So lovely to hear about all the positive scans. Mine's tomorrow now! Quite scared but a little bit excited too.

Liquidambar · 21/11/2013 07:57

Good morning. So nice to hear all the positive scans! Mine is in two weeks.

Rant: Had a horrible nighAngry My cold is not getting better, blocked nose, cough, the hotel bed was uncomfortable and had to wake up super early. On the train heading to a conference and my flight back home will only be at 7.15pm. I'm not sure how I'll survive the day. Sorry.

bee024 · 21/11/2013 08:03

Sounds rubbish Liquid. Hang on in there, you'll make it.
I swear I was dreaming of lasagna all night last night!

SarahAnderson · 21/11/2013 08:05

Very envious of all the scans. Mine's not till 11 Dec. Still feeling a bit nauseous, tired, constantly ravenous.

And my husband told me this morning that we have concert tickets tonight! He said he'll definitely go but could sell mine back on the door if I wasn't feeling up to it... given that I woke at 530am this morning it's looking ambitious.

MTMD · 21/11/2013 08:25

Can somebody explain why it is socially acceptable to not give up your seat to somebody needing it more??

This morning I nearly fainted in a busy tube, somebody noticed and offered their seat. On my way to the seat I stepped on a foot of a young woman who was sitting in the priority seat all the time I was nearly passing out in front of her. I didn't mean to do it but when she yelled at me I said sorry I didn't see you. I was rather upset to be honest, with near tears in my eyes because I felt really unwell. Anyway she started swearing at me but guys standing around her told her where to go. But this doesn't end here! She got off at the same stop and ran to me attempting to step on me.. She ended up kicking my leg, it didn't hurt but I'm still shocked this happened. While I was wearing a BoB badge!! And she didn't look rough of anything, just a young professional woman very full of herself!

I'm still somewhat shaken..

MarlenaGru · 21/11/2013 08:37

What a rude woman! I would have been flabbergasted.
I made the mistake of being too slow onto the train and as I still haven't got a BOB badge am now standing feeling green while the man who pushed in front of me will get the next seat available.

BEEwitched · 21/11/2013 08:50

I'm on my way to the scan!!!

Feeling soooo sick from squeezing all that liquid in so quickly, so early v after not enough sleep.

BEEwitched · 21/11/2013 08:55

MTMD what a horrible woman, that's shocking behavior in any case - I'm afraid I would've been less dignified than you and yelled right back!

MTMD · 21/11/2013 08:55

Good article! Personally I think there should be more publicity about this. In some countries it is unthinkable to not give up your seat for pregnant or old person so this is all to do with social norms.

I think parents are to blame, they are the worst! I was once about to sit in the priority seat when a mother stopped me and sat her healthy and lively 6 year old (mother in question was sitting in the next seat).

giraffelegs · 21/11/2013 09:00

MTMD I'm quite often stunned at the way some people behave, I just can't comprehend why they think it's acceptable. And she probably won't give it a second thought now while it bothers you all day. Grrrrrr. Angry

Good luck for today's scans. I am still ill in bed, regretting taking the MW advice not to have flu jab yet. Sad

Penguin13 · 21/11/2013 09:18

MTMD, I am truly shocked at that awful woman's behaviour. What a horrible experience. Hugs to you.

Ooh good luck Bee soooooo envious of the morning appointments for scans, mine isn't till 2.40pm tomorrow. Ugh!

jaykay987 · 21/11/2013 09:22

That's awful MTMD though unfortunately I am not surprised.

I had a horrible commuter moment yesterday - an aggressive man barged past me almost knocked me to the floor. In my panic at trying to stay standing I lost my newly purchased (decaf) coffee. The man then swore at me and walked off! I could not believe it. I'm sure he was in way to much of a hurry to see my bob badge - but whether I'm pregnant or not that behaviour is just not necessary! I was so annoyed (and i also had to go buy another coffee to warm me up!)

Seats on trains should be given more often. It is so frustrating.
I have however seen the scary side of a pregnant woman before. I got on the train at the same time as another lady - she got a seat, I was standing. However literally 30 secs after sitting, the lady noticed a pregnant lady and offered her her seat. To which the pregnant woman attacked this woman shouting that she had been standing for the last half an hour as the inconsiderate people around her had not offered her a seat and so she was sure we would cope with the remaining 20 minutes of her journey standing as well!

Looking back now, she was probably having a bad pregnant rage day - but at the time, every just looked at her and thought she was mental! So irrational and stubborn :-) So stubborn she point blank refused to take the seat. It was really awkward as the train was rammed and the seat remained empty with a heavily pregnant woman standing next to it!

So sometimes I can see why people are put off trying to help! :-) No excuse for the majority though!

MTMD · 21/11/2013 09:33

I always try to appear supper grateful when someone offers a seat.

That pg woman must have been having super bad day...

SicknSpan · 21/11/2013 09:33

Sarah that's such a shame if you're going to miss the concert. Who was it for? We had tickets for 30 seconds to Mars last Friday but I couldn't go. Gutted! Same happened with ds1- tickets to Red Hot Chilli Peppers in Hyde park but I couldn't face the journey let alone the gig so with both gigs dh and our best friends tootled off and had a lovely time without me. Talk about upset! Hope you have a cosy and comfy night in being kind to yourself if you decide not to go.

MTMD what a cow that woman was! I wonder whether the police would consider it assault- I expect there would be CCTV footage too at the station. So sorry you had to experience this.

Are there any others like me who are cooking dc3? ohclutter? Anyone starting to panic slightly about what type of chaos the third will bring? (seatfor5 you always give me hope, it can't be that bad if you're going for no. 5 Wink)

Hoe everyone has a good day.

MTMD · 21/11/2013 09:33

Super :)

BEEwitched · 21/11/2013 10:11

Hiya, I'm back from my scan, baby refused to stay still or lie the right way round so the sonographer had a good old time wiggling her Wand around and trying to get it to turn.

Had a good result, 1:2340 or something like that but we're also having an additional blood test done that measures hormone levels in the blood and makes the combined result more accurate.

I now have a DVD of my scan and 4 more photos, Yay!!!!

superlambanana · 21/11/2013 10:16

MTMD if she was deliberately kicking you then I'd say that was assault! If you see her again I'd be tempted to threaten her with the police. How horrible for you!

Have had a few hours' sleep so a bit less grumpy now. Plus we have a cleaner coming this morning (first time ever, I feel quite indulgent!) so I won't have to do anything and will be able (hopefully) to relax in a nice clean house!

LadyGoneGaga · 21/11/2013 10:24

Yes, I'm also cooking no. 3, Sickandspan. Mostly I'm ok but occasionally have moments of pure terror. Like how on earth will I handle bedtime? It's hard enough now if my husband is out! DS is definitely going to have to grow up a bit and start doing a bit more for himself. he's 5 but he can be a bit lazy and it's often easier to get him dressed than still be shrieking like a harridan 5 mins before we have to leave for school. And I still need to potty train DD. Aaaaagh!!!!

MTMD that woman's behaviour is totally unacceptable. Shame there wasn't a handy policeman around. Hope you're ok, poor thing. I am very grateful I just hop in my car to go to work.

Good scan results everyone! Still waiting for a date...

SicknSpan · 21/11/2013 10:31

Lady yes bedtime is one of my worries too- and have the getting dressed debacle too! Are you worried about the school run? Am pondering on what happens when I go back to work after mat leave and have to do a complicated journey to drop off at breakfast club and then nursery. Mind is on overtime.

SicknSpan · 21/11/2013 10:32

Hooray Bee on good scan- has your due date changed? Lots of wriggly nippers on this thread!

SarahAnderson · 21/11/2013 10:56

Anyone got any hints on how long the initial midwife appointment takes? Mine is scheduled for 1.5 hours but I need to leave after 1 hour to catch a train. Am hoping since I have done lots of reading and have opinions on stuff already that I can whip through it quickly. AIBU?

dramajustfollowsme · 21/11/2013 11:09

Cant believe that woman on the tube.Blush some people just have no manners.
I thought I had avoided major sickness this time after hyperemesis in previous pregnancy. I was wrong. God I feel awful.
I also discovered yesterday that I am now allergic to a shampoo that I have been using for ages. Because I washed my hair in the shower, my whole body is covered in hives. I can't take antihistamines and I am miserable. Sad
Trying to persuade a lively toddler that a duvet day is a good idea. She isn't agreeing so far...

MTMD · 21/11/2013 11:25

Thanks everyone for your support. I considered telling staff but then I wasn't hurt, only startled. I might bump into her though as she probably works in the same area and commutes at the same time. I just wish that one day she'll feel pregnant, sick and vulnerable and remember today...

Sarah, my letter says 2 hours. 6 days to go!

On a happier note, this morning DH was singing 'all I want for Christmas is twoooo...babies!' Silly man :D He's a twin himself so is obsessed with the idea of having twins.

BEEwitched · 21/11/2013 11:39

We're now rather hilariously stuck on a seaside carpark, both feeling queasy. The sonographer took 6 attempts to get my bloods and I still need the bathroom even though I've been several times since the scan so I'm not fit to drive and poor hubby looks as if his Starbucks mocha is also going to make a reappearance.

It's kind of hilarious, but at least this means when we eventually make it home I get to take DH to bed for a snooze and a cuddle.
