Trinpy · 23/01/2014 14:48

that should have been comes not does. Sounded like I was expecting the baby to do my essays for me!

LightTripper · 23/01/2014 23:57

vikki I actually checked with my midwife when she said 10 movements a day, what if you feel 10 movements in half an hour and that's it, is that OK, and she said that was fine. She said if you are having a busy day you may not feel anything, and if you don't feel anything and are worried then sit down quietly for an hour or two (not sure quite how you do that!) and you should feel something (and if not to call them)

So in short if you felt 10 movements in an hour that should be fine!

jen2014 · 24/01/2014 10:59

Welcome mrs and smiles!
Can't believe you're finishing a uni course trinpy - I don't know how you find the time and motivation! Feels like time is dragging, won't see my midwife for another 2 weeks - it seems like ages between the 16 and 28 week appts of 2nd pregnancy. I know I shouldn't wish the time away but I just can't wait! My friend is due in 2 weeks so that prob doesn't help.
I have a crib from a friend, and hopefully getting a chest of drawers and wardrobe from another friend today though we still don't have anywhere to put them as nursery is going into current home study which DH needs to clear out! Hopefully he'll do that soon and I can make a start on painting, unpacking clothes etc, which will help with the itchy feet!
Can't decide on nursery theme - have fallen in love with a Winnie the Pooh set in white and bright primary colours but added all together (curtains, bedding, cushions etc) is way more than we can afford. Plus the baby will be in our room for first few weeks anyway so should I just wait for little one to arrive, see what gender it is then choose? Hmmm... Hmm

Re: nursery decoration, have you seen those wall decals you can get? They are really good because when your little one becomes a bigger one you can change them or remove them very easily! My friend has some great jungle ones, and my OH and I are kind of smitten with this one...
www.johnlewis.com/jomoval-scroll-tree-wall-stickers/p231525373

So cute! And the JL picture is even roughly the colour we are painting the room, so I can totally imagine it there now (even though, of course, the room isn't actually painted yet, and we don't actually have any furniture for it yet - but you know, have to get the really important stuff like wall stickers sorted out first).

My OH is having a little op at the moment (tiny thing but general anaesthetic which always makes me nervous) and I am going through a paranoid moment ... really want it to be over and him out and home safe NOW NOW NOW!!! I am distracting myself with spreadsheets, not very succesfully (and MN, obv.)

Misty9 · 24/01/2014 13:33

Hey all,
Re room stickers, I'd definitely recommend ones from Becky and lolo website - we got the jungle animals and they are definitely repositionable as they graced the walls of four different houses!
Haven't figured out logistics of new baby beyond it sleeping in our bedroom for first 6 months, so will tackle that one when we need to. I need to get a bedside crib sorted though.

SPD has worsened massively since yesterday and I can hardly move today :( going down the stairs is agony so the toddler is having to help me by fetching things! Hopefully it'll sort itself out in the next couple of days as I'm not sure what I'll do if it's like this until she's born Confused

I've decided my frequent Braxton hicks are probably down to dehydration...so trying to up the water intake. Never been good at drinking enough though.

Any tips for getting baby head down? I want a home birth but if she continues to present as transverse then that's out the window! Will pump up the ball when I can find the stopper thingy, but is that enough?

prettyinpink90 · 24/01/2014 15:19

light we are also thinking of getting the tree decals for the nursery, they look lovely on the photographs! I just can't decide on a colour scheme now.
At our 4D scan last weekend we were told out baby weighed around 2lb 3oz, this sounds really small and now I'm worrying I'm not giving her enough of what she needs. Does anyone know what the average weight is around 27/28 weeks?

28 weeks today Smile

Trinpy · 24/01/2014 15:32

pretty the pregnancy app on my phone says 900g for 27 weeks and just over 1kg for 28 weeks. 1kg = 2lb 3oz, so sounds like your baby is spot on Smile . It sounds tiny but they have a big growth spurt a bit later on (I think around 31/32 weeks?) and plump up ready to be born.

prettyinpink90 · 24/01/2014 21:15

Thank you trinpy that has eased my worries Smile

light hope your OH operation went ok?

jen2014 · 24/01/2014 22:17

Thanks for the ideas, those wall stickers sound brilliant - I like the car racing ones for DS room! I didn't realise they were transferable but if they can survive 4 house moves they must be!
pretty I have 2 close friends who had their babies at 31 weeks who weighed 3lb 1oz and 3lb 10oz each so 2lb 3oz sounds fine for 28 weeks. As trinpy says they have a big growth spurt later on, I think that's where much of our later weight gain goes.

LightTripper · 25/01/2014 00:07

Thanks, OH op went fine! He was home by lunchtime and not in too much pain, so all good.

Painting starts a week on Monday... Will be a real pain, but really looking forward to having it done so we can get properly sorted!

This weekend is for work and tax return though :-(

BunnyBump1 · 25/01/2014 11:40

Hi pretty, At my 25 + 4 weeks scan baby weighed 1lb 14 oz and i was told it is within the range. so 2lb 3oz seems to be right for 28 weeks.

ChurrosConChocolate · 25/01/2014 14:32

Light glad your OH's op went well! I'm (supposed to be) getting work done this weekend too but currently procrastinating...

misty Sorry to hear SPD is getting worse Sad have you seen anyone for it? I wouldn't worry too much about the position yet, transverse is probably fine at the moment but have a look at the spinning babies website if you want some ideas on how to get them to move.

trinpy yeah, I'm prepared for the birth but less so for the actual baby! Need to start thinking about that soon.... Good you have Uni stuff to keep you busy, try and get as much done as you can while you get the chance!

Vikki apparently the guidelines on movements have changed and they don't say 10 movements anymore, just note what is normal for your baby and report any unusual changes. The count the kicks website is useful.

My DS has some jungle wall stickers in his room, they look really good, better than I expected really (although he did manage to remove one and ruin it the first day they were up!)

Saw consultant yesterday. Everything looking good and they have give me the green light to go the Birth Centre in the first instance! YAY! Grin They will be overly cautious about transferring me if anything is not going well though, and I still have to hope the rest of the pregnancy goes well and baby gets in a good position, I don't need inducing, etc but fingers crossed I can have a nice, natural waterbirth in the ever so lovely MLU Smile

Hi all. Have been lurking for a while. It seems a few of us are worrying about thes size og our little ones and in my case my MW told me the baby might be big for my frame!! Ha? I did not know. I just assumed all women carry babies and should be able to give birth, all the crap i have read that says our bodies are made for this. So now i might end up with another c- section again, not a problem as long as my little one comes out...Is it normal?

patsy375 · 25/01/2014 20:02

Is what normal blessed?

LeeHandy · 26/01/2014 09:41

Hi everyone,

I had a rough couple of days with very little sleep and it was lovely to sleep 9 hours straight last night.

On nursery decorating, I bought the jomoval farmyard animals set and they are all much cheaper on Amazon if anyone hasn't bought them yet but plans to. I haven't put them up yet because it says to wait three weeks if the room is freshly painted. Maybe I will do it today.

Yesterday was my friend's baby shower and it went really well. my shower is in 2 weeks so looking forward to that now. Smile

I had my 30 week appointment and I measured 29 cm so just about average. the good news was that baby has already turned so I don't have to worry about breech.
my friend's baby is breech though and she is planning on trying a Chinese medicine treatment where they burn some incense under the soles of the feet and she has been told it has a 70% success rate! I hope it works.

misty sorry to hear your Spd was worse. take care!

Just checking in ladies!

Only 7 more shifts at work now and last day of work is feb 9th!!

Back still aching and still feeling like I've been kicked down below Confused

27+1 tho! 3 months today baby is due!Grin

Misty9 · 26/01/2014 12:30

Thanks for the sympathy ladies :)
churros I see an osteopath but as I'm not that misaligned, there's not a lot more she can do.

Thankfully it's a LOT better today. The night before last as I went to lie down in bed I was in excruciating pain and could barely move :( dh was less than sympathetic too. Not sure what aggravated it so, but glad it's resolved a bit.

blessed I think in general your body does grow a baby of a size which you can birth - but your other half's genes play a large part, literally! In our case, I was 6lb something but dh was a 10lb baby Shock so ds ended up being 9lb. However, accurately detecting a baby's size before birth is notoriously difficult, so I wouldn't worry too much just yet.

trinpy I was finishing my doctorate when pregnant with ds and I definitely recommend getting as much done before the birth as possible! Saying that, I found it very hard to concentrate and left my amendments until he was born...when my motivation disappeared completely. Got it done eventually though. Good luck!

Am quite enjoying being unemployed again Grin though ds is keeping me busy. He's started cuddling the bump and saying "sister" which melts our hearts :)

LightTripper · 26/01/2014 18:36

Oh Misty ... I just almost had a small tear when I read about your DS... that is so sweet!!!

I have been working all weekend, and haven't even tackled the tax return yet. Ah well, that will have to be in front of the TV tonight with a well deserved glass of vino. Hmmm... bugger.

Sorry to hear about everybody's aches and pains. Feeling very lucky as mine are pretty much better (had better find some wood to touch!) Have just realised I am less than 3 months to go too!!! Does that mean I'm officially third trimester? That sounds scary...

LT xx

Trinpy · 26/01/2014 19:39

Glad youre feeling better today misty. It's a shame your dh wasn't more sympathetic. I (only half jokingly) suggested to my dh that I kick him in the balls from time to time so he can understand what spd feels like. He got a lot more
sympathetic after that Grin . Hope you can get plenty of rest though I know it must be difficult if you've got ds to look after. I'm very impressed that you finished your doctorate while pregnant. Everytime I start procrastinating I imagine being snuggled up on the sofa with my newborn in April knowing the degree work is all done. It's been a great motivator so far!

30+2

Misty9 · 26/01/2014 21:11

You sound more motivated than I was :)
I would suggest that to dh, but after bringing up the vasectomy topic again I think he's feeling a bit sensitive about his balls! Grin I've ordered a snoozle maternity sheet so hopefully that'll help.

Inglori0us · 26/01/2014 22:37

Hello all.
eBay is great for wall stickers. My dd has trees, flowers and birds and it looks ace and cost about £20 to do the whole room. Just make sure the seller is in uk if you're in a rush. I ordered a set from Hong Kong and they took 6 weeks to come.

I've got the dreaded GTT tomorrow so I'm fasting now til at least 11.30am. :(
Also having a growth scan tomorrow as measuring large for dates. Fingers crossed all's ok.

iloveweetos · 26/01/2014 23:12

Hi everyone! Just checking in to see how everyone is :)
Starting to feel worried about everything at the moment. From the house to the birth to bonding. Gosh just want her here already!!! But at the same time not yet! Lol
