Am I the only one who didn't have to fill in a thing at her booking? Midwife asked me rapid fire questions but it was all entered into the computer there and then.

Vickyvix · 21/11/2013 21:32

There were lots of questions at my booking in and we basically put the same info hand written in my green book thing as was entered into the computer.

Still got rotten headache, urgghh. May have to resort to paracetamol but trying to hold out.

CleverOl10 · 21/11/2013 22:01

Mine same as yours Bee. All on computer.

CleverOl10 · 21/11/2013 22:03

Just told my brother. He and SIL are expecting their first in March and I was hoping they'd not feel we were stepping on their toes but he was so excited which was lovely. Telling the rest of my family face to face tomorrow. Very excited! Grin

Emmazers · 21/11/2013 22:05

No way would I iron DH's shirts. It's him who wears them and I don't buy clothes that need ironing myself!

DH really wants to get a cleaner but I'm not keen. I've told him I'll compromise on a dishwasher.

I have also had to stop epilating as it's way too painful at the moment, so I too am wearing an extra pair of trousers.

I haven't used shampoo for about a year and a half and now a rinse with water once a week or so and has the same effect as shampoo used to. My hair is so much thicker and in better condition than it ever was before.

While we're taking hair: my hair has started going curly since I fell pregnant! Not just a little but full-on ringlets! I love it but very confusing.

My booking in took 2.5 hours but most of that was me telling my midwife DD's birth story. Do you do that with the NHS too?

wispaxmas · 21/11/2013 22:09

Bee, my booking in was the same, I didn't do anything other than answer questions fired at me!

CarrotCakeMuffins · 21/11/2013 22:12

My booking in was only about 40 mins but this didn't include bloods as these had to be done separately (booking in wasn't at the doctors). Normally takes 1 hour, but was quicker because I'd filled in so much of the notes in advance. It's also not my first time.

So, if you need to save some time, and have your notes already, the get filling them in!

MyNameIsWinkly · 21/11/2013 22:14

My booking in took the best part of an hour but thinking about it, I couldn't honestly tell you what took so long. Midwife was lovely, I was very upset because I had a booking in appointment in august 2 days before I found I'd lost the pregnancy (same midwife) and it brought it all back. She picked up on how upset I was and was very understanding, but also subtly checked there weren't any underlying issues (there aren't!)

I ironed DH's shirt today but to be fair he has done most of everything recently as I've been too tired, fair's fair :)

superlambanana · 21/11/2013 22:18

Emmazers how on earth do you cope without shampooing? My hair would be a greasy blob without it!

hackneybird · 21/11/2013 22:41

mtmd v. depressing to hear about nasty tube woman. It is comforting to hear that other passengers gave her a hard time when she swore at you.

When I was expecting DS I got a seat 8 out of 10 times I think. On one memorable occasion when I was very obviously PG a woman actually elbowed me out of the way to get a seat. Everyone around us gasped and at least three people instantly stood up to offer me theirs. I like to think that for every bad apple there are lots of good ones.

mina v jealous of your wedding meal with lots of midwives! Heaven!

Also jealous of all the cleaners. I used to have one before we moved and it was ace. I must organise another, but can't face idea of having to clear surfaces etc. before they come each week. Mind you, the house is filthy.

And I'm not even thinking about my questionable personal hygiene and lack of grooming- I like to think that extra layer of hair is keeping me warm :)

Night all!

Emmazers · 21/11/2013 23:18

Super The more you use shampoo the more oil your scalp produces to compensate. The reverse is true of moisturiser, so the more you use the less natural oils your skin produces. If you don't use the stuff you don't need to but once you're caught in the trap it is difficult to get out of. It's all a big con though. The extent of my cosmetics purchases are castile soap for my underarms, toothpaste and hand soap. I've never put anything on my face but water.

Emmazers · 21/11/2013 23:20

Actually that's not quite true. I tried using anti-spot stuff on my face as a teenager with good skin, as a preventative measure. It gave me spots, so I learned my lesson! Wink

superlambanana · 21/11/2013 23:34

Hackneybird they tidied too! They even folded my washing!!

littlepickly · 22/11/2013 07:45

I really need to get involved with getting a cleaner!! I'm terrible at housework at the best of times Smile

Have broached the subject with DH but he's not having any of it - boo!

littlepickly · 22/11/2013 07:53

Just wanted to post this as hoping you can all make me feel better!!

I normally take DD swimming on a Friday morning but we haven't been for a few weeks due to half term, feeling nauseous etc...I now feel fine but my bump is very obvious in a cossie so I feel very self conscious!! I don't particularly want to tell the other ladies yet not till I've had my scan but think they are bound to notice with the size of my boobs and belly!!

I just feel so bad for DD missing out on her swimming so have a bit of mummy guilt!!

SarahAnderson · 22/11/2013 07:57

I have a strict rule with myself that I am not allowed to tidy up before the cleaner arrives! She does ironing too so that's sorted. There is no way in hell I would ever iron anything for my husband. You want it ironed, you iron it.

My husband grew up having his mum do absolutely everything for him, including coming around to my mums house the day before our wedding asking if he wanted any washing taken away and done! (When we were staying at my parents permanent home and his mum was in a house rented for the week!)

Having seen my mum get so upset over the years about cleaning and unequal duties at home (despite her working full time) I am really militant about us being 50/50. To the extent that we have done 'time audits' to establish the facts of who is doing what and whether it is fair. Fairest of all is obviously a cleaner doing it Smile

MTMD · 22/11/2013 08:31

Emma my hair us the opposite! I have curly hair but currently it's horrible: straight but very frizzy! Don't understand.. But apparently same rh

MTMD · 22/11/2013 08:32

Oops

Same happened to my mum and grandma Shock I thought it was just a myth but now I'm worried and want my curls back!

jaykay987 · 22/11/2013 09:00

So weird. Mine is still big but not curly but has gone greasy and lank and dark. I wan my old hair back! (Never thought Id say that! Grin)

BEEwitched · 22/11/2013 09:25

I try and user silicone free shampoo which helps (Lush or Liz Earle) but use supermarket brands when I run out and I have to say my hair is loving the Mum & Me Bump Shampoo.

We have a bathtub in the new house and a nice warm Bath is the only thing that makes my brain shut up and my thoughts twirling at the moment, so I'm glad I found a shampooing that works.

Penguin13 · 22/11/2013 11:11

Eek scan today! 2.40 pm. Not too long now....Time to obsessively check, check and recheck the letter to make sure I haven't missed anything....

Wow

Penguin13 · 22/11/2013 11:13

Oops rogue 'wow' sneaked in there Blush editing fail!

hackneybird · 22/11/2013 11:42

Sarah I'm totally with you on the equality. Thankfully my DH was brought up by a wonderful woman who is a feminist and so he has no qualms about doing his share, and that includes childcare. To be honest I often do more than him as I usually have lower tolerance levels for mess, but in times of dire need (such as now!) he is doing nearly everything. He's an absolute superstar. It's his birthday on Mon and I plan on spoiling him rotten.

Obviously what he'd love more than anything is some 'action' but that's not happening - still feeling too rough and generally gross. (see above post regarding extra layer of body hair) :).

penguin good luck at the scan today.

MTMD · 22/11/2013 11:45

Good luck with today's scans! 2 weeks left for us!!

Very MSy day today.. Had to run out if office at 11 to get some Pringles.. It was either that or losing my breakfast. I'm already half way through the big tube! Piggy Blush

MinaLeeds · 22/11/2013 11:57

I stopped washing my hair with shampoo more than a year ago now. I use bicarbonate of soda as shampoo and apple cider vinegar for conditioner. My hair has never been so happy! And as far as skincare products go, I have my own line of natural skincare products so I never need to put any artificial chemicals or preservatives on my skin. Even been working on creams and things for baby when she/he arrives. It's loads of fun. :)

Today I noticed that my bum has gotten bigger. I can understand why my boobs and tum would be getting bigger. But why does baby need me to have a bigger bum?? The rest of me hasn't gotten bigger. So confused. Lol!
