector for much more than I earn now).

ismarah · 27/04/2014 09:26

I should have been on here in the night instead of attempting to sleep through the party in the street!

I have a new problem. FML. Now I have to be careful when I move in bed not to spontaneusly dislocate my right hip! I've never dislocated it before but have had some bumps on it and now with relaxin / baby / centre of gravity / whatevs it came really close twice last night. Freaky as fcuk.

Amazing sounding cake Zing!

Howly · 27/04/2014 09:28

I've not got a job to go back to after ML as we are relocating so it's good in a sense as I have free reign over what I do but we want a mortgage as first time buyers so I also need the money which would mean going back FT as a secondary teacher which I'm not willing to do with no family for child care, one thing I'm sure of is that I don't want someone else bringing up my baby whilst I sweat over educating other peoples children! Swings and roundabouts though!!

Fox28 · 27/04/2014 09:59

If anyone takes pregnacare, I got a pack of 90 for £5.85 in superdrug yesterday! Can't remember how much they are normally, but seemed like a bargain!

coco808 · 27/04/2014 10:38

Hello everyone! Phew just caught up....took me over 2 hours to read everything. Gosh, so many comments to make.
Sorry I haven't been on for a while. Had a bit of a scare. Had just finished a very tiring day at work and was walking back to my car while on the phone to DH, about getting a takeaway Wink, when I just blacked out and fell straight on to tarmac in front of on coming traffic. Thankfully, the cars stopped and I had managed to protect my belly in the fall (I think!!). Ended up with twisted ankle, various cuts, bruises etc...on top of making my SPD worse!!
Anyway, the next day I was getting the results of my GTT, which has come back as borderline diabetic Sad Sad. Now I am worried I will be induced at 38 years as the Consultant threatened last time!

And to top it all, I have to write and submit a 5000 word essay on STILLBIRTHS!!! I can so empathise with you Becky and Patchwork. Post-grad study sucks when working full time!

But on a happy note, I have just enjoyed 4 blissful days in an adult-only hotel (for the last time??) in beautiful Santorini Grin Grin

Feel all refreshed and ready to start my essay....NOT!

ZingWatermelon · 27/04/2014 10:43

coco induced at 38 years?!

oh my world! do say something about doing it a smidge earlier!
