its been quiet on here last few days how are you all

roodles84 · 05/03/2014 07:31

I'm now on mat leave and have finally started shopping! Yesterday was fabric for the nursery curtains and a mega-shop in Boots. Today's target: Kiddicare!

ChurrosConChocolate · 05/03/2014 07:56

Welcome countdown!

Vikki, yes, it has been quiet! What's everyone up to? How are you?

roodles hurrah for mat leave and baby shopping! Don't get too carried away Wink

I'm ok but DH is away on a course all week and typically DS has gone down with a cold so is a bit grumpy and didn't sleep well last night. Think I'm getting it too... Sad

Cannotbelieveit · 05/03/2014 08:17

Hey everyone!

Now the piles are on the mend I now have an ear and throat infection! Yay!

Apart from that feeling ok. Positive VBAC appt at the hospital yesterday. And my hosp bag 99% done and baby's is completely done.

32+4 Grin

Trinpy · 05/03/2014 10:11

I've not been posting as much recently because I've been so busy trying to get myself sorted out before the baby comes. Is anyone else getting a bit panicky now April is so near?

roodles enjoy the kiddiecare shop. Makes it all seem so much more real when you get down to the serious shopping!

churros hope your Dh hasn't given you his cold!

Cannot poor you. Sounds like you're getting everything at once. Hope you feel better soon. Very impressed at the hospital bags being done already.

The furniture for the baby's room arrived yesterday. Nice to finally have somewhere to put all the baby stuff that's been collecting in big plastic boxes under our bed over the past few months. Everything looks so beautiful and organised now, it seems a shame to let a baby in there to mess it up Grin .

35+5 (and still not done hospital bag)

Cannotbelieveit · 05/03/2014 11:17

Trinpy I've still got to get new drawers from ikea as it has to fit ds1's clothes in as well as new baby's! Plus have wall art to put up in the nursery (they will be sharing eventually after new baby is 6 months)

Hubby has to go and collect the cotbed on Sunday from Manchester (we are in Stratford) and his clutch has just gone! Could have done without thatConfused And I just need the mattress, breathable cot wrap, and mattress protector ( though those things aren't obviously needed straight away anyway but was hoping to use the Moses in the living room and then just put the Moses in the cot at night so he gets used to the cot.

NakedMum33And3rd · 05/03/2014 14:50

I've just packed my hospital bag! everything in apart from snacks!
Can't believe it's April next month!
I think my DS is aware that something is about to change. He is really playing up at the mo. Nap times have become battles! So tired! I really need him to take his naps so I can have one too!!!

mamapants · 05/03/2014 17:29

Seems everyone is thinking of hospital bags. I have only picked up a couple of things so far; some tiny nappies, cotton wool, breast pads and that's it so far I think.
Have got the extra seat for my pram and an extra big raincover and some new muslins. Will need to get everything else out of the boxes in the spare room ready. But won't need to buy much new.
DS has actually slept through twice this week! So might possibly get some sleep before new baby arrives which would be amazing.
Down to 3 days a week at work from next week.
And that's about it for me.

Vikkijayne2507 · 05/03/2014 18:23

hello all churros I have a horrible cold which is making me very lathgic im hoping it's good to get now rather than in a few weeks when baby could be here. 35 weeks today. I have been getting my last bits for hospital bag but I still have quite a few bits to get for longer term I don't even own any muslin squares and we're thinking of getting a small cot for our bedroom which mil will help us with. The nursery needs painting fil will help abd mil has said she'll get me a chair that I really wanted for breastfeeding and later reading and bedtime routine. we've seen the changing table we want and ive got all 0 and 0-1 clothes with a few 0-3 month clothes and a couple of 3-6 month clothes I got in the sales which were cute and cheap.
im currently in the hairdressers o haven't been since I got my bfp so im treating myself before the big event so I have a few months of not awful hair even if rest of me does with a new born

LeeHandy · 05/03/2014 22:52

I still haven't started my hospital bags! and I am 36+3. Shock I must get it done this weekend!
welcome countdown! I have found antenatal classes pretty useful with lots of things that I didn't know about or hadn't thought about discussed. But I have heard that some classes can be a bit preachy and annoying. so pick and choose! and feel free to ignore anything you don't like the sound of!
happy anniversary, Cannot! sorry you're having such a rubbish round of poor health!

Cannotbelieveit · 05/03/2014 23:11

Thanks Lee! I'm not usually an ill person at all! I just think that 2 pregnancies in 2 years has took it out of me!!

Got the last 3 bits for my bag today so it is finally done. Just ds1's room/nursery to do now. Shock

BlessedAssurance · 06/03/2014 07:48

vikki what a pain. A cold is the last thing a pregnant woman needs, poor you. Hope it gets better soon.
mama does one need breadtpads? Did not know about that one. Will nowget some and when does one use them?

BlessedAssurance · 06/03/2014 07:53

cannot how did you get rid of piles? Arggh, pregnancy has so many things no one tells you about until it's too late...

Cannotbelieveit · 06/03/2014 08:35

Blessed mine were very painful and the over the counter stuff didn't work! I would still buy the wipes that have witch hazel on them much nicer wiping with them than tissue

The GP gave me an anaesthetic gel that numbed them so I couldn't feel it! Ask for that if you're in pain x

Yep no one mentions the glam parts of pregnancy, would probably put someone ladies off if they knew! Wink

Nakedmum33and3rd · 06/03/2014 09:10

Oh yen pregnancy is totally glam! I keep wetting myself every time I sneeze! Sexy huh?!

I've got my midwife app today and I have to wee in one of those containers. I can't see past my bump, how on earth am I gonna get it in that tiny pot!

BlessedAssurance · 06/03/2014 12:59

naked tell me about itGrin. How is one supposed to pee in those small bottles is beyond me. I use a "beaker"Smile then transfer to the tiny bottle at home and bring it to the appointment. At my doctor's they have big ones though.
cannot mine don't hurt, just soft and the fact that they are there does not feel right,iykwim...Maybe i will just leave it,i have 2 more weeks so not that long..

37+4

Cannotbelieveit · 06/03/2014 13:21

If they don't hurt then the over the counter stuff will probably work to shrink them xx

BlessedAssurance · 06/03/2014 13:30

Thanks Cannot..

Vikkijayne2507 · 06/03/2014 13:39

with my cold I keep coughing as I cant breathe well due to nose being blocked and nothing is shifting it and Im having the same peeing problem not much but its so horrible and i feel so yucky ergh but the weather over here in portugal is beautiful sunshine and its getting warm so I am gunna go and sit in the sun in the park with a book for a few hours I think the sun will be good for me fresh air and all that

35 + 1 weeks

ChurrosConChocolate · 06/03/2014 14:16

cannot sounds like you are getting one thing on top of the other! Hopefully this means you are getting it all out of the way and you'll be fighting fit by the time the baby arrives! Glad the VBAC appt went well.

naked I have to lie down with my DS to get him to nap. Which is great at the moment as I get to have a rest too but not sure how it is going to work when the baby gets here!

Vikki hope the sunshine fixes your cold! Beautiful day here too so I'm finally getting some washing done.

Ok everyone, I know I should remember, but what are you putting in your hospital bags. All I'm fixated on for mine is sweets as this is all I wanted to eat during labour last time. Grin I'm sure there is other stuff I'll need though...?!

Cannotbelieveit · 06/03/2014 15:33

Churros my bag is

Big knickers
Nursing bra
Pj's
Nighties
Socks
Slippers
Toiletries/makeup
Breast pads
Maternity pads
Drinks and snacks
Camera/battery

Thats the main bits x

Cannotbelieveit · 06/03/2014 15:34

Oh and going home clothes. Just taking leggings and long jumper x

BlessedAssurance · 06/03/2014 16:21

My hospital bag contains the same things as cannot minus breast pads and maternity pads. We get maternity pads at the hospital so i won't need to pack mine.

Misty9 · 06/03/2014 19:09

Evening all :)

I've finally started on my labour bag (hoping for home birth) but all I bought from Boots was maternity pads and mini toiletries and sunglasses Grin
Thanks for the above lists - I'll get some cheap black knickers from primark and a button down shirt/nightie. Other than that, I think it's just stuff for the baby I need to add. Needed a new bag for it all and picked up the Sport Relief bag in sainsburys today. It's really colourful :)

SPD still grumbling but antenatal Pilates is really helping I think. Been getting pains today where she's lodging various limbs under my ribs Shock everyone and their dog is telling me I'll go early, due to how low I'm carrying, but then they said that last time and he was dragged out at +5! I'm happy for her to stay put a few more weeks as I'm not entirely sure I'm ready for two...

35+1

BlessedAssurance · 06/03/2014 21:24

misty i am Grin at the sunglasses. Please do tell how you intend to use them during labour, i am thinking you will go James Bond style, however wearing nothing but your glassesSmile. Joking i know you bought them for a sunny day in the near future..
