Another sick day for me thanks to this bloody cold! Got an appointment with nurse at my GPs later this morning, just have no idea what I can take for sore throats and coughs and how to better protect myself from getting another one. This one has been on/off for over two weeks now

Liquidambar · 11/11/2013 09:23

Welcome newbies Smile

tronbear I'm sorry to hear about the lump. It is always a worry but most cases in nothing to worry about. I have been referred to the breast clinic twice. in one of the times the biopsy was inconclusive so I had to return. but it was a just a cyst.

Didn't sleep much last night and have a funny tummy today. started working at 8 and to visits to the loo (sorry tmi)

Can't check the name on my mobile but good luck for today's scans.

GinandStripes · 11/11/2013 09:37

carks my GP advised paracetamol for sore throats, I know you shouldn't take ibuprofen. So I suppose any cough medicines that contain paracetamol only are okay but don't quote me on that :/

Apart from that it's the usual, rest, fluids, vitamin c.

Hope you feel better soon. X

cheesysmile · 11/11/2013 09:40

Morning all Smile

Wispa, Gilly how exciting ... Can't wait for mine, its two weeks today now!

So I've taken the day off poorly today, this cold is really taking its toll more than normal and i just couldn't face work, all i want to do is sleep. Do you think pregnancy makes it harder to get over things like colds?

Carks if you find out any useful tips from the nurse let me know. Hope you feel better soon.

MarlenaGru · 11/11/2013 10:24

carks and cheesy is it not the pregnacold? Technically pregnancy rhinitis but essentially the snots caused by your body creating excess mucus. I have had it for about 4 weeks and don't expect it to clear off too soon!

gilly good luck! Do you know where to go at the hospital? I am quite scared I will get horribly lost as it is such a big building! 4 more weeks for me but booking in tomorrow which is exciting.

Nearly fainted on the train this morning as it was taking hours to go anyway. Some kind man gave me a seat. I must email about a badge ASAP!

Snowlet · 11/11/2013 10:43

oh wow, loads to catch up on

Welcome to new BFPs :) and good luck with scans and so sorry for those with continued sickness, I'm defo in that club too

cheesy I felt like my cold would never go, took days and days when normally I fight that stuff off with ease.... another joy of pregnancy?

Was reading some 10 week description or the other, and it said the baby was the size of a kumquat, hehe

GinandStripes · 11/11/2013 10:58

ooh Snowlet I much prefer Kumquat to Prune. Smile

GinandStripes · 11/11/2013 11:03

oh dear - I just had a proper big weep to the two minutes silence. Sad

LadyGoneGaga · 11/11/2013 11:39

Had my scan, one healthy little bean with a strong heartbeat Grin. Measuring a little ahead of where I thought (7+4) so now due 26th June. But the measurements are so tiny at this point could easily be a couple of days either way.

Very, very relieved. Had a cry as soon as we saw the heartbeat. Makes all the ill feelings totally worth it.

Welcome to all the newbies!

superlambanana · 11/11/2013 11:46

Hooray for Lady! Smile

Bezzabelle · 11/11/2013 11:54

Morning all, I am considering going back to GP this week and asking for a 'fit note' to allow me to do back to work just in the afternoons. Have been signed off for five weeks so far with hg and got another 3 weeks on the sick note. However, I feel with the meds, b6 and acupuncture, I have it more under control now. Mornings are still horrendous but have been feeling better by lunchtime and am climbing the walls at home so thinking I could just do a couple hours in the afternoon to try and get my caseload back in order before I go back properly. Bit worried I will go backwards though....

Gilly and sick...9 days to go!!!

MarlenaGru · 11/11/2013 12:01

Congratulations lady

Cherryjellybean · 11/11/2013 12:14

Fantastic news ladyYou have the same due date as me :)

Marlena its great that there are some good ones on the trains and tubes that do offer seats. Hope your feeling a bit less faint now.

I had hg in my last pregnancy, and I think it might be showing its ugly face in this pregnancy :( I have a funeral on the weekend and I have no idea how I am going to cope with the 2 hour drive, with the sickness and without being an emotional wreck the whole day. No one knows I'm pregnant yet, and it would not be the best time for everyone to find out.

Welcome to all the new people!

jaykay987 · 11/11/2013 12:18

Congrats on the scan lady!

I called in sick. Feel so guilty. But I can't function. I've only just woken up! I was so tired as last night I kept waking up cause I thought I was going to be sick (but never managed it).

Had an argument with DH last night (not a regular occurrence in this house) - wonder if the sickness is ms or stress related? I got myself worked up even though we fell out about something completely pointless!
He has been lovely today though...and he doesn't normally do well at looking after me when normally illGrin. He clearly feels some responsibility when it comes to BFP relates illness!

It's exciting the 12 week scans are starting soon! Grin

Angelina77 · 11/11/2013 12:25

Hi, I suppose it's about time I joined up.

I'm due on June 26th (7 + 4 today). I had a 7 week scan last week (for reassurance - 2 MCs) and I've seen a my blob with a heartbeat :) Still bricking it for the 12 week nuchal scan (12/12). I'd have a scan every week if I could afford it.

Suffering quite badly with nausea, headaches and tiredness. Feels like I'm in the worst condition of my life!

SicknSpan · 11/11/2013 12:48

Welcome angelina and tronbear and any other new folk I've missed. Please do cut and paste the roll call further up thread and add yourself on!

Had some fantastic news over the weekend, a dear friend who has suffered a number of recurrent miscarriages bus currently 14 weeks pregnant. They've never made it this far before so I'm absolutely thrilled for her cautiously so at her request of course.I had to share the fact that I'm expecting first, as had to duck out of a gig we'd arranged to go to - she then said it was fine as they weren't sure they could make it as she was pg too! Such happy news.

MarlenaGru · 11/11/2013 13:00

That is lovely sick

I have given up for today. Felt fuzzy and cold and achy so am on the train home. Hate being pathetic but it isn't just me this time!

Carks31 · 11/11/2013 13:01

Lots of sickly ladies out there, fingers crossed for us all it passes soon.

Nurse wasn't much use. Advice essentially plenty of rest, clear fluids and paracetamol. When I asked how I can help avoid this cycle of colds and bugs other than making sure I'm getting fruit and veg down me, her useful reply was "avoid going near people who are ill". Bless. I suffered rhinitis pre-pregnancy but my usual medications of anti-histamines and anti-inflammatories are out of the window, so it's potentially that.

Good to see some good news - congratualtions ladygonegaga and such lovely news sicknspan

wispaxmas · 11/11/2013 13:38

carks, yeah, I'm suffering from my second cold of this pregnancy already, but luckily it's not as bad as the first one I had, which I probably took about 2-3 weeks to get over. So far, this has been a couple days and it's already starting to ease. I did cave and have a benadryl the last couple nights, as it's safe during the 1st trimester. Of course, the added benefit of it is that it makes me ridiculously drowsy, so I've been getting really good nights' sleep, which can only help. I know it's just an antihistamine and not a decongestant, but it does help dry up my running-like-a-faucet nose!

wispaxmas · 11/11/2013 13:39

Oh, and on a completely unrelated note, I've discovered that I absolutely love beans on toast. And apparently beans are one of the top 10 foods to eat when pregnant; result!

Stacks · 11/11/2013 13:44

I know I should be glad I'm only feeling nauseous, but I'm sick fed up of it now :( I also don't have a commute and can nap during the day, as long as my DS does. Still, being pg and a SAHM to a 10m DS is harder than I ever imagined. How will I manage with a newborn and 18m DS?

Glad to hear about some positive scans, 12w scans approaching, and newbies joining.

clairesmiles · 11/11/2013 14:01

Hi,

Just getting in on the new thread.

I'm due on 14th of June but i need to call up to make my booking appt, which should be next week as i should be 10 weeks then.

Can't wait for 12 week scan, it will feel REAL then i think!

xxx

Lmf679 · 11/11/2013 14:49

I just had a viability scan, am 8+1 today. Saw a strong heartbeat and everything seems to be as it should be. Due date not changed, still due on the 22nd. Very pleased! It's a relief to know it's all going as it should.
