Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
allduffedup · 30/12/2013 17:28

Hi all, mind if I join you on here? I'm 5+6 pregnant with DC1, due date is 27th August. I'm 30 years old.

Feel like a lot of you are quite ahead of me here! The GP referred me straight to the midwife without an appointment, so my first appointment (booking) will be at 8 weeks.

No symptoms here yet except sore boobs. Was expecting the morning sickness to have arrived by now but it hasn't.

Has anyone else told their family and friends yet? I told my mum at Christmas, because it was too difficult and stressful to hide the fact I wasn't drinking for a whole 5 days! I wish it hadn't been necessary though as it was a bit too early considering we'd only just found out ourselves.

mssleepyhead · 30/12/2013 17:33

Allduffedup - hello! In a very similar place - I think I'm also due 27th August (although dates TBC) and we also nervously told parents at Christmas, far too early for us too! Also no sickness yet, just sore boobs and an occasionally sore or swollen tummy. Oh - and TIRED. Nice to have you around!

Walber139 · 30/12/2013 17:33

I've told a handful of people, come to realise that I need the support. I can talk about how scared I am & if anything goes wrong again then they already know I'm pregnant...

HungryHorace · 30/12/2013 17:38

Walber, they're unlikely to try to listen until 16 weeks, and even then they will warn you that they might not be able to find it and if they can't, you can't have a scan.

Hi Duffed! Morning sickness typically starts from about 6-7 ish weeks. And some people don't get it at all, so maybe you won't!

I've been feeling absolutely hideous all day today. MiL came round to help with DD while I retched my guts up upstairs. Lovely stuff, eh?! :-/

It's round ligament pain day today too. Sigh!

DH doesn't want to have a private scan this time, so it'll be 4 weeks today when we get to see our little bean.

HalfPintPickle · 30/12/2013 17:50

Welcome Duffed :) I'm a day behind you and mssleepy. I've told parents and my sister but am not telling anyone else until we've had the scan at 12 weeks. Guessing mid feb by my dates.

Sore boobs are a big factor here, hoping to dodge the morning sickness though! watch to space

Hope you feel better soon Horace - upchucking is the worst! :(

My boobs still aren't that sore, Half pint. Just growing at a rapid rate of knots.

With DD I was sick from 7-17 weeks then from 35-40 weeks, though I didn't throw up the last few weeks, just felt ropey as hell!

miserywaterfall · 30/12/2013 18:08

My boobs are aching this week, it's making sleeping on my tummy a nightmare... but probably best I break that habit now before bump gets too big!

Feelingfatty · 30/12/2013 18:14

Great news about scans ladies! I can't wait until mine in a few weeks but also very nervous!

Welcome new ladies!!

I have felt very ropey today. Nearly told my friend as kept yawning and felt very sick during play date! She knew we were ttc but managed not to blurt it out! Smile

miserywaterfall · 30/12/2013 18:21

Woooo, 3 weeks tomorrow til my scan! Hoping it flies by!

Anyone have any nice New Years Eve/day plans? Smile

LakeOfDreams · 30/12/2013 18:33

MS has really hit over the last few days doesn't help that I'm working a lot of nights at the moment. Had to tell a few people at work as they were eating Doritos and I had to get them to move as I was worried I was going to be sick. Also had a lot of weird things making me sick that never normally bother me like changing nappies at work and snot. Not good when it seems to be a bad year for bronchiolitis and pneumonias!

I'm currently 7+1 but think they'll date me back a bit. Still so worried all the time about bad things you hear feels like a long time till I get to see a baby in there and don't think I'll really believe it until I do.

Do any of you have varicose veins an have any advice? I've had bad veins since I was about 12. I got some surgical stockings but struggle to fin a good suspender belt to keep them up especially as I work 12.5 hour shifts as a nurse so I'm on my feet a lot. My legs are becoming really painful already, I've spent loads on some support tights which are helping a bit but I seem to go through them so fast!!

Missvaughan85 · 30/12/2013 18:51

Girls having a panic, I did some wallpapering in my salon yesterday and I've just realise it's got a fungicide in. Is this dangerous. My DH thinks I'm being refi culprits as when I was pregnant with first we were doing our house up and there was wallpaper paste there then when I helped my mum do it. Am I being crazy??? Don't feel ill. Just more sickness today. Feeling fine now. Argh!!! I've been so good all weekend and I've not worried and now my brain has gone into over drive!!!!

Missvaughan85 · 30/12/2013 18:51

Sorry that should of said DH thinks I'm being crazy!!!

HalfPintPickle · 30/12/2013 18:57

I'm pretty sure you'll be fine missvaughn. Unless you were eating it in some weird craving kinda way! ;)

It's so hard not to panic though. Once you get your mind fixated on something, that's it. So I know how you feel. Try not to think about it and try and kick back and relax!

That made me laugh halfpint Grin

Im sure you will be fine missv....just dont lick the walls Wink

Missvaughan85 · 30/12/2013 19:18

I don't know why I am as I've stripped wallpaper and put wallpaper up in last pregnancy. My DH has just asked why are you so worried this time. I actually have no idea. I think my age and naivity played a big part last time.
On a brighter note, I've bought a steam mop today!!! Just done kitchen floor!!!

WeeJo08 · 30/12/2013 19:25

Feels very wrong that my second ever post on this thread isn't something profound/meaningful/supportive but I'm not feeling very profound/meaningful/supportive, I'm just feeling ^%#*ing constipated!!!!

Well, at least I got that out of my system. That's the only thing that's used the exit recently, mind you. Confused

RoseHoney · 30/12/2013 19:39

Can I just puke already?! ConfusedConfused
Had horrible nausea since Xmas eve and honestly I feel horrific. OH ordered us a takeaway last night, my favourite thing ever - butter chicken, I took one bite and I was retching.
Ended up having a glass of water and going to bed. Hmm

Now I'm sat next to my youngest sons cot, holding his hand while he fails to sleep and my eldest is asking me why the world is round, why does his milk come from a cow but his brothers came from mummy, why does daddy call him a sausage. Etc.
Meanwhile, my risotto is cooking away and according to my lovely other half it tastes amazing.
Maybe I'll get to test it myself before midnight lol.

Ahhhh why am I having another one again?! Haha.

On a positive note, 7 weeks today Grin 6 weeks tomorrow until the big scan!

Missvaughan85 · 30/12/2013 20:36

Weejo, same here, I took one look at the prune juice and just thought no. I'll do more fruit and liquids!!!

CountdownBegins · 30/12/2013 20:39

Same weejo- it's horrible. Also the constant wretching and feeling like I've got a monster hangover...

RoseHoney · 30/12/2013 20:44

Still sat next to the cot. He's still refusing to sleep. At least biggest boy is sparko. Loll

Feelingfatty · 30/12/2013 20:45

Rose honey how old is dc? Sounds hard work Shock bringing it all back to me!!!

lucyfluff · 30/12/2013 21:03

Im with you in spirit rosehoney! My little monkey wont go to sleep unless he can pull my hair through the cot bars......yes I know this is a bad routine Hmm just hoping it stops when we get him a toddler bed......

CrispCraver · 30/12/2013 21:04

Hi everyone, bit of déjà vu here; am 8+3, due date (I think) is 8/8 and I have a 5.5 month old DD Shock. Am worried as not many symptoms, but still partially BF DD so no rapid boob growth this time! Maybe it's natures way of cutting me some slack. Hoping for an early scan in next week or so as am 'high risk' this time. Fingers crossed.

Lakeofdreams, I had v bad varicose veins last year, expecting them again. Hold up Stockings and maternity tights are the best bet, really tight surgical grade ones not the 'maternity/support' stockings in the shops, they were rubbish for me. I used [pebbleuk.com],they sell maternity tights and hold ups in varying compression gradings and were a bit pricey but lasted well, I hope to be wearing them again very soon!

RoseHoney · 30/12/2013 21:08

Eldest is 4 and youngest is 2 this week.
I'm not one for sleep training so some may say I've built a rod for my own back by doing it this way lol. We co slept until 18 months and he was breastfed until 22 months, he rarely sleeps through but usually goes to bed fine on his own, he was poorly a few weeks ago though and was back in my bed so starting all over again getting him back into his lol.
I just want my risotto and eastenders, what a saddo lol.
