Oh no Littleen, I'm so sorry to hear about your mum. Such sad news. I hope you get to spend some time with her over the next few days x

Cubano - glad to hear you're going to be signed off, you'll feel so much better for it. I know it's not ideal but you have to look after yourself.

Julietee, don't worry the next few weeks will fly by and you'll get to 37 and feel the "oh shit I'm having a baby really soon and I've loads left to do". It's rubbish that your nhs service hasn't supported you with

misskatamari · 08/01/2014 21:27

Oops hit sent - supported you with our anxiety - could you make an appointment with the midwife next week anyway and try to get something put in place?

rueyrichardson · 08/01/2014 21:33

Hugs to you Litleen

pettyprudence · 08/01/2014 21:38

julietee for some reason I have delayed buying nappies too - I could so easily pick them up in the supermarket when buying ds's pull ups... or maternity pads... or breast pads but I haven't even glanced at the newborn sizes (I do have almost everything else sorted but only because its ds's hand-me-downs)

I have my 34w appointment tomorrow, but I have only had 16 and 28w appointments with my mw before this (they can't be arsed with you second time round!). I will apparently have 36, 38 and 40w appointments (I really hope I don't have any more after that!). As I have only seen my mw twice (and the first meeting she was just a stand in mw but now she is THE mw) I am hoping to have a bit of a chat with her re: homebirth - I am pretty sure they put me down for one at my booking in appt at 12w!

Julietee · 08/01/2014 21:57

Littleen So sorry to hear about your mum. Thanks

Thanks all for the sympathy re anxiety - I'm lucky enough that my dad is able to pay for me to see my old psychologist privately, and I have actually finally got my arse in gear to see him a few times in the last few weeks, which has been really helpful.
But it would have been great to have more 'is this normal for pregnancy?' type anxiety quelling help available from midwifery services. Which obviously, my psych can't help me with! I've relied on ringing the Tommy's pregnancy line weekdays, especially early on, (it just helps to know it's there, tbh, I've tried hard not to ring too frequently) because I don't have direct access to a midwife apart from ringing the triage.

sunflowered · 08/01/2014 22:21

littleen will be thinking about you tomorrow - I hope that somehow it's possible for your mum to meet her grandchild in a few weeks time Thanks

Sending hugs to you Littleen

Sunflowered hope they are taking good care of you in hospital and that your LO gets to cook for as long as possible!

HarlemWobble · 08/01/2014 22:33

On a separate note -TMI alert!

Can I ask 2nd/3rd timers what a mucus plug looks like? I've been having increased amount of CM over the last few weeks but then yesterday and today I've had some clear stringy blobs. Dr Google has panicked me it could be my plug!

Shropshiremummy2B · 08/01/2014 22:44

Littleen you poor little poppet, can't for a moment imagine what you're going through so all I can offer are virtual hugs.

Juliettee it makes perfect sense for you and me to swap, you get to turn 37 weeks on Saturday and I get an extra few weeks of scrummy pregnancy. Deal?

Shropshiremummy2B · 08/01/2014 22:45

Harlem I googled it ages ago out of curiosity, i had no idea what to expect.

EeyoreIsh · 08/01/2014 22:56

littleen big hugs, I hope your mum is kept comfortable and you get to spend some quality time with her tomorrow. Thanks Thanks

cubano I don't think you'll regret finishing work early. I'm so much more relaxed and comfortable since I stopped work, and I'm sure the growth spurt after slow growth is because I'm not stressed out commuting.

Thingymajigs · 08/01/2014 23:06

So sorry to hear about what you're going through littleen. Thanks

I'm not sure what a mucus plug looks like since I didn't see them from my previous two. Apparently it looks like a gross jelly like substance with bits of blood in it. Lovely.
I've been having this weird bubbling sensation on my cervix throughout the day. Feels like baby is blowing bubbles there but obviously isn't.

Thanks for all the extra info on injections an delayed cord clamping. I've decided to delay the cord clamping and see how I go with the placenta. I had left over placenta with ds1 which I was unaware of until it appeared a few days later on my sanitary towel. Scariest moment of my life. That was caused by a student doctor pulling on the cord while the MW yelled "Noooo!" Better remember to refuse student doctors on my birth plan if nothing else.

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 09/01/2014 03:02

So sorry to hear about your mum Littleen :(

I'm sat up with DS as he's been having nightmares and coughing fits since 1am. I just want to be asleep, feeling so rough myself with cold and UTI. Hope you're all asleep x

marzipanned · 09/01/2014 03:18

I'm awake. And having hiccups right at the top of my bump. I guess she definitely is breech then. Bummed .

Sorry you are feeling so rough, really hope the antibiotics kick in soon.

DawnOfTheDee · 09/01/2014 03:58

Hello insomniacs. lastnight hpe you and your ds are managing to get some rest now x

littleen sorry to hear about your mum. Echo what others have said and hope you get some quality time with her and she gets to meet your lo. Sending virtual hugs your way x

DawnOfTheDee · 09/01/2014 04:06

It's weird how it's the same time every night isn't it barebranches?

I'm sat downstairs wondering what to eat and flipping through the netflix menu indecisively.

DD is at cm tomorrow so hopefully i can catch up on sleep in the morning with a little nap. Then in the afternoon i'm going for a pre-pregnancy pamper thing that dh bought me for christmas. Looking forward to it but i'm a bit worried i'll just fall asleep....

Thingymajigs · 09/01/2014 06:48

Good morning insomniacs. This baby has decided to add spin classes, kickboxing and gymnastics to his routine from 8pm-4am so I was wide awake too. I don't know if this caused my hunger at 2am but I refuse to get up in the cold to eat, I already spend most of my day grazing like a prize cow.

pettyprudence · 09/01/2014 07:18

ive been up, on and off since 3:30. my digestive system/stomach/bum is not happy (sorry if tmi!) and it's making my bump and back ache. was just getting back to sleep when ds woke up (obvs). dh is away so going to keep my fingers crossed the cm can take ds for the day and then spend some time in bed Grin

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 09/01/2014 07:45

Oh lots of you were up Confused

DS refused to sleep between 1 and 5.50. So today I predict problems as we are both exhausted and I guess he's too tired to send to preschool. He's totally given up naps too unless you force one with a long drive, which I don't fancy doing when I'm this tired.

It's always the same, his worst nights sleeps always coincide with me most needing a rest.

Sassy20 · 09/01/2014 08:16

Haarlem - with dd my mucus plug was clear jelly like with bloody strings in it. Hope that helps. It can go a few weeks in advance though so nothing to worry about.

Litleen - sorry to hear about your Mum. X

jazzcat28 · 09/01/2014 08:17

littleen sensing virtual hugs to you today Flowers

cubano hopefully the chat with your head has reassured you that getting signed off isn't going to be a big problem and hope that gives you the rest you sound like you need.

Went to our first nct class last night. Eight couples in all and couldn't spot any oddballs and got good vibes off 4 or 5 of the other mums so hoping there's at least a couple who will be up for meeting during ml. Slight daunted when we revealed our EDDs as ours is due 2nd in the group with three due in march! Made it all seem rather real again. The subject matter was all about baby positioning and spinning babies site was quoted. DH, who has so far been dismissing my stressing about breech position, had a lightbulb moment when the leader demonstrated a baby trying to fit through a plastic pelvis. He came home and demanded I sit on my gym ball for 20mins!

34wk midwife appt this afternoon when I'm sure she'll confirm it's still breech.

Got about 4hrs sleep so hoping for a nap later on!
