Fox82 · 12/04/2014 08:05

Congratulations Pen! Flowers Can't wait to hear her name and see a photo!!

cartoontrickster · 12/04/2014 08:15

I hope the weather stays warm, are radiator does on full blast and that's it so I will have to not have tge heating on at all when he will be in bed. but I think I prefer that idea over moving him before he i is ready.
just need to find somewhere for my bedside table. I understand why the guidlines are there but who has space for anything other than a Moses basket in there room.

pommedeterre · 12/04/2014 09:52

Congratulations pen!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 12/04/2014 10:30

Solars · 12/04/2014 13:29

Awww congratulations Pen I've been lurking around for your news!! Thanks

Yes Maybe how are you doing?

Anybody got any advice on cradle cap which has come up over the last week on A?? Apart from that we're both well.

Stacks · 12/04/2014 18:31

Congratulations pen. Looking forward to some more details as soon as you're ready.

How are you getting on maybe?

Solars we always just left cradle cap, but I've heard olive oil, baby oil, or coconut oil are excellent for it.

trix hopefully your room will stay warm enough without the heating on. DS was a winter baby and our room was freezing even with heating!

ThedementedPenguin · 13/04/2014 14:02

Wow what a weekend. Thanks everyone for the congrats. I still can't believe she is here.

So Friday morning I have my 41 week hospital appointment, I plan to refuse all examinations as up to date I'd had 4 sweeps and nothing very exciting was happening.
So get there and asked about earlier induction (was booked for 16th) and consultant said I had to speak to his boss and he would want to check if I would be favourable for early induction.
So Donald comes in, checks everything out. Says I am 3cm, head is very low, membranes are bulging. Was surprised I was still pregnant. He did a sweep which really hurt. Got booked in for induction on Sat but Donald said he would be surprised if I made it.

Came home and put Herbie to bed, started getting pains. Noticed pains where regular and thought I'd better start timing them. This was 2pm and contractions wee coming every 3ish minutes and lasting 30secs. Rang hospital and they said to make my way over to be checked out. Arrived at 4pm and I was 4cm so I was allowed to stay. Continued on in my room and was told to let them know if they increased or waters broke. At 8pm midwife says bye new one comes in and exams me, I am 7cm.
I can't stand as pain is unbearable so I had been sitting down/on all fours during this all and she says to get onto my left side to help baby move down.
Contractions coming fast, starting to feel lots of pressure. Then my waters go, soaking everything, my feet/socks, legs my top all soaking wet. Straight away babies head is out, then she is born at 9.20pm.

No cuts, no tears and no stitches (thankfully)

She is amazing. I really can't believe she is here.

So we have called her Naomi Jayne T. She was 7lb 2oz. We got home yesterday and we are just chilling in bed atm. Still in shock about it all but so happy she is here. Hard to get used to both of them but it's amazing.

Wow Penguin that is the way to do it! Congratulations, she is beautiful and Naomi is a lovely name and shares the same middle name as me with the y :)

TheLittleFriend · 13/04/2014 19:40

Wonderful birth story Pen, and a beautiful name for a beautiful girl. Enjoy settling her in to your family Grin

Fox28 · 14/04/2014 20:39

She's beautiful Pen! And I love her name Smile

musicalmrs · 15/04/2014 14:28

Congratulations Pen, what an amazing birth! And a lovely picture - she's beautiful :)

Stacks, so sorry to hear about your cat. How's he doing? Putting off the house move potentially sounds sensible. For us, while it means DH will be later home when he goes to the office, it means he'll actually have somewhere to work when working from home (which is quite often now), whereas it would have become the baby's room at some point which would have made things tricky!

Sorry for not posting for a while - it has been a bit of a whirlwind here. We got the house! :) Currently not 100% sure when we move, but it should be beginning of May. Chasing the developers at the moment, as they're dragging their heels..

Beginning to feel a little less sick, but having a lot more back problems. Still, could be worse!

How are all the other brookers doing? :)

GreenOlives · 15/04/2014 17:48

Congratulations pen! Lovely birth story and beautiful name! Grin Thanks Thanks Thanks I think I've missed the picture - was it on the FB group?

pommedeterre · 17/04/2014 13:33

Lovely picture and name pen how's it all going a few days in?

Stacks · 17/04/2014 18:25

Hey all. Cat is doing well, he's home and seems to be adapting to 3 legs quickly and well. He was really stressing me out last night trying to get comfortable somewhere to sleep. I finally decided I couldn't watch him and went up to bed to knit!
I'm really suffering with my left hip now. I guess it's spd, but it's specifically that hip. I get very intense, sudden pain when doing some things, it passes almost instantly, but by golly does it hurt! There's also the general back/hip ache, but it's not too bad most of the time. DS doesn't understand that I'm old, fat and in pain, even though I've tried to explain it a few times. His favourite things at the moment are a train that drives along (and gets stuck on the wall/toys/everything) that he wants on all the time, and a dinosaur that moves around which he's also terrified of Hmm so he's running and hiding or trying to cuddle me, then as soon as it stops he's walking me over to it and using my finger to turn it back on!

I've got in touch with the physio, and it's a 6-8 week waiting list for an appointment. So I'm not holding out much hope of actually seeing someone in time for it to help (30w today). My GP warned me that private physios probably will refuse to see me, as I'm in that fearful last trimester. Too do you think the physio you saw would see me this late on?

That's enough of my complaining!

Positive things - DS is fully weaned now, and has been for a week or two. He took to it really well, just accepted no feed at bedtime without a fuss. DH also put him down for a nap for the first time in about 11 months, and he accepted that well too. Next step is DH putting him to bed. I'm just a little excited!
We bought a new mattress to be delivered at the weekend, which again I'm silly excited about. DH doesn't notice the massive dip in the middle of our current one - probably because he sleeps in it!
And finally the weather has been lovely for he most part these last few days. DS has loved being out in the garden, and I've loved being able to put loads of laundry through and dry it the same day. Totally sad of me I know, but it's been awesome, really.

How is everyone else?
Musical really glad the house stuff is finally almost sorted. All you need is that move in date now :)
Pen what a wonderful birth story. How are you enjoying newborn snuggles? I hope you're getting some rest and are settling into things well.
Too how's the dog? And how are you ofc! How has weaning M been going? I remember you saying she'd accepted no morning (?) feed one day, did you manage to make a habit of it? Hope your hips are behaving, and you're getting some rest where you can.
Green the picture is in this thread. If you're using an app I guess you might not see it though? Try the mobile or desktop web version. She's beautiful, it's worth it :)

DS is getting out the bath now, so need to go get him ready for bed. Where are all the pg Brookers up to now? Should we do another mini list?

Stacks - girl due 28/6 - 30w

GreenOlives · 18/04/2014 12:03

Ahh I see, thanks stacks! Sorry your hips are giving you trouble - hope new mattress helps a little! Right I'm off to the laptop to admire the new arrival! Smile

GreenOlives · 18/04/2014 12:09

Seen it - Shes gorgeous pen Grin

ThedementedPenguin · 18/04/2014 13:30

Things here are going great. So far she is just so content. Complete opposite of her brother. She sleeps great at night. Can't stop looking at her and cuddling her. Although trying to keep ds involved at all times which is quite hard but so far going okay. Can't believe she is a week old today. We have kept her out little secret so far and very few people know she is here or have seen her. Haven't made a Facebook announcement yet to a lot of people's annoyance but I'm not ready to share her yet so tough luck to them.

Weather here has been great so ds is outside playing all day. We have spent a fortune on toys for him the past two days as we didn't have any outdoor toys. His great nanny is buying him a trampoline, which will be interesting. Can't imagine him bouncing on it but he will enjoy sitting in it.

Stacks glad to hear your cat is recovering and adapting well. Hope it keeps up.

Did you go ahead with the physio referral? Hope something comes through soon and it helps it a bit.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 18/04/2014 19:54

Pen, glad things are going well! And yay for good sleeping.

Stacks, sorry to hear your hip is giving you grief. I don't know whether the private physio has a rule against third trimester or not - would be worth calling to find out, though, because she really was good. She didn't say I couldn't go back in my third trimester, and you'd think she'd have warned me if that were the case. It's the Edinburgh Sports Injury Clinic - ask for an appt with June. I had to wait a fortnight but that's much better than waiting 6-8 weeks! I finally had my NHS appt on Wed afternoon and the physio I saw at RIE said that they were still very busy as one of the team had retired recently and not yet been replaced. NHS physio didn't do anything hands-on, just assessed me, but to be fair the pain has been much better since I saw the private one. Apart from today, but that's been caused by Velcro toddler refusing to let DH carry her in the park, plus refusing to walk or go on her trike thing. Note to self: trike will not do instead of buggy! You can't strap a grumpy toddler into a trike.

Get well soon, Stacks' cat!

I weaned M in Feb - went away for a weekend without her and when I came back refused to bf any more. I told her she was a big girl now and made sure I had milk in a bottle to give her instead whenever she tried to bf, and it was surprisingly easy. Yay for T weaning contentedly too! The only thing is that M keeps sticking her hand down my top, into my bra and holding my nipples for comfort. Honestly, she does it all the flipping time and starts absent-mindedly pinching/digging her fingernails in. She came in beside me in bed the other night (having woken up at 3am shrieking like a train whistle) but would only sleep if she had hold of both my nipples. Hmm Might have to wean her off that too at some point! She's also still very territorial - if DH puts a hand on my boobs she tries to throw it off and then has a giant tantrum if he won't let go. I'm a bit worried about how she'll react to the new baby feeding. Sad

Musical, how's the house move going? Are you up to your ears in packing?

Dino, Purple, Fox, how are you all getting on?

Hi everyone, I have been lurking not posting as tbh I don't have much good to say!

DH grandad passed away two weeks ago, the funeral is this week, so the family has been upset by this, Dd particularly.

My dad has been battling bowel cancer and has a scan on the 22nd to find out whether his tumour is operable after chemo and radio to shrink it. If it is then he has to have major surgery and a colostomy bag for he rest of his life . Prognosis better, still unknown, if it isn't operable, it will be palliative treatment. So not great either way!

So just feeling a bit mopey! Altho have spent some lovely time with DD off school :) scan is on the 29th, which tbh adds some uncertainty, hopefully will be fine!

Having a nightmare with getting DS to sleep too, DH is doing it but I am missing him in the evening as he is taking an hour to go down at least and then waking every 45mins until late!

Oh my blinking tumble dryer has gone bang too! A month after having to live without my 5mo cooker for a couple of weeks as the power supply terminal had burnt out, making me paranoid about the electrics here.

Pen so pleased things are going well :)

stacks glad your cat is doing well, amazing how well they can get about with three legs :) 30weeks is great too hopefully not much longer a having to put up with your sore hip as it magically rights itself post birth :)

too I think I am weaning ds fully now. Feel a bit sad, but I can't bear the sensation of it right now. Hopefully M will be ok with new baby nursing, might be a good to have strategies just in case! A box of toys/book just for when you r feeding I found successful :)

music any news on the house? Beginning of May is so quick! Have you sold your house already?

Hope everyone is well, and I haven't missed anything?

PurpleWithaMysteryBun · 20/04/2014 15:03

Oh mystery bun 19+1, EDD 13/09/14
