Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Laying down fat stores to make sure you can support a pregnancy and breastfeeding, sadly, Mina! Also your hips will widen a bit ready for birth.

I seem to have popped out overnight. Yesterday, no bump. Today, bump. I guess this is the tummy muscles giving up the ghost after two previous big babies.

MinaLeeds · 22/11/2013 12:18

Thanks LadyGoneGaga. That makes it clearer. All I can say is I sure hope the butt doesn't get as big as all my aunts on my dad's side of the family and that it will shrink back. Otherwise I have NO hope of ever fitting into my clothes ever again. I'm sure DH won't mind though. Lol! He nearly had a heart attack when he realised my bra size had gone up by nearly a cup size in one week. The booby fairy has definitely been visiting! The body changes will take some getting used to I think. All this needing to pee all the time lark and nausea every evening and random cravings (boiled potatoes anyone?) is....different.

LadyGoneGaga · 22/11/2013 12:48

Well, everyone is different, Mina. All I can say is I gained a LOT of weight in last two pregnancies (5 stone!) and lost it all within 6 months with minimal effort both times. So best not to stress too much. Pregnancy is a bit of a rollercoaster but I reckon the first bit is the worst, it will settle down soon and things will feel better.

Good luck Penguin!

superlambanana · 22/11/2013 13:43

Good luck penguin Smile

I'm having a bit of a dilemma. I'm SO worried about going back to work next week as I'm not really feeling much better, though I haven't been sick for a few days which is progress think I'm just getting better at controlling it

My sick note runs until 25th so does that include Monday or is it up then? My boss isn't in today so I can't discuss it. The thought of getting on a train and doing my hour commute fills me with dread, as does staring at a screen all day, and I really don't feel ready, but I also feel really guilty at others having to pick up my work.

I really don't know what to do Sad

hackneybird · 22/11/2013 14:14

Mina how do you apply the bicarb to your hair to clean it? I'm intrigued!

Penguin13 · 22/11/2013 14:16

Oh super I really feel for you. Just a quick one as on my way to the scan but I Googled and a garage government website stated the dates on a fit note (newfangled terminology for sick note) should be inclusive so you should be back at work the day after the end date mentioned. Sorry no link - on a new phone but if you Google 'fit notes + end date' you should find the same advice.

Penguin13 · 22/11/2013 14:17

Garage government? Thanks autocorrect!

MinaLeeds · 22/11/2013 14:26

@ Hackneybird lots of fab info on this fantastic blog: www.crunchybetty.com/no-poo-to-you-too . She inspired me to go no poo and there's no going back!

*LadyGoneGaga I am so useless when it comes to weight loss. I find it really difficult to shift weight and have slowly gone up from being a size 10/12 to now plateauing at a size 14. I'm so scared that if I don't watch it I'll put on tons of weight and then never shift it. My mum took 2 years to lose the baby weight she put on after me and that was with lots and lots of exercise and healthy eating. We are just the same when it comes to our bodies but I don't have the discipline she does. :( So now I'm trying to eat as healthily as I can and thanking my lucky stars that all I've been craving is fruit and the fact I can't eat gluten means I haven't been able to gorge on chocolate hobnobs and danish pastries. I'm really hoping that I am able to continue in this way for as long as possible so that even if huge food cravings hit me later on in the pregnancy, the impact won't be quite so bad.

BEEwitched · 22/11/2013 14:56

Waiting for my GP appointment, scored a copy of Emma's Diary, pfffft! They're painting the doors, I might faint from the smell & fumes!

carrie105 · 22/11/2013 14:57

Mina, you are incredibly lucky with your cravings! I had fish and chips for lunch yesterday, and two scotch eggs the day before Blush. Im getting really worried about putting on weight too and have started to get very guilty about my awful diet. Im trying to be a lot better from today, had salad for lunch and Im making a home made veggie soup for dinner!

Congrats all those who have had scans!

When do people consider the start of the second Tri to be? I've read many different times between start of week 12 to the end of 13. I think Ill go with the start of week 14. 10 days to go...

LadyGoneGaga · 22/11/2013 15:10

Mina have you had your thyroid checked? Just a thought (as mine is underactive). I used to strugle to lose weight but much easier now I'm medicated. It's a really good start if you are eating loads of healthy stuff. Sadly my cravings are mostly about the white carbs (crumpets, muffins and the like!). And beige food.

I'd say the start of 14, carrie. But I'm hanging out for 12 weeks in the hope that will mark start of feeling better. 3 more weeks to go...

Penguin13 · 22/11/2013 15:18

Sad news for us I'm afraid. We just had our scan and discovered our baby stopped growing as early as five to six weeks. I guess it just wasn't meant to be this time Sad

I've really enjoyed chatting away to all you ladies and wish you all healthy and happy pregnancies.

superlambanana · 22/11/2013 15:23

Oh Penguin I'm so, so sorry. That's really crap. Thanks I hope you are coping okay (well, as okay as you can). Look after yourself. xXx

giraffelegs · 22/11/2013 15:46

Oh penguin. Sad I'm so sorry. We're here if you want to talk. Thanks

MTMD · 22/11/2013 16:02

Penguin so so so sorry :( How unfair!!!

jaykay987 · 22/11/2013 16:03

So sorry to hear that penguin. Look after yourself.

Penguin13 · 22/11/2013 16:04

Thanks everyone. I think deep down I knew something was wrong with my lack of symptoms but with no bleeding or cramping it was still a horrible shock that I wasn't just being paranoid. As soon as the technician asked me if I was sure of my dates I knew. The worst bit was walking past the couples in the corridor still waiting for their scans.

I don't want to put a downer on this thread though. The chances are that you'll all have happy, healthy babies and even though we are desperately sad and disappointed right now we are lucky we were able to conceive without difficulty so hopefully when this is all over we'll be able to try again soon with a better outcome.

SicknSpan · 22/11/2013 16:20

Sorry for your loss penguin Thanks

Cherryjellybean · 22/11/2013 16:28
